Chapter 623: Chapter 622 Very Spirited_1

"Commander, this is the list of core prisoners admitted to prison in the past week." Veronica placed the report on Aiden’s desk.

"Thank you for your hard work." Aiden immediately picked up the report and glanced at it, saying, "Just like this morning, use the pretext of educational training for the new prisoners to gather them in the education room. Don’t arouse the prisoners’ suspicion."

"Understood." Veronica didn’t ask any further and obeyed the order, only adding, "Do we need to deploy riot control officers?"

After a brief consideration, Aiden replied, "No, there’s no need for extra manpower. ’The Law’ is enough to control the situation. If we are too guarded here, it might instead arouse suspicion."

"Got it." Veronica saluted and turned to carry out the order.

Aiden looked at the list of names in the report, his forehead resting wearily in his hand.

The Blood Moon Cult tended to recruit female followers, and the purpose was clear as day.

Disguising themselves as prisoners to probe the reality of prison, this had been done by Meiruki, by the Harvest Mother Cult, by the Smiling Scales, and even Princess of Gistas had used his prison as a sanctuary. Now, the Blood Moon Cult also planned to do the same.

Is my prison some kind of tourist attraction? he couldn’t help but think.

No, upon calm reflection, although the prison is an enforcement agency, it is ultimately a public facility. Unlike a military facility, as the highest manager, he couldn’t control every single detail. Although Aiden could take measures to decide the transfer of specific prisoners, he couldn’t just refuse prisoners sent to the prison; after all, the prison is there to house prisoners.

The nature of a prison meant that anyone disguised as a prisoner could easily enter, as there’s practically no barrier to committing a crime and ending up in prison. If an individual had enough audacity, or an organization member had enough loyalty, they could enter this prison with a minor crime and a forged identity. The control ability of countries in this world generally can’t handle the vast number of transient populations; faking an identity really isn’t that difficult.

This meant that anyone with malice towards him or the prison could infiltrate using this method.

Fortunately, his control over the prison was not what it used to be, and besides, there was the augment of the "God’s Word" power.

Half an hour later, Aiden arrived at the education room and surveyed the prisoners sitting in their seats.

"Sit up straight, don’t slouch," Aiden scolded them seriously, "You are all prisoners who have recently been incarcerated. Lately, we’ve had some new prisoners who don’t quite know their place, either provoking the guards or the seasoned inmates, with a few always trying to stir up trouble, only to end up getting themselves into a sorry state. To prevent you newcomers from getting maimed within days of arriving, we’ve added this extra education session."

Most of the prisoners were indifferent to Aiden’s admonition but didn’t dare show it, instead sitting upright, as this warden had an aura of authority that was difficult to defy.

"In this prison, there are a few rules that you must follow. First, in here, injuring and killing are absolutely prohibited, whether it be against the guards, other prisoners, or even yourselves, and random acts of revenge are also forbidden," Aiden declared seriously, making sure to check each prisoner’s expressions to ensure they all heard, "Next, when I ask you questions, you must answer truthfully, completely, and clearly, with no omissions. Did everyone get that?"

"Understood." As soon as the words were out, the prisoners responded in unison, their voices very loud.

Some prisoners showed looks of surprise; they had initially only planned to go through the motions of opening their mouths without making a sound, but their throats had made noises on their own.

"Very good, that’s the spirit," Aiden nodded with approval, "Now, before we begin the lesson, I have a question to confirm with all of you."

At this point, his voice suddenly deepened, "Among you, is there anyone who has been instructed by someone to come to this prison for espionage, assassination, or internal sabotage? If you’re aware of such motives, raise your hand now."

The prisoners looked at each other in confusion, bewildered by the question. Besides, even if there were someone here to sabotage the prison, would they simply confess once asked?

Yet, someone indeed raised their hand, answering loudly, "Me! It’s me!!"

All the prisoners’ eyes focused on this person, thinking they were a fool. Joking around when the guards asked questions in prison would only cause trouble for oneself.

But some noticed that the expression on this female prisoner’s face was odd. She was a vampire, and as she raised her hand to answer, her face contorted strangely, her eyes twitched, looking like she was struggling against an invisible force.

"Good, restrain her." Aiden snapped his fingers.

The mercury alloy golem that had been standing by in the corner immediately sprang into action. As it charged toward the female vampire, it transformed into manacles, firmly restraining her.

In her panic, the female vampire’s first thought was suicide—being a devoted follower of the Blood Moon Cult, she was granted the "Gift of Death" by the Reaper, and could obtain release from death whenever she wished.

However, this time, a command surfaced in her mind that she couldn’t defy: "No killing allowed."

"The rules I’ve recited to you cannot be defied," Aiden emphasized.

He had already activated the power of "Law," and the rules he had just read out to the prisoners were naturally enhanced by the power of authority.

The spies from the Blood Moon Cult hiding among the prisoners would not only confess without a fight but also couldn’t commit suicide for their faith.

Out of caution, he had already pulled this move with the newcomers in the standard area and, eventually, managed to find this damned spy among the prisoners in the core area.

Aiden exhaled heavily but felt no sense of achievement.

With the power of "Law" and the Wordless Code, once he knew of the likelihood of spies, extracting them from a specific area was as easy as picking objects from a bag. These spies coming into this prison were simply serving up intelligence on a silver platter—Aiden would interrogate her thoroughly, extracting every bit of information she knew.

Nevertheless, he doubted Mr. Red would leave such a significant risk unchecked; likely, the spy wouldn’t know anything too crucial.

But regardless, when it came to intelligence warfare, others might have an excuse to play this hand, Mr. Red’s move, however, could be considered a failing one. He must have risked engaging with the Reaper, probably realizing that Aiden had become a saint. Yet he still sent spies into the hands of a saint who could, by "Law", forcefully extract confessions. Aiden couldn’t help but wonder if the man lacked tactical thinking.

Was that guy’s mind really that simple?

Despite unearthing the spy, Aiden still felt a vague sense of unease.
