Chapter 1116: Chapter 1116: Everything I Have Is to Protect You
Some more rational fans were calmly analyzing it:
"The Queen went missing for seven days, and during that time Young Master Night also disappeared for half a month. The fact that they vanished together is quite intriguing. The only places with no cell signal are remote areas... hm... the odds of them going on a honeymoon are low. Could it be that the Queen went on a mission with Young Master Night?"
Aurelia Shaw broke out in a cold sweat.
Are fans these days all blessed with Sherlock Holmes–level deduction skills?
Aurelia kept scrolling down when the door opened and someone walked in. Mason Nightshade came up from behind and wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on her shoulder. At his nose was the fresh, clean scent of her shower gel. He let out a sigh, glanced at the phone in her hand, and asked, "What are you looking at?"
Aurelia said evenly, "Dawnsong won an award."
Mason: "Congratulations."
Aurelia: "But I didn’t respond when the official announcement came out, so now the haters are going off on me like crazy."
Mason’s face darkened. He took the phone from her hand, scrolled a few times, and his expression grew even gloomier, his eyes so icy they looked ready to kill.
Aurelia sighed. "If I’d known, I would’ve just given Amanda my account password."
Artists’ Weibo accounts all have dedicated staff managing them.
Aurelia was used to handling these personal accounts herself. All the stuff on her Weibo had always been managed by her. She hadn’t expected something this big to blow up.
Mason lifted his hand and picked up his own phone.
"Bo... boss!" Gustavo Yates’s sleepy, groggy voice came from the other end.
Even through the receiver Aurelia could hear the sheer terror of having his sweet dream interrupted halfway.
Mason ordered coolly, "Get up and work. Clean up the stuff online. It’s an eyesore."
Aurelia looked over at Mason, wanting to stop him. Mason pondered for a moment, then, as if something had occurred to him, suddenly said, "Forget it."
Gustavo: "???"
Gustavo stared at his hung‑up phone. Why had the boss called him at two‑thirty in the morning?
Mason let out a sigh and nuzzled against Aurelia’s neck like a wronged little puppy. "I’m very angry."
"I can tell." Aurelia was exasperated and amused.
Who announces their own mood like that when they’re mad?
"I want to shield you, but right now my rational side is telling me that if I forcibly scrub all those disgusting insults, it’ll only be bad for you."
For the first time, Mason felt a sense of powerlessness.
He desperately wanted to hide this woman in his arms and keep her safe, yet he also knew that wasn’t the right thing to do.
Aurelia took her phone back from his hand and sent her account and password to Amanda Fuller. "This one’s on me too. If I’d told Amanda my password earlier, this wouldn’t have happened..."
As soon as Aurelia finished speaking, a hand pinched her cheek, squeezed twice—mm, the feel was really nice. Mason lowered his head to look at her and said, "When you talk like that, it makes me feel like your man is totally useless."
Aurelia arched a brow.
"I keep making you come save me, and in the end I still can’t keep you completely safe. So tell me, what’s the point of everything I have now?
My money, my power, my status, my identity—there’s only one purpose to all of it... to protect you.
But if I can’t even protect you now, what do I need any of it for?"
Aurelia was about to say, "You’ve been protecting me this whole time," when WeChat buzzed. Amanda replied, her tone practically streaming tears, so happy she could cry:
"You finally brought yourself to give me your account and password. I’m so moved! I feel like I’ve achieved a tiny little life goal."
