Chapter 243: The Dwarven Kingdom
After parting from Rein and finallynreachung the dwarven kingdom, for the past eight days of Rein’s arrival, Ariel and the others have been taken captive by the dwarves and labelled as intruders.
A large cart arrived in front of the capital city gate, a cart with little goods and six grown up men.
"Who are these people?!" The dwarven guard asked.
He didn’t wait for the man to reply,
"Don’t you know visitors are not allowed because of the disaster" he said.
"I’m sorry sir but they are my workmen" the man riding the cart said.
The guard let out a sigh, "I’m only allowing it because you are our favourite booze merchant" he said.
"Of course, I’ll bring you a special flavour when next I’m coming" the man said.
"Open the gates" the guard yelled.
The metallic gate rose up and they were granted access into the city.
"Dwarves and alcohol, it seems they have not changed even after so many years" Theophilus said as he looked around the busy city.
Every here and there could be seen a parade of soldiers.
"...what is it with the huge security, are they always this guarded?" Rein asked.
"Oh...sir it is because of the peculiarity of this time" the 9ld man riding the cart replied.
"Explain better" Rein said
"I don’t know the specific details but it seems the dwarves are being attacked, a lot of humans are being labelled as invaders and are being killed by the sea, at the northern side of the Palace as you can see the other side of the dwarvem kingdom is exposed to the large sea."
"...hmm, for some reason, I’m worried about them"
"Who?" The man asked.
"My friends that came here earlier than I" Rein said.
"I can’t guarantee that they have not been taken, even you too, I can’t guarantee your safety but since you have given me quite a heavy sum of money I can’t even earn in twn years, I have nothing to say" He said.
Rein did not respond to what he said and silence covered the atmosphere as the cart proceeded and finally stopped after a few turns.
"This is my stop, I look forward to see you again sir" he said and bowed.
Rein received his greetings by placing his hands on the old man’s shoulder and left with the rest of them.
’Rich kids these days are really disrespectful’ the man said in his mind as he watched Rein and his crewmates go farther. He brought out the heavy bag of gold coins,
"Well, this must be fortune for me" he said, jiggling the bag and entering into his shop.
"First of all, we have to gather information", Rein said as they walked down the street without a specific location.
"Twen, Mos and Levon I know this is the first time walking amidst these much people but you should act natural" Rein said but no one responded, he turned back but they were not behind him again.
"Ohhhnooooo!!! Why?!!! Now?!!!" He shouted.
Theophilus went on one knee, "my lord if you will perm–"
"I permit you" Reinard said.
"But my lord you have not heard my request" he said.
"Don’t worry, I know it in my heart..." Rein said while still looking around.
Theophilus stared at Rein, as though Reinard was glowing before his eyes.
He stood up quick, "I will surely find them" then ran off.
"Eh? Find who? This bastard where does he know?!!"
That moment Rein sighted Twen with a red apple in his mouth and a vendor holding tight his collar, though his attention was all focused on the apple.
Rein got there,
"Hmm, master master, this thing has to be divine, I have never tasted anything like this in my entire life"
Rein gave him a disgustingly frustrated look, he gave a gold coin to the vendor.
"Customer, this is too much for one apple" the vendor said with a pretentious smile
Rein looked at him, ’...sellers are the same be it on earth or here’
"I’m buying all the red apples" he said.
"Oh" the seller’s expression changed.
"Yes" Rein replied him.
The apple was boxed and given to Rein. Rein then looked at Twen who kept eating more apples,
"I have quite a lot of apple so you have to stick to me from now on okay?" Rein said.
"Hmm hmmm" the little deity boy nodded with a mouth full of apple.
"I first of all need to find somewhere to crash then I need to gather information regarding the invaders" Rein said.
Rein together with Twen and Pika found their way to a Inn, which wasn’t easy.
Rein went to attendant,
"Room for six"
The dwarven female attendant looked at him and the people around him.
"We only have room for two" she said.
’Fuck you, you probably said that because you think I’m here with my younger brothers...wait she said t‐’ Rein turned to look but could only find Twen who was yet eating another apple.
"He was gentle I thought it was okay to leave him, I had forgotten he is the craziest of them all" Reinard said.
"Customer?" The female attendant called.
"Yea sure, room for two"
She dropped two keys on the table, "thirteen silver coins per day"
Rein dropped two gold coins on the table and left with the boy, it left the attendant shocked.
Three men that sat at the thenseat adjacent them carefully observed Reinard and Twen with a smile. After Reinard had left they approach the attendant.
"Room number?" The tall brown wavy haired guy asked.
With their height and look it wasn’t hard to depict that they were humans.
"Four and five" she said.
They left the Inn.
She sighed, and looked at the two gold coin, "he must be pretty rich huh..." she said.
"What are you doing there slacking, get to work!" A brown bearded dwarf shouted which immediately jacked her up.
Rein after putting Twen to a forceful sleep by hitting the back of his neck then went out to.gwther information as planned and also look for the rest while at it.
He walked from person to person, vendor to vendor, shop to shop, asking the same question. But he got.the same response and even noticed the same behaviour.
"Why do they all seem sad if they are being attacked by the invaders" Rein said while resting his head on the wall behind him where he had taken a pause as evening befell.
"Because they too suspect that the royalties are lying" a familiar voice said beside him.
He looked to his side and saw Levon, who was way dirtier than the last time he saw him.
"Why are you looking like this?" Rein asked while covering his breathe as Levon stank.
"You, are you irritated by me right now, do you know how much I went through in order to get this information, look at my elegant hair, my clothes, I had the harpies made this clothes from the finest fabric they could get...do you think even I don’t hate myself right now?!" He said.
"I understand, its okay, what’s the information?" Rein asked.
"Well, I said it, I gave quite a hefty sum you entrusted me with to the seller of this information, he said the dwarves know something, that’s why they are all like that?"
"Which is?" Rein asked.
"He didn’t say" Levon said.
"So how much did you give him thiiiiiiiissssss information, Rein said stretching the this.
"All of it" Levon replied with remorse.
"All of what?" Rein asked
"All of the coins" He replied again.
Rein raised his hand in the air, Levon curled up, stepped back and shouted,
"He gave a bonus!! He gave a bonus!!"
Rein stopped midway, "what bonus?"
"He said every human that sleeps at the only Inn in this city gets missing overnight, and yet there are still some set of humans that are approved by the King to roam freely"
"The only Inn..."
By this Time night had completely arrived.
"Follow me!" Rein said and ran, Levon followed immediately.
Rein ran into the Inn and headed up the stairs straightway. He kicked the door open and just then a person flew out of the window with Twen on his shoulders. Rein followed and leapt from the doorway out of the window. The intruder landed on a cart full of hay, which began to move immediately, while landed on the floor, on his feet.
"Haha, he’s probably dead"
~gbbak~
A hand grabbed the bottom of the cart from beneath, Rein jumped unto the cart and sat down, with his legs crossed, pointing outwards.
The intruder was freaked out.
"How did you get under?"
"I’ll do the asking, first you sit" Rein said.
"Hey!! What’s going on there!!" The person riding the cart said.
"Shhuuu" Rein put his finger on his lips signaling to the intruder to keep quiet.
"He caught up to us!!" The intruder shouted.
~CRASHK!!~
Something fell on the cart from above,
"You seriously wasn’t expecting that he would be quiet were you?" Levon said.
"F**k I was" Rein replied as both of the them jumped off the crashing cart which was caused by Levon’s deliberate fall.
Levon looked at Twen who he had saved before the cart flew apart.
"Why is he asleep?" He asked.
"And how should I know" Reinard answered him and looked away. He then went to secure both intruders upon catching the cart driver the intruder had gotten up and began to run.
"Hey Levon!!" Rein shouted.
But Levon was too far and the intruder was about to make a turn, as he made the turn, out of that turn came a knee squashing his face and smashing his back on the wall.
"Who dares disturb my sleep!!" Pika shouted.
"Eh?" Reinard was surprised, "did this bastard intentionally run?’ He wondered.
Pika belatedly seeing Rein, immediately kowtowed.
’Right, it must have been intentional’ Rein confirmed.
