Chapter 148: Chapter 148 Two Possibilities_1
Succubus Phyllis was now utterly confused.
What was happening?
She had only noticed the moonlight piercing through the iron bars, casting shadows that teased her mind, and had decided to enjoy herself thoroughly before sleeping, but when she inadvertently looked up, she saw three figures mysteriously appear in the room for two opposite her.
At first, she thought she was seeing things, but when Presia struck a match to light her cigarette, Phyllis clearly saw the glow of three cigarette ends on the other side.
Qiqimora followed Presia’s gaze and noticed Phyllis, so she stood up, walked to the bars, and flashed her a smile.
Phyllis blinked, not understanding why.
A woman she didn’t recognize, she couldn’t fathom how she had entered the cell.
But one thing Phyllis was certain of, was that this mysterious individual who had managed to infiltrate the fortress-like Rose Iron Prison was absolutely someone she couldn’t afford to provoke.
Then, Qiqimora gestured for her to keep silent and... drew her thumb across her neck.
Don’t make a sound, or I’ll kill you—Phyllis, interpreting the gesture, instantly shivered in terror and could only nod her head vigorously with a pale face.
"Very good," Qiqimora mouthed.
Trembling, Phyllis turned back around and crawled into her covers, pretending as though nothing had happened.
Reporting the intruder could indeed result in a reduced sentence, but the retaliation she would face afterwards was more than she could bear.
Lord Aiden, it’s not that Phyllis doesn’t want to help you, but the enemy is too fearsome, she’s just a weak, helpless succubus who can only whimper...
Qiqimora turned back around, and Presia remarked, "She saw us, is it really okay to leave her be?"
"Not a problem, I’ll release a Geas before I leave. Once I’m gone, she’ll forget all about me," Qiqimora said, unconcerned.
"You probably didn’t come here just to visit us, did you?" Presia got straight to the point, "Vila has already come to this city; you must be here to find her."
"Have you made contact with her?" Daili asked softly.
"I just met with her; she asked me to check out the layout of this prison because she wants to kill Aiden Galahad. Sounds like you already know the situation," Qiqimora said leisurely, smoking her cigarette.
Daili hesitated for a moment before saying, "Maybe you should still try to persuade her to back off."
Presia added, "Although I think with Vila’s methods, the heretical Judge’s Bureau here probably won’t catch her, but I doubt she can kill Aiden Galahad."
"Oh? That’s not necessarily the case," Qiqimora said with a smile, "Vila has already reached the point of desperation to use the gift Abigail gave her, even that high-ranking Judge wouldn’t stand a chance."
"Abigail’s gift?" Daili said with a puzzled face. She had been imprisoned too early to know about it.
But Presia immediately understood, "She intends to use a mercury amalgam golem? That’s indeed very much like her... but alas, even with that, she won’t be able to win."
"Hmm? That’s not necessarily the case. I have already roughly explored this prison. Although there is a barrier here that seals magic power, not every corner is covered. The prison warden probably won’t always stay in absolutely safe places. As long as there’s an opportunity, Vila still has a good chance of winning."
This point was also clear to Daili and Presia. To control operational costs, the seal barrier that was continuously running in the Rose Iron Prison only covered all the areas where the core zone prisoners were active. The other wards housed common prisoners who knew nothing about dark magic and did not possess any extraordinary traits; they didn’t require such a barrier.
As the prison warden, Aiden, although he always focused most of his attention on the core zone that needed special monitoring, and even had his own office within the range covered by the barrier, his activities were not limited to the core zone alone.
Vila’s golem could not enter the areas where magic power was sealed, but there was no problem sneaking it into the prison.
Still, Presia shook her head with unusual certainty, "No, even so, she can’t win."
"You have this much confidence in this man? Have you already had an affair with him?" Qiqimora teased.
"I’m serious," Presia said with a grave expression, "Aiden Galahad is a master of divine words."
Upon hearing this, Qiqimora’s face immediately turned serious, "Really?"
"It was by his divine words that I was defeated—the very ’order’ sentence that Abigail used to use frequently."
"In the letter Vila sent me notifying, it was mentioned that the one who impersonated you to infiltrate our gathering was him. I remember that Abigail used that sentence on him..." Qiqimora said in recollection, "Could it be that it was at that moment... "
"It was at that moment," Daili confirmed, "He came to me for help at that time, it was I who helped him adapt to the divine words using expression magic. As a result, the divine words actually took effect."
"If the divine words were taught to him by Abigail, where did his divinity come from?" Qiqimora raised a question, "And if he came to you for help, it implies that he did not know how to utter the divine words. How then did he manage to defeat Presia alone with them?"
"I’m not quite sure about the divinity, but as for the technique... he actually made use of Lamia’s developed ’flesh modification’ demon covenant," Daili explained to Qiqimora. "In this prison, there’s a prisoner who was Lamia’s former apprentice."
"Ah, I think I remember that. Wasn’t it called... Meiruki servant? The one who was expelled from the witches’ gathering for misusing Lamia’s name," Qiqimora nodded.
"Wait a minute, I think something’s not right," Presia objected at this point, "When he was interrogating me, he deduced in just a few words which divine word my research was based upon, something not even Daili knew. This man, his grasp of divine words is more than just a little... The divine words he uses probably aren’t as simple as having just recently learned them from Abigail."
After hearing the information from both, Qiqimora fell into deep thought. After a long while, she opened her mouth to make her own conjecture.
"Two possibilities. First, he might have already mastered the divine words and the divinity a long time ago. Only after hearing Abigail utter the divine words did he discover our possession of the divine words, so he played along with Daili, thereby drawing out more information to confirm the extent of the witches’ assembly’s grasp."
Qiqimora raised one finger, then immediately raised a second.
"The second possibility is that there’s an entity behind him with an unusual understanding of divine words and divinity, and it was this entity that gave him divinity. After initially obtaining information from Daili, he got more detailed information from that entity."
