Chapter 99: The One That.... Wanders (3)
HUMMMMMM!!!!!
Right as the final blows threatened to erase what remained of her, an absurd wave of power surged through the void like a silent storm.
It crashed over Liliana’s broken form with an almost impossible force, stirring something ancient and buried deep within her vampiric bloodline.
HUMMMMM!!!!!
A sudden resonance bloomed in her chest, warm and electric, vibrating through every vein and shattered bone as if her very blood recognized the newcomer and answered.
In that moment... strength began to pour into her.
Torn flesh knit together with tingling heat, the freezing numbness receded from her limbs, and the ragged edges of her consciousness sharpened.
She drew ragged, soundless breaths, the metallic taste of her own blood still thick on her tongue, but the pain dulled to a distant throb.
"W... what is happening?!" she asked in pure shock, as pure, living fuel surged through her from the presence alone.
All at once, the constructs halted in mid-strike, their movements suspended as if time itself had stuttered.
Millions of luminous eyes faded together, their glow dimming in a strange, synchronized hush.
Liliana, still only half-reformed and drifting like smoke caught in a breeze, slowly turned her head with the rest, each gaze drawn irresistibly toward the mysterious source of the deep, thrumming resonance.
"Y... you?" she murmured in disbelief; the only reason she could recognize the figure before her was the fierce resonance thrumming through her bloodline.
"H... husband?" she repeated, her voice wavering, as she stared at the figure standing there—Akasha.
But this was not the Akasha she had known, nor even the one anyone had seen in recent times.
Seven months had passed since his evolution into Cosmic Union had begun... and now, this was someone, or something, entirely different.
This was something else entirely—more primal, more complete.
Four black-and-grey horns curved elegantly from his head, catching faint starlight.
Long, pointed ears framed his face, and sharp fangs glinted between parted lips.
His skin was pale with a subtle iridescent shimmer that shifted softly with every faint movement, like moonlight on oil.
Neck-length hair, black and white, drifted weightlessly around his shoulders.
His eyes—pure black with narrow grey slits—burned with quiet intensity.
Massive starry wings spread behind him, vast and ethereal, constellations swirling slowly within their dark expanse.
The sight stole what little breath she had left.
Her heart clenched with a confusing mix of recognition, relief, and raw hunger, the resonance in her blood singing louder now, pulling her toward him.
However, beyond her reaction and even the constructs...
It was the Wanderer, perhaps, who reacted the most... strange.
The cloaked figure on the floating throne of shattered stars froze for a long moment.
Then a maddening smile split the shadows beneath the hood—nothing visible but a flash of pure white teeth, sharp and knowing.
Slowly, the being rose from its seat.
HUMMMM!!!!
With a casual wave of one hand, every remaining construct in the vast emptiness vanished, dissolving into harmless wisps of cosmic dust that scattered into the void without a trace.
The ancient voice echoed directly into their minds once more, calm and laced with challenge.
"You must defeat me... if you want knowledge of the Great Severance."
Akasha hovered there for a heartbeat, wings giving a slow, powerful beat that sent faint ripples through the emptiness.
His black-and-grey slit eyes first scanned Liliana—lingering on her reforming body, the blood still drifting around her, the way her crimson coat was slowly knitting itself back together.
Then his gaze shifted to the cloaked figure on the throne, scanning the Wanderer with the same sharp, assessing intensity, as if weighing every hidden layer of power and intent.

[A/N: Yes, her outfit is the reason her true identity isn’t shown... but Akasha is not an idiot here.]
Akasha hovered in the starlit void, his starry wings beating slowly and deliberately, sending faint ripples of cosmic energy washing outward.
’All of this... is just too goddamn ironic,’ he thought, a low chuckle building in his chest.
It should be understood that, despite the subtle shifts in his demeanor and the drastic change in his appearance, Akasha would never act without careful calculation.
Previously, he had been planning to seek out the Red Lady, drawn by the fact that she commanded the world’s largest information network.
While her resources weren’t something he needed right now, he believed that if Dreamer’s Peak could secure her as an ally—especially with the added strength he could offer her—she would prove invaluable for future ambitions.
He had even considered tracking down the Wanderer to uncover deeper truths about Kalpa and the hidden forces shaping this world.
Yet here they both were—right in front of him.
And the Wanderer...
’A world that wanders, huh?’ he mused, the realization settling over him with a strange, thrilling weight.
His slit-pupiled eyes narrowed slightly, for in this moment, it wasn’t just the Red Lady feeling a resonance in her vampiric nature.
No—when Akasha appeared, he felt it surge wildly, reminiscent of the only other time he’d experienced it.
Back at the Academy of Veils, before the first invasion... when he met Liliana.
’Tsk... I knew this woman wasn’t in damn seclusion,’ he thought with a mix of amusement and wariness, though without real concern.
Even now, he couldn’t say for certain what the resonance or connection between them was.
But Akasha wouldn’t be himself if he let such a feeling sway his emotions.
While he was briefly lost in thought, the cloaked figure rose fully from the throne.
With a fluid motion, it pulled back its hood.
HUMMMMMM!!!!!
Power exploded outward in a silent detonation—raw, ancient, and perfectly matched to Akasha’s own base output.
The void trembled around them, a pressure that pressed against skin and bone alike.
And the Wanderer... didn’t wait.
In one swift step, it was suddenly in front of Akasha, fist hurtling forward in a crushing punch that seemed to blur the space between them.
Akasha only smiled wider, fangs glinting.
BOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!
The strike hit him square in the chest with a deep, echoing thud—but it was as if nothing had happened.
There was no pain, no pressure, not even the faintest impact.
Every bit of force disappeared, swallowed whole by an infinite emptiness inside him, leaving no trace it had ever been there at all.
The impact rippled harmlessly through his iridescent skin, leaving only a faint, pleasant warmth.
"How nice... it actually worked," Akasha murmured, voice smooth and teasing, laced with that new primal edge.
His hand darted out with effortless swiftness, fingers closing securely around the Wanderer’s throat.
The hold wasn’t suffocating, but it was steady and claiming, like a hunter keeping its match in place.
"So... tell me, just how satisfying will it be to hear about the state of the world—from the world itself?"
Beneath his touch, the ancient power throbbed, untamed and immense.
Internally, satisfaction bloomed, ’I must say... my potential sense is pretty broken.’
He knew for certain that none of this would be going as smoothly if it weren’t for his most recent changes.
It wasn’t just that he had reached the Universal Peak, but he had also gone on to unlock four new God Races.
Two of them were already beginning to display their glory.
His black-and-grey eyes gleamed with dark delight as he held the gaze of the being that was Kalpa.
Before the Wanderer could react, Akasha released his throat with a casual flick of his wrist and tilted his head, the motion almost playful.
"We are friends, right?"
HUMMMMM!!!!
The starry wings behind him hummed with soft, resonant power.
The Wanderer stumbled back a step, a weird, echoing laugh bubbling up from deep within its form—half-mad, half-delighted.
"Ha... you... are a son of the stars..."
Akasha let out a genuine laugh, rich and unrestrained, the sound carrying through the emptiness like distant thunder.
He turned and began walking past the Wanderer, his long coat—newly manifested in black and white—flowing behind him.
As he passed Liliana, he caught her crimson eyes locked on him in pure shock, her body still mending from the resonance of his presence.
He offered her nothing more than a passing look...
"Hmmm... I guess that is what I’m being called nowadays, isn’t it?"
By the time the words left his lips, he reached the throne and lowered himself onto it with effortless authority.
The moment he sat, two familiar figures materialized on his lap.
Luna appeared first, pressing close with affectionate warmth, her body molding against his as she smiled up at him with open lust and adoration.
Beside her, Yume settled in as well—her once dreamlike purple hair and eyes now streaked with cool blues and icy tones that gave her an ethereal, sharper beauty.
Yume rested her head against Akasha’s shoulder, one hand lightly tracing the edge of his starry wing, her expression serene yet guarded as she glanced toward the Wanderer.
Akasha leaned back on the throne; wings partially folded around the two women.
His black-and-grey slit eyes fixed on the Wanderer with a strange, expectant look—curious, commanding, and laced with that primal edge.
"It’s time to speak now... isn’t it?"
