Chapter 34: The Silent Dream That Drifted (2)

SHATTER! SHATTER! SHATTER!

"By the Dragon Gods....."

Deep within the Dragon Caldera, the same attendant who had rushed Kristen to be healed stood frozen in one of the inner healing chambers, his scaled hands trembling as he stared at the sacred wall of Dragon Artifact scales.

"No... no, this can’t be—" he whispered, voice cracking with growing horror.

Millions of the sacred scales — each one tied to the life force of a dragon in the Nova Clan — were exploding violently across the massive display wall.

They weren’t shattering one by one, but in massive groups, detonating into glittering clouds of dust with terrifying speed.

The sound was deafening, like reality itself fracturing.

SHATTTTERRRRR!!!!

Then, in a single horrifying instant, all of them shattered at once.

A horrifying silence followed.

The attendant’s own scale — along with six others — were the only few still faintly glowing on the wall.

However, his blood suddenly twisted violently inside his veins, as if something invisible was trying to claw its way out of him.

He clutched his chest, gasping sharply as a deep, primal fear flooded his system.

"What... what is this feeling in my blood?! It’s... it’s tearing at me—!"

Before he could even turn to run, Akasha appeared.

He stepped out from inside the Tier 14 Dragon’s body like a nightmare made flesh, drenched head to toe in steaming, fresh dragon blood.

The metallic stench of it filled the chamber instantly, thick and overwhelming.

The attendant’s eyes widened in pure terror.

"W-Who a—!"

SHKKKK!!!!!

Akasha didn’t give him a chance to finish.

With one smooth, effortless slash from behind, the Tier 14 Dragon’s head was cleaved clean off.

Its massive body hit the ground with a deafening crash, spraying hot blood in a vivid red mist across the chamber.

The attendant’s scale on the wall shattered with one final, pitiful crack.

Akasha stood still, blood dripping from his scythe and soaking his clothes, his crimson-stained eyes calm and as he turned his attention to the artifacts on the wall.

In that moment, he scanned them all, and as he did, their purposes became clear to him.

"Hm, so the Dragon King, two princes, Kristen, and two Ancestors..." he murmured, and as his eyes lingered on each, it was as though their details and histories were laid out before him in plain sight.

Truth be told, the only ones of real significance were the Ancestors; beyond that, the King and his heirs were nothing more than figures biding their time until an inevitable and unremarkable end.

"Yeah... I’m sure I won’t have long before they realize something is up." Akasha said noting their hidden information seeing they were both deep in slumber.

However, it was something about their reason behind slumbering which caught Akasha’s attention.

It was the fact that the Second Ancestor was waiting on a signal... in fact they both were waiting to receive an image from a far Dragon Clan that didn’t come from Kalpa at all.

"And once she received the image... she could easily set up a portal..." He muttered as no matter what they planned to do afterwards, it would just make the world of Kalpa all the more complicated.

At this moment, he intended to kill four birds with one stone—quite literally.

Now that he was deep within the main volcano that served as the lair of the Dragon King and the other heirs, he could carry out the same tactic he had used before.

After dealing with the first, he hadn’t bothered to hunt them down one at a time. Instead, he put them all into a deep slumber and then destroyed everything at once with a single, deadly gift box.

With that in mind he got to work.

HUMMMM!!!!

----

Deep within the grand throne chamber, the Dragon King’s rumbling voice echoed like distant thunder as he addressed his two sons.

"I have just ordered a meeting with every king and queen. We will meet in two weeks. At that time, the discussion of this new mysterious being and the deadline of ninety years will be settled once and for all."

Ryder and Kaleb stood before him, listening with wide eyes. As such a meeting did not just mean the other Dragon Clans... but each major racial King or Queen.

Something that hadn’t happened in over 50,000 years.

"Is such a thi—"

Thud! Thud!

Ryder had barely started to speak when, out of nowhere, both heirs crumpled to the ground, collapsing onto the stone floor with a heavy, echoing thud.

In that exact moment, Akasha appeared right before the Dragon King, holding a small, elegant purple gift box tied with a pristine white bow.

"You...."

The Dragon King’s massive slitted eyes narrowed sharply as he stared at the blood-soaked intruder.

Inwardly, the ancient dragon’s mind raced, immediately connecting the figure before him to the frantic description Kaleb had given moments earlier — crimson-white hair, bloody eyes, void black horns, and that overwhelming draconic bloodline.

A low, dangerous rumble built in the Dragon King’s chest as smoke curled thicker from his nostrils.

Seeing this, Akasha bowed theatrically, a calm, almost playful smile on his face.

"For you, Your Majesty."

With a casual flick of his wrist, he tossed the gift box toward the colossal dragon.

Bang!

The box sailed through the air innocently... then gently bonked against the Dragon King’s massive nose with a soft thump.

For a split second, nothing happened.

HUMMMMMMM!!!!

Then the box shifted.

It unfolded and expanded into a massive, purple baseball bat construct.

BOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!

With one single, devastating swing, it turned the King of the Nova Dragons into straight paste. The colossal body exploded in a wet, gruesome burst of blood, scales, and shredded flesh that painted the entire throne chamber in a thick red mist.

SHK! SHK!

Akasha chuckled softly as he stepped forward, his purple-and-white scythe flashing twice in quick succession.

Ryder and Kaleb were killed instantly, their heads rolling across the blood-soaked floor before they could even wake up.

"And that... Kristen should already be dead," he muttered casually.

Then instead of leaving, Akasha sat down cross-legged in the middle of the carnage, completely unbothered by the gore surrounding him. He activated another innate power with calm focus.
