In a person’s life, exactly how many times could one experience the feeling of their neck rotating one hundred and eighty degrees and their cervical spine snapping outright?
For a normal person, probably only once. Because when your neck twisted to that extent, you were most likely about to go meet the Goddess and throw yourself into Her warm embrace.
But for Muen, this feeling was not singular.
It was continuous. Repeated.
He had even finally understood, from another perspective, what an “attack helicopter” truly was.
Not in the gender sense.
In the physical sense of an attack helicopter.
After all, if his head kept getting twisted back and forth like this, he was genuinely about to take off on the spot.
“Li... Li-Li-Li-Liya!”
With his head constantly rotating back and forth, Muen could only let out a long, dragged-out wail.
“H-help... help-help-help me!”
“Fiiine.”
Liya, who had been playing to her heart’s content, puffed out her cheeks before finally deciding to get serious. After all, her beloved Muen had already begged her like this. How could she possibly continue pretending not to notice?
As for punishment, she could settle that after dealing with the thing in front of her!
“Take this!”
Liya multitasked effortlessly. While using Holy Light to protect Muen’s neck, she simultaneously condensed Holy Light into a burning Spear of Judgment that pierced through the space before the pure-white man in an instant!
The pure-white man reacted equally quickly. The moment the Spear of Judgment launched, thick tentacles immediately curled back and tightly wrapped around the Holy Light spear.
Holy Light continuously scorched flesh, letting out sharp sizzling sounds, yet the pure-white man did not care in the slightest.
After all, those tentacles were not his own. Why would he feel bad for them?
“That’s it?”
Seeing the attack blocked so easily, the pure-white man immediately sneered.
He had wondered how powerful this little girl who suddenly appeared could be. So she was just a healer who only knew recovery magic!
It seemed that although he had wandered this Sea of the Abyss for ages and long since knew little about the outside era, some things remained universal no matter the age.
Existences as terrifying as that woman earlier were absolutely rare!
Someone capable of cornering him at that level, even forcing him to exile her first, would be the highest tier of heaven’s chosen in any era, a genius among geniuses! A special existence who, once fully grown, could influence an entire age!
Encountering one was already absurd enough.
How could he possibly encounter two at the same time?
And judging from appearances, both were Muen Campbell’s lovers?
That was not scientific!
Therefore, in conclusion, as long as this woman could not threaten him, the overall situation had not changed much.
First suppress Muen Campbell with the puppet doll, then use his own strength to eliminate this woman and return everything to the proper track!
His restraint over Muen Campbell was absolute.
The advantage was still his!
“Die!”
Donna’s face on the pure-white man twisted into a savage grin as the thick tentacles lunged toward Liya. At the same time, his own movements were not slow in the slightest. In the blink of an eye, he had already closed in right before Liya.
Healers feared close combat the most. That was common knowledge in every era!
It would have been one thing if someone could help restrain him for her, but right now Muen Campbell was still being hard-locked in place by his endlessly rotating head. How could he possibly spare any attention for his little girlfriend number two?
Therefore, there was naturally no second possible outcome for what came next.
“Speaking of which, your face is pretty good too. Hand it over to me!”
The pure-white man laughed in delight. Liya did not react at all, as though she had been frightened stupid. In his mind, he could already see the expression of despair on Muen Campbell’s face after he peeled away this little woman’s adorable face!
Letting Muen Campbell receive grace amidst endless despair and agony would undoubtedly make his Lord even more—
“BANG!”
Accompanied by a sudden loud explosion, the pure-white man’s body abruptly halted in the middle of his triumph.
Not because he had sensed something and stopped voluntarily.
Rather, his body that lunged toward Liya had suddenly slammed into an invisible wall.
Like an octopus smashed violently against hard crystal glass, the tentacles around the pure-white man flattened from the tremendous impact, nearly becoming grilled octopus strips.
The pure-white man himself was not much better off. His body was gaunt and elongated, already completely different from that of an ordinary human, but he still retained a basic sense of pain.
Thus, the moment he crashed into it, he felt as though he had slammed directly into a mountain.
The mountain remained completely unmoved.
Meanwhile, stars exploded before his eyes, leaving him utterly miserable.
“W-what... what is this?”
The pure-white man took several seconds to recover from his dizziness. Fortunately, the puppet doll’s ability required no active concentration from him, so there was no fear of Muen Campbell taking advantage of this chance to launch a sneak attack.
But he was still dumbfounded.
Because as his thin fingers groped through the air before him, he discovered there truly was an invisible barrier standing in front of him.
“A Holy Light barrier.”
Liya blinked, as though introducing something perfectly ordinary.
“A Holy Light barrier?”
The pure-white man focused carefully. Only then did he realize the barrier was pale gold in color. It was simply because the Holy Light surrounding the girl was too dense, completely concealing the barrier’s radiance and aura, that he had failed to detect it before attacking.
“It’s this hard?”
He threw another punch against it with force, only to discover that aside from the burning sensation growing even stronger, the barrier did not even produce the slightest ripple.
This left the pure-white man even more stunned.
After all, although in his eyes this suddenly appearing little girl was merely a harmless healer, out of instinctive caution, his earlier attack had already used his full strength!
That was a terrifying strike equivalent to a peak fifth-rank warrior combined with Donna’s powerful deep-sea magical beast physique. He believed that even Muen Campbell could only temporarily avoid its edge.
Yet that attack, together with his entire body smashing into the barrier, had done absolutely nothing to it?
That was not scientific!
“Are you Crowned?”
The pure-white man stared at Liya in horror.
“Nope.”
Liya blinked again, adorable and innocent.
“I don’t even mainly cultivate as a warrior. I just trained a little recently to strengthen my body.”
“Are you a Truth-Rank Grand Sorcerer?”
The pure-white man no longer dared relax.
“Nope again.”
Liya shook her head, harmless as a pure little white rabbit.
“I’m still quite a ways away from that realm!”
“Then are you someone bearing Divine Favor?”
The pure-white man continued asking.
“Even more nope!”
Liya puffed her cheeks.
“Although my best friend is someone bearing Divine Favor. Lately she’s been getting more and more annoying though. She’s always fighting me for him. Hmph!”
“Not Crowned... not Truth-Rank... and not someone bearing Divine Favor?”
The pure-white man’s thoughts raced.
If she was none of those three, then this barrier... came from some external force?
Could it be that this woman’s identity was extremely special, and some powerful being had specifically created this barrier for her?
Only then did the pure-white man notice Liya’s clothing was exceptionally refined and noble, while the flower crown atop her head clearly carried some sacred aura.
A believer of whom?
The pure-white man had remained in this Sea of the Abyss all this time, and all information regarding Muen Campbell came from his Lord’s revelations, so his understanding of the outside world was limited.
But now he could roughly infer that this girl was absolutely connected to some deity—or some church!
“A blessing from a god? I understand now. No wonder you can produce something this troublesome. But there are limits to this!”
The pure-white man sneered once more.
“A barrier this durable must consume enormous amounts of blessing every second. As long as I keep attacking and draining it continuously, let’s see how long you can endure!”
The moment he said it, he acted.
The pure-white man launched another attack directly!
Ten strikes...
“Not bad!”
One hundred strikes...
“Looks like that god has quite a lot of believers!”
Two hundred strikes...
“Could you actually be the pope of that church? I underestimated you...”
Five hundred strikes!
“...”
After a full five hundred attacks, the pure-white man already felt as though his entire body was about to fall apart.
Yet the Holy Light barrier remained.
Indestructible.
Not even the slightest dimming or shaking appeared.
“How can it last this long?”
The pure-white man went completely numb.
The enemy’s barrier still stood firm, yet he felt the barrier inside his own heart was already beginning to collapse.
That Holy Light... that divine blessing...
Did it not cost money?!
He had worked so hard, struggled so painfully, endured so much suffering just to obtain his Lord’s grace...
So why could you—
This was not scientific!
Donna’s face twisted savagely once more as the pure-white man threw all thoughts aside and launched another frenzied assault against the barrier!
The five hundred and first strike!
...Naturally, still utterly useless.
Meanwhile, on the other side, someone else also felt the barrier in his own heart beginning to collapse.
“Li... Li-Li-Li-Liya!”
After being rotated around for this long, Muen felt tears from this mighty man were genuinely about to spill out.
“S-stop... stop fucking playing around already! If this keeps going... not just me, even my soul’s gonna ascend to heaven!”
“I just wanted to stay with you a little longer!”
Liya puffed out her cheeks, clearly dissatisfied with Muen urging her, but ultimately her concern outweighed her complaints, so she decided to end things quickly.
With a flick of her finger, the Holy Light barrier blocking the pure-white man finally disappeared.
“You finally ran out of power?”
Believing Liya’s oil lamp had run dry, the pure-white man was overjoyed. He assumed his relentless attacks had finally achieved their proper result.
Yet in the next instant, Liya’s adorable face turned serious as she coldly declared:
“Run out of power? No. This is only the beginning.”
“Bind!”
Her beautiful voice, crisp as a songbird, echoed throughout the ruined city, causing the pure-white man—who had just attempted to seize the opportunity—to freeze in place once more.
This time, however, it was not because he had stopped himself.
Rather, the moment Liya’s words fell, dozens of golden chains erupted violently from the ground and wrapped around him.
His arms, legs, head, torso—even Donna’s tentacles—were all tightly restrained by the chains.
The pure-white man struggled with all his strength, only to discover that the physical power he had always taken pride in was utterly useless at this moment.
He could not break free.
At the very least, not in a short amount of time.
The pure-white man lowered his head and discovered faint magical inscriptions flashing beneath the chains. They linked together into a gigantic array resembling a galaxy!
“When?”
The pure-white man stared in disbelief.
He had always believed the battle against this girl was entirely under his control. At worst, her turtle shell was simply a little tougher than expected.
But when had this magical array been constructed?
He had not sensed it whatsoever!
“From the beginning, of course.”
Liya smiled mischievously.
“What’s so surprising about that? It was only a little over a thousand inscriptions. Isn’t that something you can finish in the blink of an eye?”
Over a thousand?
In the blink of an eye?
Were those words that could casually be connected together?!
This was not scientific!
This was completely fucking unscientific!
The pure-white man roared internally in madness. He finally realized how naive and ridiculous his earlier assumptions had been.
This girl before him was entirely on the same level as the black-clothed girl he had exiled earlier.
Both were monsters capable of casually slaughtering him!
Goddammit...
Where exactly did Muen Campbell keep fishing up so many monster-level lovers from?
Could one man even survive that?!
Unfortunately, he would never receive an answer to that question.
Because once again, he felt heat.
An incomparably intense heat.
He blankly raised his head and saw the Spear of Judgment that he had easily blocked earlier now suspended above him.
Ordinarily, a mere Spear of Judgment should not have threatened him. He had casually blocked the previous one.
But now, above his head, there was not one spear.
There were... tens of thousands.
Countless Spears of Judgment filled the sky, every single one carrying divine blessing, dyeing the heavens in incomparably brilliant radiance.
The pure-white man could no longer remember how long it had been since he last saw such a bright sky.
As a result, even Donna’s face began shedding tears.
“You motherf—”
Before he could finish speaking, endless Holy Light descended with a deafening roar, swallowing both the pure-white man and the unfinished profanity still leaving his mouth.
Beneath the blazing Holy Light—
All filth returned to nothingness.
...
...
“Cough... cough cough...”
Sea of the Abyss, somewhere within a cave.
From the shadows, a heart suddenly rolled outward, staining itself with dirt and dust until it finally stopped at a place touched by a faint trace of light.
Thump.
Thump-thump.
The once-dead heart suddenly began beating. Blackened arteries pumped out blood that spread and gathered into a pool.
First emerged a pale hand.
Then finally, a gaunt body so thin it was almost indescribable.
The figure staggered out from the blood pool.
The pure-white man!
After suffering such a horrifying attack, he still had not died...
Or rather, he could revive once again!
“Cough cough... damn it!”
The pure-white man took a deep breath, sensing the weakness and miserable state of his body, filled with regret.
The collected faces were gone. He could no longer use those methods against Muen Campbell.
The power accumulated within this body over countless years was also gone. In his current state, his strength might not even compare to an ordinary fifth-rank warrior.
If he had not separated an extra heart in advance before Ghoul’s face was destroyed, he would have already been completely burned to ash beneath that endless Holy Light.
The plan had failed completely.
Up until then, nearly everything had been within his control. There was no doubt Muen Campbell had already been driven into a dead end by his carefully prepared combination of counters.
But the only variable was...
That woman was too terrifying.
Although she appeared soft and adorable on the surface, whether it was the overwhelming Holy Light or the invisible formation-building ability, both were no weaker than the black-clothed girl earlier.
He had lost miserably.
Both before, and just now!
But it did not matter.
He was still alive.
After being trapped in this Sea of the Abyss in disguised imprisonment for so long, he had long since learned patience and endurance.
Temporary failure meant nothing.
He still had a chance to complete his Lord’s mission!
And next time...
He refused to believe Muen Campbell still had another lover that terrifying!
He refused to believe it!!!
“I will definitely succeed! I absolutely won’t fail again!”
The pure-white man furiously slammed his fist into the ground, reaffirming his determination once more.
“Hm?”
But right then, a puzzled voice suddenly rang out, breaking the silence within the hidden cave.
The pure-white man blankly raised his head and saw a gigantic bandage-wrapped greatsword slam into the ground before him with a heavy crunch.
A girl dressed in sharp combat attire shook her head before bending down and curiously examining the figure before her.
“Teacher, are there really magical beasts this strange inside ancient ruins? And it even looks like... it can talk?”
