Chapter 55: Chapter 55 Magic Potion_1

Meanwhile, in the infirmary.

The prison doctor was busy in the laboratory, having not had a proper rest for the past couple of days. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Since the evening before last, until this afternoon, the prison’s core area had twice experienced mysterious mass outbreaks of illness among the inmates, all displaying a raised body temperature, yet no other symptoms could be found.

Subsequently, two underage inmates attempted to attack other prisoners but ended up getting injured themselves in the scuffle and had to be brought here for treatment.

Almost simultaneously, several inmates suspected of being on drugs were sent to the infirmary for examination, nearly driving her, who just happened to be on duty today, to her wits’ end.

Now, the beds outside were almost filled with inmates, and, naturally, a considerable number of guards and riot police were on watch inside the room, nearly crowding the entire infirmary to its limits.

Fortunately, the warden took quick action, immediately tracing the source of the drugs—regrettably, these had to be temporarily handed over to her for testing.

"Once this is over, I must apply for a raise." She made up her mind quietly in her heart.

While thinking this, she reached out and pulled a test tube from the warm water bath—half an hour ago, she had added some drugs to the testing reagent, and by now, the results should be ready.

The liquid in the test tube showed a red fluorescence.

"A magic power reaction?" The prison doctor was taken aback on the spot.

Drugs that show a magic power reaction usually originate from materials found on powerful magical creatures.

These substances make up what is known as magic potions.

Like black magic, magic potions are strictly controlled in this world. Few people dabble with magic potions, except for witches wanted by the Heresy Inquisition.

The prison doctor suddenly felt a chill run down her spine; these drugs were no ordinary contraband!

In terms of danger, compared to magic potions rich in magic power, those addictive ordinary drugs were practically negligible.

Rose Iron Prison had many powerful witches whose magic power was sealed by the prison’s barrier, preventing them from exercising their true strength.

If these witches got their hands on some magic potions that could temporarily enhance their magic power, they would have the ability to regain their strength temporarily within the prison and break containment.

If the drugs circulating in the prison were not just addictive substances but also included such magic potions...

Then the person who brought these drugs into the prison might have intentions far beyond merely becoming the prison’s drug lord.

If some high-risk red-alert criminals regained their strength inside the prison, they would have the capability to overturn this prison!

This matter had to be reported to the warden immediately!

Realizing this, the prison doctor quickly stood up, ready to prepare a report to be sent to the warden.

At that moment, a guard pushed open the door of the lab: "Doctor, an inmate has fallen and cracked her head open, come and take a look!"

"If it’s just a superficial wound, let her sit over there and wait for a while; I have something more important on my hands!" the prison doctor replied impatiently, waving her hand.

"What could be more important?" the guard blinked and asked.

The prison doctor was about to respond when suddenly someone in the infirmary hallway began to shout loudly: "Now is the time!"

Both the guard who had come in and the prison doctor were taken aback—it was one of the inmates who had just been brought in, and it was unclear why she was suddenly acting up.

"What are you doing? Do you want to die!?" The guard immediately turned and scolded the inmate.

However, in the next moment, the other inmates who heard her voice suddenly rose from their beds and collectively launched an attack on the guards present in the room, including inmates 3361 and 3362, the twin assassins sent in by Meiruki.

The demon claws attached to their forearms swelled in an instant, breaking the shackles imposed on them by the Heresy Inquisition.

Meiruki had already unbolted the seals on their shackles, allowing them to hide until now, just to create trouble for the guards at this moment.

They lunged out like carnivorous animals, striking at the two prison guards closest to them.

Prisoner 3361, the elder of the twins, was half a beat slower due to a rib broken by Avansa and was promptly intercepted by the guard’s quick reaction.

The guard reflexively sidestepped, barely avoiding the demon claw swung at him.

But the other guard wasn’t so lucky—he instinctively tried to dodge but was still scratched on the arm by the younger twin’s claw, and just as he prepared to draw his gun to retaliate, he found his entire arm’s muscles had stiffened, rendering them immovable.

He glanced at his right hand out of instinct and immediately cried out in astonishment—his right hand had turned into gray-black stone, and the petrification was creeping up toward his shoulder bit by bit.

The cursed claws grafted onto the twins’ wrists possessed a curse that could gradually petrify a living body’s flesh and blood.

Chaos erupted on the spot in the infirmary, with guards and prisoners clashing fiercely.

"Don’t come out, hurry and call for help!"

The guard who had brought the prisoners in slammed the lab door shut, locking the prison doctor inside the examination room, while he positioned himself firmly at the entrance.

He was well aware that the doctor, unarmed, would have only one fate if caught in the melee—certain death.

The prison doctor stood in the examination room, utterly bewildered, listening to the sounds of shouting and fighting outside.

Two seconds later, she jolted to her senses and reached to press the red button on the wall.

At once, alarms blared at the entrance to the infirmary, spreading quickly throughout the entire prison.

Witch Daili sat on the edge of the bed in Cell 12 of the core area, gently caressing the bottle in her hand.

Hours before, the vampire prince Ophelia and Prisoner 3340 found her in the library reading room and handed her this vial.

"Inside this, is a magic potion that can temporarily restore your magic power."

"The demon contract on you, I can help you lift it."

"We’re planning to act tonight, to kill the warden and leave this prison."

"If you want your freedom back, join us. Or you can continue wearing your collar and live as a dog in this prison."

...

The offer was quite enticing.

She could now feel that the demon contract, constantly threatening her life and imposed by Aiden, had vanished.

When Ophelia first proposed collaborating to leave the prison, she had not taken it seriously.

But now, it seemed that the terms offered were indeed genuine.

In that case, the magic potion was likely authentic as well.

With that, her choice was singular.

Meanwhile, in Cell 8, vampire prince Ophelia also sat on the bed, holding an identical vial, her ears pricked up in anticipation of the right moment.

Finally, the distant alarm from some corner of the prison reached this section.

The guard on duty in the core area’s control room also heard the alarm, his ears perking up in confusion.

In Cell 13, under Fille’s astonished gaze, Meiruki approached the door with a smile, gripping the bars and calling out to the room diagonally opposite: "It’s time, my prince. Time to go home."

Hearing this, the already prepared Ophelia immediately opened the vial in her hand and swallowed it in one gulp.
