Chapter 612: Chapter 611: The Succubus Released from Prison_1
A week later, on a certain night at the Rose Iron Prison.
Veronica made her way to the core area of the cells, coming directly to cell number thirteen and knocked on the iron-barred door.
"Prisoner 3307, have you packed your things?" Veronica asked, staring into the cell.
"I don’t need these things anymore, I’ll leave them to this buddy here," said Fille, who had been waiting in the cell for a long time, as she got down from the bed and pointed at her cellmate, the pirate Annie.
"Who the hell would want your shameless crap?!" Annie yelled, eyes wide.
"Have you hidden contraband again?" Veronica narrowed her eyes.
"Hahaha, no way, don’t listen to her nonsense!" Fille quickly gathered her belongings, held them together, and stood at the door.
"Let’s go home," said Veronica expressionlessly as she opened the door, letting her walk ahead.
"Hey, Missy here is heading home, aren’t you sisters going to see me off?" Fille shouted in the corridor.
The corridor fell silent, as only a few cells nearby cast impatient glances at her.
"Damn, doesn’t anyone have a bit of sentiment?" Fille complained.
"Shut up already, you’re going to be back soon anyway, what’s the point in sending you off!" Camilla suddenly shouted out.
Her shout triggered a wave of laughter as everyone started to tease her:
"Hey trafficker, how many days are you out this time?"
"Remember to bring me back a pack of cigarettes when you return."
"Don’t worry, no matter how far you go, this place will always be your home!"
Now there finally seemed to be a bit of a send-off atmosphere, and the prison inside and out was filled with lively air.
"You all better not jinx me; next time I definitely won’t get caught!" Fille retorted disdainfully as she made her way to the exit.
"Won’t get caught? Shouldn’t you be more concerned with keeping yourself from committing crimes?" Veronica frowned.
"Just jokin’ around, big sis," Fille said with a flattering smile.
"Just change out of your prison clothes at the gate and complete the registration," Veronica instructed with a businesslike tone.
"I know, I know," Fille was quite familiar with the process.
"Don’t come back in," Veronica said.
"How come Lord Aiden didn’t come to see me off?"
"He’s still in the office dealing with paperwork, he’ll lecture you a bit at the gate later," Veronica replied.
"Hehe, coming all the way to see me off, Lord Aiden really does care about me, huh?" Fille said gleefully.
"..." Veronica remained silent.
Seeing no comeback from the other side, Fille turned around somewhat uneasily, "Hey, big sis, don’t give me the silent treatment. It makes me feel like you’re considering knocking me off from behind so you can have Lord Aiden all to yourself."
"Stop talking so much, your succubus friends are all waiting for you outside," Veronica said expressionlessly.
"I mean, come on, big sis, what’s with you lately, you’ve been so gloomy," Fille couldn’t hold back anymore, "and the atmosphere between you and Lord Aiden is weird too, did something happen between you two?"
"Don’t speculate," Veronica said coldly.
"I am a psychology expert, okay? Every time you saw Lord Aiden before, you could not help but smile up thirty degrees, looking so happy. But lately, the vibe between you two... seems to have become a lot more polite, especially you, you’re clearly not as passionate as before... Oh my damn, wait a minute, you didn’t get rejected when you confessed, did you!" Fille blurted out her conclusion on her own.
"I didn’t confess my feelings, nor would I do anything to make him feel uncomfortable," Veronica replied nonchalantly.
"What do you mean?"
"He’s not in the mood to think about that kind of thing right now," Veronica said, "He’s got himself tangled up in some issues, I can’t be of much help, and he doesn’t want me in danger..."
At this point, she suddenly stopped talking, realizing she shouldn’t say too much to this succubus, but she really wanted to confide in someone.
Ever since Aiden entrusted her with matters concerning his absence, she felt something oppressive at the bottom of her heart, restless and confusing, which made her somewhat lost.
Then, as if by some demon’s whim, she quietly added one more sentence: "Maybe, he never really considered me in that way."
"Did he tell you that?" Fille asked.
"Some things don’t have to be said out loud," Veronica replied, getting a little irritated with herself for talking too much.
"I told you that you should’ve used my method," Fille said loudly, "If I had your strength, I’d have pushed down the man I wanted a long time ago! People should release their desires; otherwise, they’re bound to run into trouble sooner or later."
"You’re the one who’s overindulged, and also, shut up." Veronica didn’t want to continue the conversation anymore.
"Sigh, you’re such a fool," Fille shook her head, then thought for a moment, "So is Lord Aiden."
The two then continued on in silence, and upon nearing the entrance, Fille was delighted to see Aiden actually standing there.
"Hehe, Lord Aiden!" Fille exclaimed excitedly, opening her arms wide, "Let’s have a big hug before I go!!"
"Go change your clothes and then roll out of this gate smoothly," Aiden pointed outside, "and don’t come back."
"You’ll miss me after I’m gone, won’t you?" Fille said with a giggle.
"I can’t wait to set off fireworks to celebrate, celebrate that the prison is one troublemaker less," Aiden smiled.
"Hey, you’re free tonight, right? It’s a memorable day of release, let’s go have a drink!" Fille suggested with a meaningful smile and then lowered her voice, "We could have a few rounds, then go find some fun."
After saying this, she glanced at Veronica, who would normally have glared at her by now, but this time Veronica was completely expressionless.
"This is your fifth time, what’s so special about this anniversary? I’ve got a night shift to work, so no thanks." Aiden refused without hesitation, "If this were your last time getting out, then it might be worth commemorating."
"How boring," Fille pouted.
"With the amount of money you’ve donated for a commutation, you have more money than you could ever spend," Aiden started to lecture seriously, "After you get out, don’t go back to doing the kind of work you’re not allowed to do. You could open another kind of store... it’s possible, isn’t it?"
"Okay, okay, I got it already." Fille covered her ears, "I’m going to change my clothes."
Aiden looked at Veronica, signaling her to take Fille to change.
Veronica nodded in understanding, then calmly said, "By the way, Chief, tomorrow..."
"Tomorrow night is the full moon, right, I know. They’ve already reported to me about the shift change," Aiden nodded.
"Right," Veronica nodded.
Fille turned back, sensing a somewhat different atmosphere from the past. She looked at Veronica, then at Aiden, and spoke up, "Lord Aiden."
"Hmm?" Aiden turned his gaze towards her.
"Idiot," Fille suddenly said.
"You’ve gotten bold," Aiden was slightly surprised; this was the first time Fille had spoken to him in such a manner.
"You’re too strict with rules, not knowing how to live as you please. You’ll regret it later," Fille turned her head back, waving her hand at him over her shoulder.
"You’re the one who’s lived too much to your whims," Aiden commented dryly.
