Chapter 1481: Brother Xuxu Side Story (Part 2)_3

Brother Xuxu was somewhat moved; in most families, parents decide on a bride without consulting the son, but his mother was so understanding: "Alright."

Since the next day was Sister Yuanyuan’s Third Day Ceremony, Yueyao had discussed it with Lady of Marquis Jingning, Madam Ping, so during the ceremony, Madam Ping brought Miss Xinrong along.

Brother Xuxu looked at the young lady standing next to Madam Ping of the Jingning Residence. She was wearing a goose yellow dress, her eyebrows gracefully arched, a small upturned nose, her face like White Jade, and her big dark eyes sparkled as if they could talk.

Brother Xuxu was not particularly focused on looks, but if his future wife were beautiful, it would naturally be the best.

Since this was the Third Day Ceremony, there were many guests, so it was impossible for the two to have a chance to be alone. This meeting was simply to see if they were suited for each other.

After a while, Yueyao heard that someone from the palace had arrived. Yueyao originally thought the Empress had sent some gifts, but unexpectedly it was an imperial decree from the Emperor, conferring the title of Commandery Princess on Sister Yuanyuan.

Upon hearing the decree, Yueyao felt more certain about her suspicions. Perhaps the Second Princess’s mother was very special to the Emperor; otherwise, he wouldn’t be so protective.

Upon receiving the news, the Second Princess was so happy she cried with joy. With the title of Commandery Princess, Sister Yuanyuan’s future would be smoother.

Yueyao smiled and said, "Those in confinement should not shed tears, or you’ll have eye pain when old." To Yueyao, whether her granddaughter was a Commandery Princess was not important; what’s important is to educate this child well.

The Second Princess quickly wiped her tears, feeling a bit embarrassed. As an Imperial Princess, she should have been more composed than her mother-in-law, yet in comparison, she fell short like a mess.

Yueyao didn’t stay long, quickly going out to entertain guests. The guests, knowing Sister Yuanyuan was granted the title of Commandery Princess, had their suspicions confirmed and approached to congratulate Yueyao.

After managing affairs at the Princess’s Mansion, Yueyao returned to the Earl’s Mansion. On the way back, she couldn’t help but complain to Xiang Wei: "I originally thought with a daughter-in-law, I wouldn’t have to deal with everything, but instead, it’s even more exhausting." Now she had to manage not just the Earl’s Mansion but also the important matters of the Princess’s Mansion, and Yueyao truly felt tired.

Xiang Wei smiled and said, "Let Brother Xuxu quickly marry a wife, then you wouldn’t have to work so hard." It’s often heard that ladies refuse to relinquish the house management power, but not that someone doesn’t want it.

Yueyao looked at Xiang Wei, muttering, "I do hope for it too! But Brother Xuxu must be willing to marry! A wife willingly brought home by the son is different than one forced by parents. No matter how eager I am for a daughter-in-law to help with housework, I won’t rush it."

Xiang Wei laughed and said, "To be born in your family is a real blessing."

Not long after Yueyao returned to the Main Courtyard, Brother Xuxu came looking for her. Yueyao asked, "How did you feel about seeing Miss Ping today?"

Brother Xuxu thought she was acceptable.

Yueyao was displeased: "Good is good, bad is bad, what do you mean by ’acceptable’? Such ambiguity is the most annoying."

Brother Xuxu hung his head and after a long time, said, "You decide, Mother!"

Yueyao sighed slightly and said, "If you aren’t sincerely willing to marry her, then forget it, lest you hurt the girl."

Brother Xuxu was unhappy hearing that, and said, "What do you mean hurt her? Mother, whose side are you on here?" He wasn’t lacking in any way, so how could marrying him be considered harmful?

Yueyao responded, "Put yourself in other’s shoes, if back then your brother-in-law treated your sister with the same attitude you showed today, indifferent to marrying or not, what would you do?"

Without thinking, Brother Xuxu replied, "Then she definitely shouldn’t marry him."

Yueyao nodded and said, "Don’t do unto others what you don’t want done to you. She is also a treasured daughter, why should she endure your indifference."

Brother Xuxu understood what Yueyao meant and after thinking for a while said, "Mother, let me consider it again! I will give you an answer tomorrow."

In another area, Madam Ping asked Ping Xinrong: "How did you feel? If you didn’t like him, just tell your aunt directly."

Ping Xinrong blushingly said, "Quite good." To say she likes him would be too much; she’s not a lovesick girl who falls in love at first sight, but she did feel quite good about Brother Xuxu.

Seeing this, Madam Ping smiled and said, "It’s good that you think so. Although Lady Lian might seem cold, she is actually a very agreeable person."
