Chapter 58: A Cool Line from an Insignificant Person

Uon, who was excited to teach, was left utterly speechless by what Moon said. "You did what?"

As Uon was unable to believe his ears, Moon decided to return the favor of keeping him hanging whenever he asked a question; he didn’t answer. Instead, he turned around.

"No need to admire how awesome I am." Moon looked away from Uon, running his hand through his long hair.

Uon defied all of Moon’s expectations; he wasn’t angry, mad, or impatient.

Instead, he jumped to his feet, startling Moon.

"You crazy kid!" Uon was happy. He did the unthinkable, carrying Moon like a child and going in circles.

Moon shouted and demanded to be put down, but his demands were only met after he was fed up with his entire life. He felt like he was being toyed with under the gaze of his newly acquired underlings.

He also knew Uon was strong; he couldn’t beat him up, not just yet... but he was adding to his grudges against this older brother figure of his.

Even the duo was not sure what exactly they were seeing.

Barrett looked at Basil; he grabbed the hem of his clothes.

The moment Basil made eye contact with Barrett, both looked away from Moon.

Barrett was tactful; he signaled to Basil to look away, lest Moon hold a grudge and beat them up later for watching this ridiculous scene.

He would have run out if he could, but he also knew he would get beaten up right away for doing that.

Yet, as crazy as the scene might have seemed to them, little did they know that this was the day that would change their entire fates.

In the end, Uon’s excitement ended peacefully, with Moon cursing inwardly and eager to go pick another fight with whoever he could find in his way.

But it was already lunchtime, and he had to go to the Eatery, lest Chef Ed get mad too. Sky Splitting Edmond was a moody one, and Moon didn’t want to risk delaying his echo situation even further.

But against all odds, Ed seemed in a good mood; he didn’t even question bringing the two new kids to the eatery...

Moon squinted behind his spoon and glass of water; he was sure Ed was watching from somewhere and was enjoying a good show, but he had no evidence.

By the time lunch was over, Moon left Basil and Barrett with Uon and headed to his room, the one in Hall 1.

He kept staying there. He didn’t mention moving to the dorms and no one else did, so they had probably tacitly agreed he would be staying there regardless.

Moon let his body relax on the bed, feeling that this had been a very long day...

But the moment he started to enjoy this peace, more concerns started to surface; more noise started to rage in his mind.

He had already started to notice that he was now different from before...

Loneliness, even some looming depressing feeling that didn’t feel like sadness but closer to numbness... agony that didn’t hurt the body

He wasn’t sure what he was feeling, but he noticed that he was either stuck in this phase or drowning in excitement.

There was no in-between for him, and that alone was frightening... his mind was becoming destructive... to him first and foremost.

Moon had lived his entire life barely surviving, up until the madness that had struck him for a very long time during the trial.

His mind could not accept the fact that, at least for now, he was safe.

Nor did what Mishu did this morning allow it; his mind kept bringing him frightening possibilities of Mishu punching him while sleeping, but not those messing-around punches...

Real punches, like the ones that hospitalized that lass, Lexie.

His face turning into a flat smear on the bed.

Moon decided he would take a shower and sleep. A few days ago, Samuel had already assured him his scent of death could not leak out of this room or building...

So while Uon wasn’t here and wouldn’t break into the room suddenly, hopefully, he should take a shower.

His body wasn’t as needy for cleaning after ascending, not without doing some extreme activities, and his clothes were forever clean as well...

But he enjoyed the feeling of flowing clean water hitting his face and body, cool water to calm down his mind and bring the peace of sleepiness with it.

And thus, he took his shower and laid down in his bed, entering a deep phase of sleep.

He also needed to discover the rest of the facility; he could keep asking around. And with that, his mind gave up struggling, going into a deep sleep.

Before he knew it, he felt like the world was spinning... his eyes opened, and his hand found Liquid Mountain without fail.

He stayed still for a moment, unsure of what exactly had happened. He moved the curtains, looking behind; the sky was dark.

He looked at his status window, checking the time before the duel:

7 Hours, 4 Minutes, 59 Seconds.

He let out a breath; he might have been asleep for longer than he expected.

Thus, he decided to go out for a walk, or maybe dinner if Ed was still in the eatery.

The night breeze felt pleasant, cool... He enjoyed that about the facility’s nighttime, though he was still unsure if the rest of the second floor would feel the same... It was very fine weather that wasn’t cold by any means, but just... coolly comfortable.

The first floor was rather warmer than this; such cool air was very rare to come by.

He walked rather slower than usual, enjoying this nice air and the emptiness... For now, there wasn’t anyone to pick a fight with him.

"STOP, LET GO OF ME!" A shrill scream echoed from somewhere, ruining the pleasant moment Moon was trying to enjoy.

"Which bastard?" he cursed out loud, but the screams only got worse.

Moon wasn’t sure what was going on; even the screams felt new to him. He had never heard such a tone before.

It wasn’t very far now that he ran in the direction of the sound, and once he was there...

He found a scene where he wasn’t sure for a moment what exactly he was looking at.

There was a girl, face bloodied and full of tears.

Her mouth was bleeding most, dangling open, and her outer hooded robe was ripped, her hair held by a hand.

Another hand was holding her inner shirt in an attempt to rip it off.

Both hands belonged to Dave, who was in the scene with her, without anything on his lower half.

Once Moon arrived, he was at first not sure if he was bullying the girl or attempting to mate, but either way, it didn’t sit right in his throat.

"Hey bitch, who taught you that running like this in the open is fine?" he called to Dave, who finally realized there was a third person in the scene.

Turning around to Moon, "Oh, it’s you. Did you come here to die earlier than scheduled?" Dave asked, unfazed.

"That’s a cool line from an insignificant person." Moon nodded before looking down, seeing something he would rather have not seen. "Ewww, are you attempting to mate with that pinky?" He covered his eyes and looked to the side.

Dave’s frustration was reaching its limit at this point; he jerked the girl’s face away and dashed with his fist aimed at Moon.
