Chapter 1063: 709 How dare you threaten me?
Du Heng was focused on speaking with Deputy Dean Zhang and didn’t notice the car pulling in.
Now hearing the sound, Du Heng turned around immediately. "Bro, how did you get here so fast?"
Wu Shengnan’s brother poked his head out of the car window, a ferocious smile on his face. "Someone had the gall to threaten to run over my brother-in-law! You think I could afford to be slow?"
As he spoke, he gave a twisted laugh, clearly quite furious.
"You go park the car first. Then we’ll go upstairs together. I’ll let you see what kind of big shot this is—he’s quite scary." Du Heng then turned to Deputy Dean Zhang. "Keep contacting Fan Bangjun. It’s best to have him deal with this."
"Also, if these people continue to cause trouble, call the police directly. Stop dawdling."
After speaking with Deputy Dean Zhang, Du Heng walked quickly towards Wu Shengnan’s brother, who had just parked the car.
Wu Shengnan’s brother exuded a fierce aura. At this moment, he didn’t look like a government official at all, but more like one of those arrogant young masters from TV shows.
"You just said that kid’s name is Qiao Zhenghai, right?"
"Yes, that’s what he said. He also mentioned his father’s name was Qiao Yuncheng." Du Heng casually replied to his brother-in-law, "He’s extremely arrogant. He threw money in my face, threatened me to be careful when I go out, and even said my car was too crappy, with a low safety rating. The guy’s terrifying! Bro, this Qiao Zhenghai, or rather, this Qiao Yuncheng—what’s his background?"
Wu Shengnan’s brother swaggered ahead, his car key swinging casually on his finger. "To be honest, I’m not very familiar with Qiao Zhenghai, but I’ve met Qiao Yuncheng a couple of times. He’s utterly shameless. Quite a character, that one."
"Very impressive?" Du Heng asked curiously.
"Qiao Yuncheng is 51 this year and currently claims to be the richest man in North River District. He’s involved in real estate, catering, property management, and supermarkets, so he has some influence."
His brother-in-law said nonchalantly, "The most interesting thing about this man isn’t how much money he has, but his shamelessness and his willingness to exploit any loophole."
"The richest man, huh? No wonder this kid is so cocky," Du Heng laughed. "Can you tell me more?"
"What’s there not to tell? He’s just a slippery, cunning businessman." His brother-in-law curled his lip. "When Qiao Yuncheng was young, he was a worker in a boiler factory. Later, when the factory was struggling and about to be restructured, he got some money from his first father-in-law and took it over."
"Later, his factory land was incorporated into the University Town development. So, he ditched his wife and, somehow, hooked up with the daughter of a city leader at the time."
"Not only did he manage to keep his factory, but he also got its land-use designation changed."
"And just like that, leveraging the University Town, he’s made a killing off the students in recent years."
Du Heng nodded beside him. "That’s true. Students are easy money, and in University Town, anyone with a piece of land can make a fortune, even a fool."
"I’ve seen his younger wife; she’s borne him two daughters, both still in school," his brother-in-law said leisurely. "So this Qiao Zhenghai must be the son from his first wife."
"Qiao Yuncheng’s current wife is no pushover. I reckon Qiao Zhenghai was raised by his ex-wife and was only brought to Qiao Yuncheng’s side in recent years."
"So when you mentioned it, I pretty much figured it out. This Qiao Zhenghai is probably the type who got rich suddenly and now can’t keep himself in check."
Du Heng raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised. "Well, I guessed wrong then. I figured he was just some rich family’s spoiled brat."
His brother-in-law nodded in agreement. "That’s also possible." But then his expression turned serious. "Either way, I’m definitely going to beat that bad habit out of him today."
Chatting and laughing, the two walked into the office and immediately saw the young man still sitting on the sofa.
"That’s him?" Wu Shengnan’s brother pointed and casually asked Du Heng.
Du Heng nodded. "Yes, that’s him."
Wu Shengnan’s brother had now shed his cavalier air, appearing very proper. He walked up to Qiao Zhenghai with a grin and asked, "You’re Qiao Zhenghai?"
"Yes. Who are you?" Qiao Zhenghai asked, but the nervous flicker in his eyes showed he clearly recognized the man before him.
However, Wu Shengnan’s brother ignored his question and continued politely, "And your father is Qiao Yuncheng?"
"That’s right."
Wu Shengnan’s brother grinned widely. "Did you just say you wanted to run my brother-in-law over?"
"I came to invite him, but he showed no respect for me, or for my father..."
SMACK!
Before Qiao Zhenghai could finish, the grinning Wu Shengnan’s brother swung his hand and landed a solid slap across his face.
After striking him, Wu Shengnan’s brother’s expression didn’t change; he still wore that cheerful grin.
But Qiao Zhenghai, once so arrogant, was now clutching his face, staring at Wu Shengnan’s brother in shock. "You... you dare hit me?"
At these words, Wu Shengnan’s brother burst out laughing and turned to Du Heng. "Xiao Heng, is this kid a bit slow? I’ve already hit him, and he’s asking if I *dare* to?"
But he didn’t wait for Du Heng’s reply, turning back to Qiao Zhenghai. "Is your ’face’ so valuable? Is Qiao Yuncheng’s ’face’ so important?"
