Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Female Study Companions and Requests

After briefly explaining the definition of the Profound Gate Ninth Layer, Jiang Ning’an hesitated. "But..."

"But what? Elder Jiang, don’t leave me hanging," Fang Can complained.

"Although the Profound Gate Ninth Layer is said to be the strongest realm of the Transcendent Body, the vast majority of cultivation techniques in the martial world can’t meet its requirements. Shedding seventy or eighty percent of the old body is the limit for most."

"And that eighty-eight-acupoint Cultivation Technique of yours is likely the same..." As she spoke, Jiang Ning’an looked at Fang Can with pity, as if watching a genius’s potential go to waste.

"Then what about your Cultivation Technique?" Fang Can asked.

"I naturally shed ninety-seven percent of my old blood, putting me on par with the third-generation Sect Leader." Jiang Ning’an said this with a hint of pride; after all, the founding ancestor only managed ninety-five percent.

"Then if you shed one hundred percent of your old blood, would that make you the strongest of the current generation in the Mortal Transformation Realm?" Fang Can continued to ask.

"That would require a top-tier Cultivation Technique paired with peerless aptitude. Ancient texts do mention the Profound Gate Tenth Layer, but no one has ever reached it."

Jiang Ning’an explained, "After all, it’s hard to train areas like the perineum, internal organs, the inside of the skull, bone marrow, eyes, and even hair. To completely shed the old in these places is exceedingly difficult."

"Then it sounds like it’s just waiting for me," Fang Can said confidently. His air of taking such an achievement for granted left Jiang Ning’an speechless.

After a quick wash in the early morning, Fang Can’s eyes were still bright and full of life, despite not having slept a wink all night.

After telling Jiang Ning’an to hide inside the room, Fang Can gently pushed the door open. The seemingly endless crowd from before had vanished.

Now, only a few people, including the stationed New Country police officers, remained outside.

"We welcome Young Master Fang Can on his inspection tour."

Just as he opened the door, four girls standing at the entrance—all with impeccable faces and figures—bowed to Fang Can in unison, their faces wreathed in smiles.

They radiated an aura of youth, an intoxicating scent that made one want to linger.

Fang Can: ’...Depraved! This is simply too depraved!’

"Well, well, this must be the esteemed Lord Fang Can." A voice, so eager to please it was practically groveling, came from the side.

Fang Can turned to see a middle-aged man in a sharp suit approaching him.

"You’re... the mayor of Z City?"

Fang Can recalled the man’s identity. Back in his school days, he would occasionally see this fellow speaking on the local TV station, though his attitude had never been as deferential as it was now.

"Heh, Lord Fang Can, no need to be so formal. I’m Li Zhenxian, but you can just call me Xiaoli," Mayor Li said, smiling and rubbing his hands together with a bashful look.

"Did you already disperse the crowd from earlier?" Fang Can asked.

"That’s right. Aside from essential personnel like doctors, police, and soldiers, I’ve had everyone else stay in the nearby buildings. They’ll only return to work after Carnival Day is over."

"We’re also doing our best to resolve the food supply issues, to ensure everything goes smoothly over the next few days," Li Zhenxian explained.

Following his explanation, Fang Can gazed into the distance. Sure enough, in the surrounding buildings, countless eyes were fixed on this very spot.

Li Zhenxian had wanted to send them all home, but the people were too scared to separate, insisting on staying near Fang Can. It was as if the entire city had become his devoted followers.

"You’ve done a pretty good job," Fang Can said with a nod of approval. "I’ll be counting on you to maintain order for the next few days."

"Not at all, not at all. It’s our duty," Li Zhenxian said with a smile, waving his hand dismissively. "From now on, if Lord Fang Can has any requests, just tell these people at the door. We will do everything in our power to fulfill them."

"Oh... right." Li Zhenxian slapped his forehead. "I almost forgot! Lord Fang Can, you’re still a student preparing for your exams this year. Even though these are extraordinary times, we can’t let your studies fall behind, can we?"

"So?" Fang Can looked at him. ’Surely he isn’t about to spout some nonsense about me having to study,’ he thought.

Li Zhenxian gave an "if you know, you know" smile and gestured to the four women standing nearby.

"To ensure Young Master Fang’s studies aren’t held back, I’ve specially arranged for these ’tutors’ to help you with your lessons."

Noticing Fang Can’s expression, Li Zhenxian added with a guarantee, "Young Master, rest assured, they all have at least a bachelor’s degree. I guarantee they’ll allow you to fully experience the profound influence of knowledge during your... cultural exchange."

Fang Can thought, ’..."Tutors," huh? I don’t even have the heart to call you out. What kind of official could resist this kind of temptation?’

Seeing Fang Can’s silence, Li Zhenxian quickly assured him, "This is all completely voluntary. They are all sincere in their desire to help Young Master Fang improve his academic performance."

And in fact, Li Zhenxian was telling the truth. There were so many volunteers who wanted to be Fang Can’s "tutor" that he’d gone cross-eyed sorting through their photos the previous night.

In the end, he had to pick the few with the highest academic qualifications from dozens of candidates.

So you see, my friends, getting an education really can change your fate!

The only problem was that Li Zhenxian had been out of the academic world for so long that his understanding was a bit skewed.

Having a group of undergrad and graduate students tutor a high school senior like Fang Can was, frankly, a bit ridiculous.

After all, if you made these undergrads and graduate students retake the college entrance exams, you’d be lucky if they scored high enough to get into a community college. That alone would prove they’d remembered anything at all from their high school days.

"Alright, alright, I can feel your sincerity."

Fang Can waved his hand. "But I’ve been focusing on my training lately, so I don’t really have time for studying. Let’s just put a pin in these tutoring opportunities for now."

Seeing Li Zhenxian’s surprised expression, Fang Can felt a pang of regret. It was a shame he had an elder hiding in his room who couldn’t be revealed, otherwise he might have just feigned reluctance before accepting.

Besides, there was a saying that one’s progress with the Transcendent Body was faster if one preserved their vital essence. For now, he’d just have to let his little brother suffer for a few more days.

Looking at Li Zhenxian, Fang Can thought for a moment before saying, "Old Li, there are a few things I need you to handle for me."

"Of course, no problem! As long as it’s within my power, I’ll get it done without delay." Hearing that Fang Can needed his help, Li Zhenxian puffed out his chest and pounded it emphatically.

"I need some basic self-defense weapons. Oh, and get me some poisons. Also, I need you to have a custom energy-generating device made for me..."

Fang Can laid out all of his requests for Li Zhenxian.

After all, he might be heading to the Otherworld in a few days. He had to get his preparations in order as quickly as possible, and a perfect channel for acquiring things had just presented itself.

Li Zhenxian agreed to Fang Can’s requests without a moment’s hesitation, promising he would put all his effort into accomplishing them.

Gathering these items wasn’t difficult, after all. The resources of the entire city were now at Fang Can’s disposal.

He could even command the engineering and chemistry Ph.D.s at the local university, so fulfilling Fang Can’s requests truly wouldn’t be hard.

Whatever poisons or devices he wanted, as long as the materials were available, they could be produced for him within the day.

Throughout the entire process, Li Zhenxian acted like a loyal underling, never once questioning Fang Can’s identity. He simply believed, and that was that.

The current situation was working out very well for him, after all. If he started asking questions and happened to uncover something inconvenient, that would be bad for everyone.
