Chapter 162: End of the Matter
Yu Nianzhen dissolved his sword barrier and pushed away the debris that came tumbling down.
"XiaoYue..." He called, and his eyes widened in panic.
When the eighth young master rushed toward him, Jiang Yue was relatively far away.
However, the silver-haired fool instinctively ran toward him when he saw the eighth young master wanted to self-destruct.
’You have to be okay.’ Yu Nianzhen prayed and quickly cleared the debris around him.
"Nianzhen..." A voice called back.
"XiaoYue?"
"It’s me."
"How are you?"
"I am okay."
"Wait for me to clear the debris."
"Good." Jiang Yue said and sighed.
A few moments later, Yu Nianzhen cleared the collapsed pillars and unearthed Jiang Yue from under one.
His body was covered in wounds, and several were bleeding heavily. When he saw that, Yu Nianzhen clenched his hands and forced himself to calm down.
"Take a pill first." He said and removed a rejuvenation pill from his storage ring. He then put the other in his arms and held him as he refined the pill.
This took a shichen, and when the pill was fully refined, all of Jiang Yue’s surface wounds had already healed.
"Don’t be afraid, I am fine." Jiang Yue whispered.
Even without opening his eyes, he could feel that the other was trembling and knew he was afraid.
"XiaoYue..." Yu Nianzhen called and tightened his arms around the other.
"Don’t be afraid."
Although he said that, Jiang Yue was also afraid.
When he saw the eighth young master wanting to die with Yu Nianzhen, his mind went blank.
All his reason escaped, and he forgot that the swordsman had a sword intent barrier.
However, he reckoned he would still rush forward even if he recalled the sword barrier.
In the end, no one can be calm when their most beloved person is in danger.
"Don’t ever do this again." Yu Nianzhen admonished.
"Don’t worry, I will take care of myself."
Yu Nianzhen heard the obvious avoidance but couldn’t say a word. He only held the other and promised himself to take better care of Jiang Yue.
"Daoist Yu, Daoist Jiang...," A voice called, and the two returned to their senses.
They saw Bai patriarch standing a few metres away, and they stood up.
"Bai patriarch, how is the situation?" Jiang Yue asked.
"Fortunately, no one is dead. Several are heavily injured, but most only have minor injuries."
"It’s good to hear that. I didn’t expect the eighth Wang to be so impulsive." Jiang Yue frowned and brushed off several pieces of meat that were stuck to his clothes.
When he heard that, the Bai patriarch sighed.
From young to now, the eighth young master Wang had always been the kind of cultivator that was greedy for life.
When other members of the city lord’s residence went out to practice in the forests, the eighth Wang would hide in the flower garden.
’Maybe he was too stimulated this time?’ Bai patriarch wondered.
Now that he thought about it, he felt that the eighth Wang fell into despair when he realised he could no longer play with the famous flowers.
"Are the two Daoists injured?" Bai patriarch asked when he realised he hadn’t asked about them.
"My injuries are light, I should recover after a night of rest."
"That’s good." Bai patriarch was relieved to hear that.
Over the years, his daughter had mentioned Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen. Both were personal disciples, and their status was a lot higher than Bai Zheng’s.
If they were damaged in his Bai family, the patriarch worried that the sect would not let him go.
"If the two Daoists don’t mind, you can rest in my Bai family."
Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen looked at each other and decided to stay.
Although they had a room at the inn, a lot of things had happened, and they could not ignore the situation at the Bai family.
Since they were the ones who stimulated the eighth Wang to blow himself, they couldn’t leave the Bai family to deal with the Wang family.
’I hope it won’t take long to sort this mess.’ Jiang Yue thought sullenly.
Their twenty-first birthday was only a few days away, and he didn’t want to spend the day at the Bai residence.
When he thought of their twenty-first birthday, Jiang Yue looked at Yu Nianzhen and blushed.
"What’s the matter?" Yu Nianzhen asked and then frowned.
"Do you have a fever?"
Without waiting for an answer, he placed his hand on the other’s forehead, and Jiang Yue rolled his eyes.
’Is it possible for an origin forging realm cultivator to have a fever because of a minor injury?’
’As expected, the IQ of those in love is permanently negative.’ He disdained but forgot he was also an idiot who ran towards a cultivator who was about to explode himself.
"Don’t worry, I am fine." Jiang Yue answered and then turned to the Bai patriarch.
"We will stay if it’s convenient."
"There is no inconvenience." The patriarch said and immediately instructed a servant to prepare a room.
Before the three could continue, a guard came running into the hall.
He jumped over several piles of debris and stopped in front of the patriarch.
"What’s the matter?" The patriarch said.
The guard caught his breath before he spoke, "people from the Wang family have come."
Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen frowned when they heard that.
The patriarch also frowned and then straightened his spine to deal with the situation.
"Two daoists..." He began, but Jiang Yue stopped him.
"Let’s go together and see what the Wang family wants."
The patriarch was hoping for this answer, and the three navigated their way out of the destroyed hall.
’It’s lucky the eighth Wang was only in the third level of the origin forging realm. If he was on the ninth level, the entire main courtyard would have been destroyed.’ Jiang Yue thought as he looked at the destruction along the way.
When they exited the destroyed hall, they saw a group of four people.
The leading person was a middle-aged man who was in the seventh level of the origin forging realm.
The other three were young men, and the most accomplished was in the first level of the origin forging realm.
"Bai patriarch and the two honoured guests from the Sea Cloud sect." The middle-aged man greeted and cupped his fists.
When they saw that, the three were surprised.
They didn’t expect the person from the Wang family to be courteous even after the eighth Wang died in the Bai family.
"Is steward Wang here for something?" The patriarch asked.
The middle-aged man waved his hand, and one of the young men handed him two bottles.
"As a friend, our city lord let this slave rush over when he heard there was an alchemy accident at the Bai family. You can accept these two bottles of rejuvenation pills." The steward said, and the atmosphere froze.
’Alchemy accident? My daughter hasn’t come back, why don’t I know my Bai family has another alchemist?’ The patriarch was surprised, and his eyes narrowed.
However, he was a patriarch after all.
Although their Fengying city was only a small city, it wasn’t short of intrigues.
Since the city lord had gone out of his way to abandon his eighth son and conclude the matter was an accident, he would gladly accept.
Both sides had suffered a loss, and there was no need to pursue the matter any further.
If they insisted, they would only make it easier for the other big families to destroy them.
"It was unfortunate this time, but luckily, no one is dead. I will stand for the Bai family to thank the city lord for his timely assistance."
The patriarch took the two bottles of rejuvenation pills and placed them in his robe sleeves.
After that, the steward turned to Jiang Yue and Yu Nianzhen.
"Two Daoists, our city lord would like to thank you for your assistance this time."
When Jiang Yue heard that, his lips twitched.
He couldn’t see it, but he imagined the steward was very aggrieved to thank them.
If it were not for the two of them, the Bai family would have fallen to the Wang family.
However, Jiang Yue didn’t plan to tear his face with the city lord.
After all, he was not a person of Fengying city.
He didn’t have a stake in the area’s politics, and the two didn’t plan to involve themselves too much.
"It’s what we should do. Fellow Daoist Wang is too polite." Jiang Yue said.
"The city lord plans to hold a banquet for the two fellow Daoists. What do the two think?"
"I am afraid it’s not possible this time. We are on a sect mission and must leave early in the morning. If fate allows, we shall eat another time."
After that, the steward said a few more words and left the Bai residence.
’It’s good that the city lord knows what’s what.’ Jiang Yue thought.
In this way, the matter would end, and they didn’t need to conflict with the city lord’s residence.
"Bai patriarch, how is our bullock?" Yu Nianzhen suddenly asked.
Now that the Bai-Wang conflict was settled, he was eager to leave the city.
If he could, he would leave right away, but Jiang Yue was injured and needed time to recuperate.
"The bullock is in the back. If the two Daoists want to see it, I can take you there."
"Bai patriarch doesn’t need to bother. Just give us the direction or let a servant take us."
A short while later, a servant brought them to an animal shed in the backyard, and the two saw the bullock they hadn’t seen for more than five years.
’I was thinking I would have to find you if you didn’t return soon.’ A voice said in their minds.
