Chapter 99: 99 Chapter Magic Potion Queen_1
As evening fell, after several messengers had hurried back and forth, the prison finally gathered all the materials requested by Meiruki.
Meiruki began to direct on-site, "I’m going to prepare the Magic Potion now. You all need to get ready here. Her clothes won’t do; they’re best taken off... If not, at least change into a skirt. When she transforms into a magical beast, her legs will fuse together into a snake’s tail, and there can be no obstructions between them, so the leg shackles need to be removed... Right, the underwear must come off as well."
"Looks like we had better step out for this," Aiden remarked as he rose from his seat, signaling with his eyes for the other male prison guards and riot police to leave with him. "Flandre, you oversee the scene."
"Understood."
As Aiden was about to leave, Meiruki reminded him from behind, "Warden, you better call for some more capable people to watch over the scene, this number isn’t safe enough."
"Hm? Will this operation cause any problems?" Aiden turned back to ask.
"Those who undergo magical beast transformation become very violent," Meiruki explained. "Given her current mental state, it’s likely she has absolutely no will to resist the domination of her wild nature. If anything unexpected happens later, I cannot take responsibility for it."
"I see," Aiden replied, turning back towards Flandre to ask, "Has Veronica arrived yet?"
Veronica had now undoubtedly become the powerhouse among the prison guards, often working the night shift; usually, she would have clocked in by now.
"Veronica worked the day shift today; she went back home already. Today is..." Flandre replied distractedly.
"Ah, it’s the full moon!" Aiden suddenly remembered.
Werewolves experience a surge in their wild nature upon seeing the full moon, easily losing control, which is why every country strictly mandates that registered werewolves must abide by a curfew on the night of every full moon.
Today was indeed the full moon, which meant these two days Veronica would only be working day shifts.
"We’ll have to change the person then," Aiden thought for a moment. "Let me know when things are ready here."
Over ten minutes later, the medical room was finally prepared.
"We’re ready, you can come in now," Meiruki called out to those outside.
Aiden pushed the door open and entered, followed by the witch Daili, who was brought over from the core area.
What appeared before them was Presia, dressed in a simple cotton skirt, forced to lie prone on an operating table, like a fish on a chopping block.
The reason it was forced was that her body and legs were firmly bound to the operating table with iron chains and straps.
"What are you... what are you going to do!?" Presia asked, her face full of unease, obviously wanting to break free.
But now she was so weak that she could hardly twist her body, not to mention struggle; the restraints were not the kind one could break free from using sheer human strength.
"Presia!?" Daili, who entered the medical room, was taken aback, her reaction noticeably more pronounced than Meiruki’s.
Presia turned her head to glance at Daili, her expression blank.
"You don’t recognize me?" Daili was somewhat shocked.
"You seem like... who are you?"
Presia responded weakly, appearing to have a vague sense of déjà vu about Daili but still unable to remember who she was.
"She’s lost her memory," Aiden explained from the side. "Complete amnesia, the kind where she couldn’t even remember her own name at first. Do you know her?"
"Let’s just say... we have some acquaintance," Daili recovered her composure quickly, "How did she end up like this?"
"It’s said she got hit by a Magic-Devouring Bullet fired by a Judge while casting a spell, leading to magical backlash that wiped her memory clean," Aiden explained briefly, "She’s now suspected of having ingested something indigestible. Meiruki is preparing a potion to temporarily transform her into a magical beast so she can expel the object on her own. What you need to do is restrain her when she becomes violent. Understand?"
"Transformed into a magical beast..." Daili’s gaze shifted to Meiruki, who was preparing the potion nearby, "Are you saying that is... ’Lamia’s Beasts’ Transforming Potion’?"
Lamia—Aiden subconsciously searched his memory for information upon hearing this name.
The witch Lamia, lauded as the "Queen of Magic Potions" by the Great Witch, and even the heretical inquisition didn’t have much intelligence on her. The name of this witch had been active over a hundred years ago, and many legends about her were still being used as material by contemporary writers.
However, many alleged magical potions said to be the work of Lamia still circulated in the black markets and underground auction houses around the world. Of course, few people believed that the potions were made by the Lamia from over a century ago. More people tended to believe in a Lamia still active today, simply using or inheriting the title of the Queen of Magic Potions from another witch.
"You seem quite knowledgeable," Meiruki smiled knowingly.
"Her beast transformation potion has basically never been seen outside, did you figure it out yourself?" Daili pressed.
"Nope, it was personally taught to me by ’her’," Meiruki laughed, "Although it’s an incomplete version, this potion is indeed a genuine formula from the hands of Lamia."
"You’re Lamia’s disciple?" Daili looked somewhat surprised.
"That’s right."
"But it seems like Lamia has never taken any disciples..." Daili eyed Meiruki dubiously.
"Wrong. She took many students in succession, but none were successful in their training. I was expelled from her mentorship halfway through, and the others, if not poisoned to death by her trials, were consumed by her," Meiruki corrected.
"Consumed?"
"In terms of imparting knowledge, she was actually a pretty good teacher, generously sharing anything with students she fancied. But her knowledge was just too dangerous, some went mad after learning, others tried to follow in her footsteps and lost control after transforming into beasts. To take responsibility, she ’dealt with’ these people one by one."
"I see, that does sound like her style," Daili nodded.
Aiden looked back and forth between them; the conversation between the two witches seemed to be a goldmine of information, but there didn’t seem to be enough time for idle chat right now.
He cleared his throat and interjected: "Let’s get started if you’re ready; the patient is still hanging in there like a dried fish."
"Okay," Meiruki bent over to administer the Magic Potion to Presia, "Relax, you’ll be fine very soon."
Not long after the injection, Presia began to react.
"Ugh... it hurts... I feel really sick," Presia moaned in pain, her forehead covered in cold sweat.
"Your body will soon undergo a complete transformation; it’s normal to feel pain," Meiruki spoke with professional candor, "and it’s going to hurt even more soon."
"Uh... please, no..."
The pain seemed to intensify, and Presia, restless and uncomfortable, twisted her head to look towards where Daili and Aiden were standing to the left, trying hard to reach out with her left hand which was restrained at the edge of the operating table.
"What are you trying to do?" Aiden asked, watching her.
"She probably wants someone to hold her hand," Meiruki explained, looking at Daili standing over there, "After all, she’s probably feeling very uncertain right now."
