Chapter 1487: Chapter 211 - The Seven Deadly Sins (4)

Foriel’s POV

I was honestly surprised to learn that those two were in that kind of relationship, but... well, considering how worried Mr. Faust always seemed whenever it came to her, I guess part of me already knew they were involved in a sexual relationship.

Even so, I couldn’t say that their relationship was exactly normal.

I wouldn’t call it weird either, but it definitely wasn’t what most people would consider conventional. I had heard of relationships like that before, especially among certain families that wanted to preserve their lineage, but even then, it was still something that most people would find unusual.

Then again, after thinking about it for a few moments, maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised at all.

So when the truth finally became clear, it wasn’t exactly shocking.

More than anything, what stood out to me was how obvious it was that they genuinely cared about each other. It wasn’t something that needed to be explained. You could simply tell by looking at them.

Because of that, I decided not to interfere.

If they wanted some time together, then they deserved to have it.

Meanwhile, I decided to spend some time walking around the town where we were currently staying.

As I made my way through the streets, I quickly noticed that the atmosphere felt different compared to before.

The town wasn’t completely empty, but it definitely felt quieter.

There were fewer people walking around.

Fewer merchants calling out to customers.

Fewer children running through the streets.

Even the usual noise that towns tended to have felt weaker than before.

It didn’t take long for me to understand why.

Satania’s influence was continuing to spread.

Every day that passed seemed to bring another report about her growing power, another story about another settlement falling into chaos, and another warning that things were only getting worse.

Naturally, people were scared.

And when people became scared enough, they started looking for somewhere safer to go.

Many families had already begun leaving their homes behind and migrating to other regions in the hope of escaping whatever disaster might come next.

Honestly, I couldn’t blame them.

Satania was becoming stronger at an alarming rate.

The more powerful she became, the more fear spread among the population.

And fear had a way of moving people faster than almost anything else.

People could tolerate hardship.

People could tolerate uncertainty.

What they couldn’t tolerate was the feeling that death might suddenly show up at their doorstep one day.

"Madam."

A voice called out from behind me.

I stopped walking and turned around.

The person standing there was someone I recognized immediately.

She was one of the members of my organization.

Her appearance made her difficult to forget. She had large tusks and facial features that resembled those of an elephant. Despite her intimidating appearance, she was intelligent, reliable, and had been helping gather information regarding Satania’s activities for quite some time now.

Unfortunately, she had also suffered greatly because of Satania.

Like many others, she had lost people she cared about during one of Satania’s attacks.

"Do you have any news?" I asked. "I’m talking about Satania."

"We’ve received new reports," she replied. "According to our sources, Satania is currently moving toward the Empire of Rodonia."

That immediately caught my attention.

"The Empire of Rodonia?" I repeated. "Why would she be heading there?"

"It seems she’s planning to meet with the Emperor."

My brows furrowed slightly.

"Really? What would Satania even want with the Emperor of Rodonia?"

"The unification of the Great Forest."

The moment she said those words, everything suddenly started making more sense.

"Ah..."

I couldn’t help letting out a small sound of realization.

If that was the reason, then I could definitely understand why the Emperor would be interested.

The unification of the Great Forest had caused massive problems for the Empire.

Before that happened, the Empire’s ambitions had been growing steadily.

They wanted expansion.

They wanted influence.

They wanted power.

Most importantly, they wanted to continue pushing forward.

But the Great Forest had united against them.

Various groups that normally wouldn’t have worked together had set aside their differences long enough to form a common front.

That single development had effectively blocked the Empire’s path.

Not only had it prevented further expansion, but it had also made it significantly harder for the Empire to challenge the other major powers of the world.

At present, there were essentially three major forces maintaining the balance of power.

The Empire of Rodonia.

Milham.

And the newly established republic that had once existed as a principality.

None of them had been able to gain a decisive advantage over the others.

It was a stalemate.

A very large and very complicated stalemate.

Every nation was looking for a way to break that balance.

Every ruler was searching for an opportunity.

And now it seemed the Emperor believed Satania might be that opportunity.

"Why would Satania agree to something like this?" I asked.

The woman frowned.

"It appears that part of the agreement involves the casualties of future wars."

I already had a bad feeling about where this was going.

"Meaning?"

"Anyone who dies during those conflicts, whether they’re soldiers from the Empire or from the opposing side, would become available for Satania’s experimentation."

My expression immediately darkened.

Of course.

Of course that would be part of the deal.

"That bitch isn’t satisfied with what she already has," the woman continued, her voice filled with irritation. "She’s trying to increase the size of her forces even further. Everything we’ve gathered suggests she’s fully committed to escalating things."

The anger in her voice was impossible to miss.

Honestly, I couldn’t blame her.

Not even a little.

Satania had ruined countless lives.

She had destroyed families.

She had taken loved ones away.

The woman standing before me was only one example among many.

"We need to stop Satania as quickly as possible," she said firmly. "If we don’t, she’ll continue getting stronger until nobody can stop her from achieving whatever she’s planning."

I slowly nodded.

She was right.

Every word she said was right.

The longer Satania remained unchecked, the more dangerous the situation would become.

We couldn’t afford to sit around hoping someone else would solve the problem.

We had to act.

And we had to act before it was too late.

"I understand," I said.

After thinking for a few moments, I let out a quiet sigh.

"In that case, I suppose I need to make sure I convince Mr. Faust."
