Chapter 281: Chapter 281 The Succubus’s Banknote Ability_1

Annie stumbled, but thankfully, her balancing skills honed by years of drifting at sea came into play, and she managed to keep herself from dropping to her knees.

But then, the person who had tripped her from behind decided to lunge straightforwardly at her, firmly bumping into her.

"Oops, I slipped!" Camila cried out melodramatically and devoid of genuine emotion, while simultaneously knocking Annie to the ground.

The other inmates continued showering, acting as if nothing had happened.

While washing her hair, Fille moved to the doorway of the bathroom, and as she passed the two, a schadenfreude grin spread across her face.

Three minutes earlier, Fille had quietly approached Camila in the changing room. She offered to have her associates outside deposit a sum of money in exchange for Camila’s "services" in the bathroom, where she was to "give her new roommate a proper lesson."

The bathroom was one of the few places where guards didn’t continuously watch the inmates, so it was the perfect spot for ambushes.

Camila was naturally a combative and violent person, so when presented with the opportunity to harm someone and get paid for it, she was easily swayed. Despite the risk of solitary confinement afterward, the amount Fille offered was simply too much to resist.

Although there wasn’t much to spend on in prison, the vast majority of inmates still had to consider their livelihood after release. Having money to save was undeniably a good thing.

"Sorry for bumping into you... I didn’t mean to end up in this strange position." Camila said as she grabbed Annie’s arm, shouting, "Yikes, the floor’s so slippery; I can’t even get up!"

"Cut the crap! How does one accidentally fall into a cross hold?" Annie barked furiously from the severe pain as her arm was twisted, "Damn it, let go of me!!"

"Don’t misunderstand! Accidents like this are common in the bathroom." Camila didn’t loosen her grip; instead, she applied more force, dislocating Annie’s arm and pinning her throat to the floor with her foot.

Annie struggled fiercely but was utterly powerless against Camila’s inhuman strength, resembling a frog hopelessly gripped by a poisonous snake.

At that moment, Fille, who was standing at the doorway, swiftly ran over and gave Camila a look—this was a signal, indicating that the guard had heard the commotion and entered the changing room. While Camila engaged in the altercation, Fille had taken on the task of keeping watch.

It was only then that Camila let go of Annie.

Not far away, Presia silently observed the scene while scrubbing her body with a towel, realizing now why Daili had said that this person was pitiable.

Although the succubus lacked abilities, she clearly had connections—perhaps she was very wealthy, which is to say... she had financial power.

This new inmate had clearly chosen the wrong target to bully.

"What’s going on here?" the guard Isabella burst into the bathroom, demanding loudly, "Do you really have to stir up trouble while bathing?"

"My apologies, I’m so sorry." Camila got up from the floor, "I just accidentally stepped on some soap and slipped, and that’s how I bumped into someone!"

"Bullshit—are you still spouting nonsense? You were blatantly targeting me!!" Annie lay on the floor, cursing furiously, "Fuck, my arm!!"

Because one of her arms was dislocated, she could only prop herself up with her other hand and struggle to her feet.

Isabella looked at Camila.

"I really did just fall and bump into her," Camila said, spreading her hands, then turned to Annie, "No matter how angry you are, you can’t falsely accuse me, can you?"

Isabella, unable to make sense of the situation, turned to the nearest inmate, "What exactly happened?"

"I don’t know, I was just taking a shower, and by the time I saw anything, they were both on the ground," the inmate shook her head.

Isabella turned her gaze to the other inmates.

"I didn’t see anything, I was just washing my hair."

"There’s too much steam in the shower room..."

The inmates all claimed they saw nothing; they didn’t want to offend Carmila over such a trivial matter, nor did they want to spend time assisting with an interrogation, so they simply kept out of it entirely.

Realizing the situation was beyond her experience as a guard, Isabella ordered the inmates present, "Enough, hurry up and finish your showers and line up!"

"Hey, I’m hurt!" Annie yelled.

"Stop yelling! Put on your clothes and come out, I’ll have someone take you to the infirmary," Isabella snapped impatiently with a glance at her, then turned to Carmila, "And you, come out immediately!"

Minutes later, Annie and Carmila were escorted by the riot squad that had been called to the infirmary.

By the time Aiden was led to the infirmary by Isabella, Carmila was standing idly by, holding her arm, while the prison doctor was performing a manual reduction on Annie—the doctor had quite the experience with treating external injuries due to frequent violent conflicts in the core area.

"Well, look who it is, the Warden!" Carmila greeted Aiden with a hearty smile.

Aiden ignored her and turned his attention to the prison doctor.

"Dislocated shoulder," the doctor answered succinctly.

"Wow, accidentally bumping into someone caused a dislocated shoulder, huh?" Aiden looked at Carmila with a half-smile.

"Some people’s bodies are just a bit more fragile, I guess," Carmila spread her hands with a look of "helplessness."

"Rules can’t be ignored. When something happens, someone has to be responsible. You’ll be sleeping in solitary confinement today," Aiden gestured outside.

From what Isabella had told him, Aiden had pretty much figured it out. If Annie had provoked Fille, it was very likely that Fille would pay someone to settle the matter, and Carmila was the best enforcer for hire in the prison.

"Well, fine, if you don’t believe me I can only take my bad luck... It’s just a different place to sleep, after all," Carmila said indifferently, already prepared for this kind of consequence.

Aiden gave a nod to the riot guards nearby, and they immediately sprang into action, preparing to escort Carmila to solitary confinement.

When Carmila reached the door, Aiden stopped her and said in a low voice, "You should know when to stop when it comes to making money. Making trouble could extend your sentence, and then money won’t do you any good."

"It’s because you, Warden, rejected my request to buy a punching bag. I always have this urge with no outlet," Carmila replied in a hushed tone, a wicked smile on her face, "Of course, if you’re willing to help me vent in another way, that’s fine by me. I’m free all day."

"Go cool off in solitary confinement by yourself!" Aiden replied with a scoff, waving the riot squad to take her away.

At that moment, the doctor successfully repositioned Annie’s arm, and Annie let out a pained grunt, her face twisted for a moment.

Aiden walked over to Annie, looking down at her from above, and struck up a conversation, "Only a few hours in and you’re already in the infirmary? Looks like you’re not fitting in too well here."
