Chapter 554: Blood Cloning
Tianyi continued to spend time with Mengfei, but that didn’t mean he was idle. Inside his Nine Heavens Universe, a conduit appeared inside Nine Heavens Palace on Ninth Heaven. A handkerchief with a bloody splotch appeared on his palm out of nowhere.
The handkerchief twisted and writhed until a glob of blood was extracted from it, returning the handkerchief to its former pristine appearance.
Tianyi waved his hand and the glob of blood split in two. One was still a glob of blood, marginally smaller. The other was a drop of blood. The glob vanished, leaving behind the drop of blood.
Under Tianyi’s control, immortal qi of primordial chaos flowed into the drop of blood, infusing into it. The drop of blood darkened and increased in size until it was the size of an embryo. Just as the embryo grew into a fetus, cracks appeared all over it. Soon, it disintegrated, leaving behind only a blotch of black.
“I didn’t expect it to be so difficult to recreate my body. Is it because my immortal qi is too powerful?” Tianyi muttered. He tried again, but the result was the same. The third time, he tried to use pure essence. This time, it actually grew beyond the stage of a fetus, but it still failed.
Finally, Tianyi decomposed the energy into spiritual qi and attempted again. He successfully cultured a baby, but it had many problems. Although it appeared fine, that was only on the surface. Beneath the skin, it had many medical problems. Without Tianyi’s constant monitoring, it would have turned into a corpse.
“Damn, spiritual qi doesn’t work either,” Tianyi said. He thought it was going to be easy, maybe a few hiccups here and there, but not this difficult. He didn’t attempt to recreate his body anymore. Instead, he experimented with other people’s blood. After all, he only had a limited supply of his blood, and he didn’t want to ask for more from his mother.
Months later, Tianyi stood in the main hall of Nine Heavens Palace with a frown. He used many drops of blood from the people living in Sixth Heaven, but the results were not satisfying. They could be even worse than his first three attempts.
On the other hand, his comprehension of the Law of Blood increased dramatically. He gained insight into the Concept of Bloodline, Concept of Genetics, and other branches. However, it would take much longer than he expected to create a flesh and blood avatar.
“Were my first few experiments more successful because it was my own blood?” Tianyi muttered. Although he hadn’t studied his own flesh and blood before; it was still his own blood, so it was only logical that he had an intuitive understanding of it.
For others, that wouldn’t have been a problem, but Tianyi’s blood was in short supply. “I can only use people related to me.”
There was no way he would ask Mengfei to bleed for him, so that only left Meng Tingfeng. “Sperm Donor, it’s time to pay your rent.”

In a clearing next to a pond, a linen-robed man swung his sword through several stances. His face was ordinary, but it was pleasing to the eye. The sword in his hand appeared as plain as him, but when the sunlight reflected off its metallic surface, a pattern that resembled seven stars could be seen.
He was Meng Tingfeng. After the battle with Donghai Longzi and Ye Chen, he had disappeared. The Numinous Sword Sect and Immortal Court thought he perished in the battle, but Tianyi had secretly teleported him onto a remote planet inside the Nine Heavens Universe.
After arriving, Meng Tingfeng was shocked. However, he didn’t immediately explore the area and found a safe place to heal his injuries first. After he finished healing, he explored the place. Once he did, he couldn’t help but be shocked.
Meng Tingfeng only knew about realms and had never seen a planet before. Not only that, but he traveled through the void outside the planet. It was not as empty of spiritual qi as the Vast Void, but the spiritual qi was still very sparse. He had to return to the planet because the consumption of his qi exceeded the absorption and conversion of the spiritual qi.
He tried many times to explore and discovered where he was. The planet he lived on was part of a solar system. It was not a huge solar system, consisting of only six planets and a yellow star. He could only reach the edge of the solar system before he had to turn back because the amount of spiritual qi exponentially decreased the farther away he was from the star.
After attempting to leave multiple times, Meng Tingfeng returned to the planet, the second one from the star he first appeared on. He could survive on the other planets, but they were not as hospitable as the second planet. If he stayed there, it would only be to temper his immortal body and his mind would be in a constant state of pressure.
The second planet was the only one with life. Unfortunately, they were all beasts and monsters with no intellect or spirituality. The strongest one was only at the level of a venerable.
Meng Tingfeng set a goal for himself. Since he couldn’t leave, he would cultivate until he had the power to leave. From that moment on, he constantly practiced his sword arts every day and lived a peaceful life. The peaceful life did not cause him to become weaker. If anything, the tense state of his mind from the war slowly relaxed, and he reaped many benefits.
It was like the idiom: sharpening your axe will not delay your job of chopping wood.

When he finished the day’s practice, Meng Tingfeng slowly exhaled and sheathed the divine sword and looked up at stars slowly peeking out of the darkening sky. “Just where am I?”
After many years, Meng Tingfeng discovered the unique feature of the location. His sensitivity toward the worldly laws had diminished, but on certain nights when the stars shone bright, certain laws would become incredibly clear. So far, it only happened a few times, but Meng Tingfeng made sure to cherish those chances.
Unfortunately, tonight was not one of those nights.
Meng Tingfeng shook his head and returned to the log cabin he built. There was no bed, only a meditation seat he built. As a cultivator, he did not need to sleep and often meditated instead of sleeping.
In the middle of the night, when his guard was at its lowest, Meng Tingfeng snapped his eyes open and shifted to the side. Where he once sat, space split apart. The spatial slash was not too large nor powerful and could only slice through his skin and some of his muscles.
“Who are you? Come out?” Meng Tingfeng roared. In the years that he lived here, he had always felt as if something was off, like someone or something was paying attention to him. Now, with the sudden attack, he was even more sure of his guess.
However, no one answered him. Instead, the silence grew overwhelming, to the point that it had a physical presence.
Meng Tingfeng’s expression changed. Or at least he attempted to. It was not his imagination. The surrounding space had solidified, trapping him like an insect in amber. There was a presence in the air, one that made Meng Tingfeng feel like he was a mere ant. He had not felt such a sensation before, not even when he first encountered the Seven Star Sword. Even Sovereign Yanxu could not make him feel such pressure.
Although he struggled, there was nothing Meng Tingfeng could do to break free. It reminded him of his days before he embarked on the path of cultivation, where he had not grasped destiny in his hand.
Helpless, Meng Tingfeng could only watch as the skin on his arm split open and blood flowed out of his cut. The amount of blood drawn was abnormally large, and the amount seemed to be over ten times the amount his body should have been able to hold.
Although Meng Tingfeng possessed the normal height of a man, his body was already far beyond that. His weight alone could crush a hundred men to death easily if he just stood on top of them.
However, Meng Tingfeng’s face paled. Although his immortal body had a lot of blood, losing nearly ten of his body’s entire blood supply was dangerous. If any more was drawn, his immortal body would become damaged. Thankfully, the unknown force stopped.
His drawn blood disappeared, along with the pressure trapping him in place.
Meng Tingfeng gasped for air and gripped his divine sword as he stared warily at his surroundings, his immortal sense blazing. Logically, he knew that it was useless, but he could not help himself. An hour later, he finally calmed, and he walked out of his cabin, staring at the starry sky. “Just what was that?”
Tianyi sat on his throne in the main hall of the Nine Heavens Palace in a good mood. After bullying his sperm donor, all the stress and fatigue he accumulated while experimenting seemed to have disappeared.
“Let’s get started.”
As he expected, his chances of success increased more than ten times. It was no problem to grow a body to ten years of age. The only problem was that he would have to see Meng Tingfeng’s young face and be constantly reminded of the latter.
The new bodies cloned all had dull eyes and were unresponsive while they were alive. They couldn’t be called brain dead, but they had no thought at all. Without a soul, they were just husks.
Tianyi continued to experiment. Ten years later, an adult Meng Tingfeng stood in front of him with listless eyes. Although the body was an adult, he was only an ordinary person without any cultivation base.
“Strange, I used the blood of a monarch to create him, but why did an ordinary mortal appear? Is it some law?” Tianyi asked aloud while holding his chin. “Or is it because he was born and became an immortal in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System?”
To this day, no one could become an immortal in the Nine Heavens Universe. Well, Tianyi could forcibly ascend them, but it would not be of their own power. Even if they were immortal, the chances of them progressing would diminish. He guessed it was because the Nine Heavens Universe was still too imperfect.
“Forget it. Let’s attempt to transform it first,” Tianyi said.
Under Tianyi’s manipulation, Meng Tingfeng’s clone body changed. Its vitality surged, as did its lifespan. Qi gathering pupil, foundation establishment disciple, core formation master, but when the clone body attempted to reach the Nascent Soul Realm, it collapsed.
After many attempts, the results were still the same. “Is it because the body doesn’t have a soul? I’ll try martial cultivation.”
Tianyi created another body of Meng Tingfeng and started upgrading it. Body transforming acolyte, acupoint opening master, soul nourishing grandmaster, but on the attempt to ascend it to the World Merging Realm, the body collapsed.
“Another failure,” Tianyi muttered. He tried many times, but the results were still the same. “Is my technique imperfect, or is it because of the lack of soul?”
The soul was the foundation of all life. It could be said that it was even more important than the physical body and not just equal.
After thinking about it and testing several more times, Tianyi lost his patience. “Screw it, let’s try to possess it.”
He split a part of his soul off and merged it into the clone body of Meng Tingfeng that reached the Soul Nourishing Realm. The moment it entered, the body started collapsing again. “Crap, even if it’s not even a thousandth of my soul, it's still too powerful and the body is collapsing.”
Although Tianyi usually appeared in the form of a human, his true form was that of the Nine Heavens Universe. How could a mortal body withstand even a fragment of his soul?
After testing many times, he finally got the process down. He would possess the body with the smallest fragment he could split off and immediately ascend the cultivation base of the possessed body. He succeeded in breaking through to the World Merging Realm and he could even do it for the Nascent Soul Realm, but when he attempted to form an immortal body, it failed.
“Is it because this body wasn’t originally mine?” Tianyi asked again. “Should I attempt to do it with my own body? But I’m not sure of the success.”
He scratched his head. “Do I really have to ask for Mother’s blood? Even if I do, it’s too bad the created body will only have half of my genes. Where in the world could I find a donor with the same genes as me except my original body?”
Tianyi paused. His eyes flashed, and he palmed his face. “I forgot about Ba Shifang!”
