Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Even You, a Divine Doctor, Have No Solution?

Jiang Xinghai quickly said, "How could I possibly forget something so wonderful? I just wanted to hear you say it again."

"Aren’t you the eager one."

Shen Lingxue smiled, her lips pressed together. "Alright, listen closely. I’ll say it again."

"Hang on a second, let me light a cigarette first."

Jiang Xinghai nodded firmly as the car pulled to a steady stop in front of the Ye Family’s house.

"Lighting a cigarette?"

Shen Lingxue’s tone turned somewhat cold. "I wasn’t even thinking about the smoking, but now that you’ve brought it up, I’m changing my decision."

"Why?" Jiang Xinghai was utterly frustrated.

"I don’t want our future baby to be unhealthy," Shen Lingxue said, pressing her red lips together.

"Then I’ll quit. I’ll quit smoking," Jiang Xinghai said, the realization dawning on him.

"You think you can just quit that easily?" Shen Lingxue asked.

"It’s not that hard for me," Jiang Xinghai assured her.

"Alright, let me ask you this first: how long have you been a smoker?" Shen Lingxue asked, as if she’d thought of something.

"Well..."

A wistful look came over Jiang Xinghai’s face.

Truth be told, he had picked up the nasty habit back in middle school.

All in all, it had been over a decade.

"I’ve heard that for people who’ve smoked for over ten years, quitting cold turkey can actually be harmful to their health. Forget it, just quit gradually. Otherwise, it could backfire and make your cravings even worse," Shen Lingxue reasoned.

"So, what about tonight?" Jiang Xinghai asked, his expression miserable.

"And you, a Divine Doctor, don’t have a solution?" Shen Lingxue retorted.

"Of course I have a solution. I just want to quit for good."

Even as he spoke, Jiang Xinghai quietly lit a cigarette.

"And you’re still smoking it?" Shen Lingxue was speechless.

"I want to finish this last pack before I quit. Consider it a proper farewell," Jiang Xinghai said with a wry smile.

Shen Lingxue nodded lightly. "I respect your decision."

"But don’t worry, I have a way to expel the impurities from my body so it won’t affect the health of the next generation. So, about tonight..." Jiang Xinghai brought the conversation back around.

"I’ll be waiting for you tonight." Shen Lingxue hung up, her face flushed.

It had been almost a month since that night she and Jiang Xinghai had their "in-depth exchange" in her office.

Ever since then, it was as if a great treasure had been unlocked within her body.

Every night, she would think of Jiang Xinghai.

「Meanwhile.」

「In front of the Ye Family’s house.」

"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH..."

Whether from excitement or some other reason, a drag from his cigarette went down the wrong way, choking him.

’Even if Lingxue hadn’t said anything, I should really quit smoking.’

Though he said that, he didn’t toss the half-smoked cigarette. He walked up and pressed the Ye Family’s doorbell.

’Quitting smoking... easier said than done.’

Some people say you smoke to combat loneliness.

Others say you smoke to relieve stress.

And still others say...

’All of it is just excuses,’ Jiang Xinghai believed.

But he couldn’t deny that some people really did manage to quit.

Plenty of people quit for their health, especially after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Of course, there were also plenty of people who had smoked for decades and kept at it well into their eighties or nineties.

It all depended on one’s plans for the future.

"Divine Doctor Jiang, you’re here."

Just then, Ye Zhiqiu opened the door. "Please, come in."

"You’re looking well. Your uterine cold must be getting much better," Jiang Xinghai said, glancing at Ye Zhiqiu before quickly looking away.

He couldn’t help it.

Ye Zhiqiu was home alone, and her outfit was far too revealing.

A pair of impossibly short, black hot pants set off her luminous, jade-like legs, the sharp contrast delivering a powerful sensory jolt.

Further up, she wore a tight white tank top.

It did nothing to hide Ye Zhiqiu’s exquisite curves, putting them on full display.

"Well, come on in."

Ye Zhiqiu glanced sideways at Jiang Xinghai before stepping into the living room.

"Alright." Jiang Xinghai followed her inside.

"Have a seat anywhere. I’ll get you some tea," Ye Zhiqiu said, walking over to the tea set.

"Don’t go to any trouble. Let’s just get started," Jiang Xinghai said, sitting down on the sofa.

"Let’s settle in for a moment. We’ll start in five minutes." Ye Zhiqiu’s complexion was indeed much rosier now.

She had suffered from a chronic uterine cold for over two years, and now, under Jiang Xinghai’s treatment, she was on the verge of a full recovery.

Jiang Xinghai casually picked up the remote, planning to turn on the TV to dispel the subtle awkwardness.

"Wait, don’t touch that!"

Ye Zhiqiu put down her teacup and rushed over.

"What’s wrong?" Jiang Xinghai placed the remote back on the coffee table.

"It’s nothing. That remote is a special accessory for a piece of fitness equipment Sister Hong just bought. It’s not for the TV." Ye Zhiqiu’s head was bowed, her face flushed crimson, as she quickly snatched the remote and dashed upstairs.

’Sister Hong’s?’

Jiang Xinghai was left speechless.

’What a way to break the tension,’ he thought wryly.

’How could he not guess what kind of "high-tech" device Ye Zhiqiu was using to relieve her loneliness?’

’Absolutely scandalous!’

’I’m a man. How can I stand by and watch a woman struggle? It’s only right that I take the initiative to help her with such matters.’ The corner of Jiang Xinghai’s mouth curled up, and he stood, about to head upstairs.

But he stopped in his tracks, remembering that Shen Lingxue was waiting for him tonight—and that he was supposed to leave his seed.

He had to guarantee the quality of his... contribution. He couldn’t mess around tonight!
