Chapter 398: Chapter 98: Back from the Dead
After mourning, the Captain of the Gray-White Angels looked at his teammates.
After transforming from Heavy Armor Warriors to the shape of Gray-White Angels, the Gray-White Warriors, who were already at an Advanced Tier, saw their power soar once again.
Now, how could those High-Level Demons be a match for this group of Gray-White Angels?
The Captain didn’t even need to make a move; over a hundred High-Level Demons were either dead or captured.
As for the casualties among the Gray-White Angels?
Besides one death, only about twenty were injured, and the rest only consumed some energy.
"Rest, eat." The Captain walked forward and collected the ’corpse’ of the fallen Gray-White Angel, which was now just a suit of damaged Gray-White Armor, and gave the order to the other Gray-White Warriors, who had returned to their normal human forms.
Death is inevitable, and the Gray-White Warriors showed little sadness for the death of their comrades, remaining unusually indifferent.
In some respect, whether they were originally human is still a question.
After all, even a Demon, once deeply infused with Void Power, can be transformed by the Black Dragon Lord into a human form within the Gray-White Space.
These demons, whose appearance changed to that of humans under the effect of Void Power, had a portion of their chaotic nature removed while gaining a sense of loyalty to the Black Dragon Lord. However, their original indifferent feelings and bloodthirsty nature were retained.
To a group of bloodthirsty demons, why would they mourn a comrade’s death?
Only a rare few Gray-White Angels, who were originally normal humans before being converted, might feel sorrow for their comrades’ deaths. But their unwavering loyalty to the Black Dragon Lord allows them to swiftly suppress these emotions and continue executing their tasks flawlessly.
.....In the Gray-White Space, on the Gray-White Square.
In his Void Gray-White form, Udi was tirelessly pulling suitable souls from various locations of the Tal Material Plane into this place, then infusing them with Void Power to transform them into various forms of Gray-White creatures.
Among these Gray-White creatures, the most numerous were the Gray-White Angels.
Under normal circumstances, Gray-White Angels can serve as a flying troop. They are agile, capable of executing various tactics, and in human form, they can learn human combat skills while moving more freely in the Tal Plane.
Though the Tal Plane is not primarily a human-dominated plane, it indeed allows more convenient movement in human form.
Why not make Gray-White followers with an Elf appearance? Elves can also navigate freely, can’t they?
That’s because Elves with wings seem a bit odd, whereas humans with wings appear more normal. In the Star Realm, Winged People form a huge branch, including Black-winged People, White-winged People, Fallen Feathered People, Gray-winged Monsters, and even Harpies, which to some extent, can be considered a type of Winged People...
Apart from a large number of Gray-White Angels, other forms of Gray-White creatures are scarce.
There are a few Gray-White creatures in land beast forms, some in flying creature forms, and others in their original racial forms, such as the Jackal Wolfman followers who remain in Jackal Wolfman shape after transformation, or Giant Demons that retain their original form, although they acquire a transforming Gray-White form.
After all, although Gray-White Angels are both practical and visually appealing, having an entire ’city of monsters’ filled with ’humans’ would be quite strange for a Black Dragon Lord.
Furthermore, many followers are unwilling to transform into another racial form, preferring to keep their own racial form. In this case, Udi doesn’t wish to be overly authoritarian.
While converting a new batch of one hundred Gray-White Angel Warriors, Udi was suddenly taken aback.
On the Gray-White Square, a three-meter-tall Gray-White Angel Warrior, who had been standing still with eyes closed like a statue, suddenly opened his eyes.
"I’m... not dead?" The Gray-White Angel was somewhat bewildered, and as his pupils focused, he saw the Gray White Dragon not far away.
In a flash, the Gray White Dragon arrived in front of him.
"Master." The Gray-White Angel instinctively knelt and lowered his head.
Udi looked at the Gray-White Angel with uncertainty and suspicion.
It ’remembered’ this High-level Gray-White Angel, because just moments ago, the power from this Gray-White Angel’s death had merged with Udi.
"Did the soul not follow the power and get devoured by me?" Udi mused inwardly.
In the past, when these followers died, their souls and everything would merge into Udi’s body, becoming its nourishment, a process actually uncontrollable by Udi.
It could only choose whether to absorb or not, but couldn’t control how much, or which part to absorb.
But now, after this Gray-White Angel died, all physical aspects merged with Udi, but the soul remained separate and autonomously returned to the Gray-White Space without Udi actively drawing it back.
"Is it the special nature of Gray-White creatures?" Udi muttered to itself.
It recalled carefully that this Gray-White Angel seemed indeed the first Gray-White creature to die.
Not much time had passed since Udi started converting Gray-White creatures, and those initially transformed were the strongest batch, starting from Master Level, then to Advanced. Conversion of Middle Level Gray-White creatures only began in the last two days.
Having initially Advanced or even Master Level strength, and a significant power surge after transforming into a Gray-White creature with Void Power, naturally makes them less prone to death.
