Chapter 76: Danger (2)
One of the beasts was a huge snake that had coiled itself around a tree. Its head was barely three meters away from Clara.
The other beast was a crocodile-like Undead with human features—something unusual in these lands—but it appeared to be in command of the pair.
He carried a spear in his right hand, a shield in his left and a breastplate. He was ready for battle.
He was the closest to Clara; he had already raised his spear to thrust it into her, barely two meters away.
’Shit!’
Alarmed, Lucius unleashed the full power of his [Meteor Impact]. For the first time since facing the Obsidian Gorilla, the burst of mana within him reached its peak.
He crouched slightly before shooting forward.
His body looked like an arrow or a meteor. His speed was so great that he closed the distance in an instant, but it seemed too late.
Clara managed to dodge the undead’s first attack by stepping aside. She tried to activate her defensive magic, but the undead leaped at her with great force.
Her composure crumbled when the undead’s shield struck her in the stomach. She managed to look him in the face before falling completely backward.
The undead’s deep, empty eyes seemed to gaze at her with a frenzied, mad energy emanating from the depths of his being.
But there was something else...
Clara’s senses were on high alert when she felt a strange thread moving between those eyes.
She couldn’t see any more.
Her body fell backward.
Overcome by fear, she crawled to the side and managed to dodge the blow.
The spear remained stuck in the ground, costing the undead a few precious seconds.
Clara knew this was her chance. She immediately got down on all fours and tried to crawl toward Lucius.
Suddenly, however, she felt her body being enveloped by a slimy, hard mass. Her legs and chest were paralyzed by a strange paralyzing poison that seeped into her through her pores. And a huge snake’s head materialized right before her.
This snake was more than 10 meters long and 40 centimeters wide. But its head was nearly a meter across.
When it opened its mouth to bite her, Clara felt fear deep within her.
Although she couldn’t move because of the paralyzing poison, she trembled. She tried to call for help, but she couldn’t open her mouth.
She simply prayed in her heart and kept her magic connection to Lucius active, hoping he would arrive in time...
However, the snake got there first.
Soon she felt a sharp pain in her shoulder. The snake’s enormous fangs had sunk into her.
Just then...
BOOM!
A powerful explosion erupted behind her.
"It’s not deadly poison, it’s just paralyzing metal—don’t worry!" Lucius shouted fiercely, focusing on killing the undead.
If he hadn’t arrived in time, the undead would have driven the spear into Clara’s back. A spear imbued with the cursed energy of an undead creature was one of the most dangerous cursed weapons for a human paralyzed by snake venom.
That’s why this team had been carefully planned. It wasn’t a matter of chance.
Lucius was well aware of this.
That’s why his fist slammed into the undead’s shield, shattering it on the first impact.
The undead rolled backward, gouging furrows in the ground, but remained standing upright.
"You’re good," Lucius whispered as he came up beside him with another blow—this time to the head. "But could you be as good as that gorilla?"
His right arm carried all the power he’d once used to kill the gorilla, and it drove into the undead man’s head with a terrifying ease. The undead didn’t even have time to react before his head exploded and his body began swaying from side to side.
The system announcement came immediately, but he ignored it.
He immediately ran toward the snake, which seemed to be trying to bite Clara again.
"You want to give it an overdose of paralyzing venom? Ha, you can dream." Lucius ran along its body and leaped up to land right on the snake’s back, grabbing its head with his arm and squeezing it.
"Let’s see how tough your bones are," Lucius sneered, and began to squeeze...
The snake began to thrash. Clara fell to the ground, unable to move, fear etched into her white eyes.
Although the snake screeched, screamed, and tried to alert someone, it ended up suffocated by Lucius’s powerful arm.
Finally, its body fell, and the system announced the human’s victory.
Lucius immediately ran to Clara. She couldn’t speak or move. The venom that the snake had injected into her had spread throughout her body.
After a minute, the only thing she could move were her eyes.
Lucius didn’t waste any time. Between these two beasts, he built a fire and placed her next to it to give her some warmth, which would help dispel the venom.
"You’ll be okay," Lucius whispered. "That snake’s venom isn’t deadly, and it didn’t inject enough to cause an overdose. I’ll try to draw the venom out of you. When you feel your mana stirring, use it to create explosions inside your body. That will help you."
He laid Clara down on her back. Today she was wearing tight-fitting clothes to allow for better movement. Somehow, Lucius had overlooked it, but this woman’s body was extraordinary.
Not only did she have a pretty face, but also a figure sculpted by the gods.
However, Lucius had no problem with that. He remained professional.
"I’m going to take your clothes off. I need to make incisions all over your body to help draw out the poison," he said, and without waiting for her confirmation, he removed her spandex-style jumpsuit and shirt, though he used them to cover her private parts.
He then began making small cuts with a dagger.
On her legs, her arms, the upper part of her chest, her stomach, and her lower abdomen.
With each cut he made, he pressed down on the area. The poisonous liquid oozed out mixed with blood.
Slowly, Clara began to come to her senses, so she started to help with her mana...
Night fell, and a thick fog enveloped them. It seemed to come from nowhere and wrapped itself around the world like a curtain.
