Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Are You Planning to Use This to Threaten Me?_1

Heretic Inquisition.

"It has been confirmed, indeed, it’s a B-level fugitive issued by Gistas according to ’The Covenant’, Nos Feratu." Senior Judge Rebecca personally replied to Aiden, "We have already taken him to the interrogation room."

"That’s good," Aiden nodded.

"Was it you who caught him?" Rebecca asked.

"No, strictly speaking, it was this gentleman who caught him, and he’s the one who found the suspect, I was just following as a witness." Aiden spread his hands towards Kael standing behind him.

"Delighted to meet you, beautiful miss, my name is..." Kael placed his hat over his chest, a schmoozing smile spreading across his face.

"Mr. Kael Callado, right? Previously registered in our facility as a non-human personnel." Rebecca cut in before he could finish.

Kael’s face showed a moment of surprise, then quickly recovered with a nod and a smile, "Yes, that’s me. Aye, I never expected when I first arrived here that there would be fugitives lurking around. How could a person as righteous as me tolerate such things? These lawless vampires are detestable indeed, causing trouble for law-abiding bloodlines like ours, so uneducated and ill-mannered!"

Kael said, clenching his fist in feigned anger, appearing like a fervently just and upright model youth.

"Your sister is also squatting in a cell," Aiden reminded him from the side.

According to ’The Covenant’, non-human personnel must additionally report and register with the local Heretic Inquisition when they leave their own country.

From Kael’s reaction, it seemed he had not seen Rebecca when he registered at the facility.

Yet, Rebecca recognized Kael instantly, indicating that after his information was registered, it was immediately distributed to most of the judges.

Of course, not all non-human personnel would receive such special attention, but as a bloodline of prince level, Kael’s strength could easily qualify for an S-level warrant; even if he had no criminal record, he would still receive intense scrutiny from the Heretic Inquisition.

In other words, should any vampire-related cases arise, he would easily become a suspect.

Kael too realized this and promptly started flaunting his law-abiding good citizen persona.

"Alright, thank you very much for your support and cooperation with our work. Could we possibly take a little more of your time for some questioning?" Rebecca formally gestured for Kael to follow other junior judges further down the corridor, "The reward will be given to you after the questioning."

"Um..." Kael hesitated for a moment, looking in that direction, "Isn’t that the way the fugitive was just taken? That’s the interrogation room, isn’t it?"

"It’s just closer in proximity, no need to worry," Rebecca smiled.

"Then... what about the warden?" Kael pointed to Aiden.

"I’ll personally inquire about the situation with him," Rebecca responded.

"Then the Judge could just ask me a few questions directly, no need for such trouble." Kael chuckled dryly, draping an arm over Aiden’s shoulder, "We are good friends, after all!"

Rebecca looked at Aiden.

"We’re not friends," Aiden stated expressionlessly as he lowered Kael’s hand, then glanced at him, "Cooperate with the investigation. You haven’t done anything wrong, have you?"

Clearly, Kael wasn’t too fond of being questioned alone by the Heretic Inquisition, but Aiden’s goal was precisely to let the Heretic Inquisition thoroughly verify whether Kael had any suspicious aspects.

"Don’t be so formal, Warden—We’ve frequented the red-light district together," Kael insisted, moving closer. "That’s the strongest bond between men!"

"Cut the nonsense, I only went with you because you said there was a fugitive there," Aiden frowned.

"Don’t put it that way, no worries, what happened at that nightclub, I’ll definitely forget once I’ve seen it!" Kael declared with a sweeping gesture and his tone grew suggestive.

Rebecca suddenly looked at Aiden with surprise.

Aiden also glanced at Kael with surprise, "Are you planning to use this to threaten me?"

It appeared that Kael hadn’t heard the previous explanation, but regardless, going to the nightclub for an investigation wasn’t something he’d done with a guilty conscience.

Moreover, even if he had truly gone there... it didn’t seem like a big deal, as he wasn’t involved with anyone.

"Uh..." Kael didn’t expect the other man to be so resolute and could only awkwardly shift away a bit, "Okay, okay, then I’ll still cooperate with the investigation a little. After all, it’s a necessary procedure, I understand, I’m a law-abiding citizen."

After watching Kael being taken away, Aiden turned to see Rebecca gazing at him with a furrowed brow, seemingly on the verge of speaking.

"What is it?" Aiden asked casually.

"Senior, just now..." Rebecca, clearly concerned, inquired, "What was that about the nightclub the man mentioned?"

"When I was avenging Veronica, I found out the real culprit had gone to that nightclub, so I just went to investigate. We passed by it today and the reception recognized me; that vampire probably developed some strange misunderstanding," Aiden explained calmly.

"I see..." Rebecca let out a sigh of relief and then shifted the topic to the recent case, "Senior, you specifically went there with the prince earlier to catch a blood clan fugitive, was it because of that case?"

"What case?" Aiden was surprised.

"You... haven’t heard?" Seeing his puzzled look, Rebecca also paused for a moment.

Aiden shook his head and recounted Kael’s initial reason for seeking him out, as well as the moment he learned of Aiden’s former role as Judge, the point at which Kael deliberately informed him about the Blood Moon Cult.

After listening, Rebecca’s brow furrowed too, "Does that mean the B-level fugitive we just caught is also a member of the Blood Moon Cult?"

"Ah, this Blood Moon Cult isn’t likely the same group as the one we took down five years ago..."

Just as Aiden was about to clarify, Rebecca nodded, "We are aware."

"You already know?" Aiden was a bit surprised.

Rebecca’s "also" didn’t refer to the group from five years ago...

"Because in the past few days, we’ve captured two Viscounts of the blood clan, one of whom is also a B-level fugitive, and both claimed to be members of the Blood Moon Cult," Rebecca explained.

Aiden thought for a moment, then suddenly realized something, "Is this the case you just mentioned?"

"It’s not that simple. A week ago, the Mounted Police received a murder and body-dumping case, and then at the scene, they found signs that the corpse might have been harvested for blood by the blood clan, so the case was transferred to us. Moreover, this week the police department received two missing persons cases, it’s still uncertain if there is a connection, but the possibility is high," Rebecca said gravely, "Then among these three cases, two of the victims... were working in the fireworks lane."
