Chapter 236: Chapter 236: An Island for You—Consider It a Gift...

"Shanks..."

The pirates of the Red Hair Pirates stared at Shanks, who had been knocked down by Jovian, and shock appeared on all their faces. Their invincible Captain Shanks had actually lost just like that? It was unbelievable.

"Fight to the end! Avenge Captain Shanks!"

Tears welled in the pirates’ eyes as they raised their weapons, ready to fight Jovian to the death.

"Honestly, do you still not understand the difference in strength? Surrendering is your best option. Being locked up in lightless Impel Down is still better than getting killed by me right here, isn’t it, small fries?"

Jovian looked a little helpless. After letting out a sigh, killing intent flared in his eyes.

"In that case, don’t blame me for being ruthless."

As Jovian spoke, his body vanished from the pirates’ sight.

"What?! Did he run?"

The pirates widened their eyes, searching for Jovian’s figure.

"Is he afraid of our revenge? Did he run away?"

One overconfident pirate shouted furiously.

"Bastard! If I ever see him again, I’ll cripple him and avenge our Red-Haired captain!"

An even more overconfident pirate said something that sounded like pure fantasy.

"Ran away? No, he wouldn’t. That guy must be planning something. But what exactly?" Benn Beckman thought over what Jovian might do. To be honest, he had a hard time understanding Jovian’s motives. That man’s actions were completely unpredictable.

"Hah..."

Sakazuki slowly exhaled a breath of stale air and looked at the unyielding pirates before him with irritation. He had no idea what these damn sea scum were relying on to keep fighting top-tier forces like them. Did they not understand? Did they not know the gap in strength? As for the pirates saying Jovian had run away, Sakazuki did not take that seriously at all. A man like that would never flee, especially not when he currently held an overwhelming advantage.

"No way..."

Borsalino seemed to think of something, and his brow furrowed.

"Ah, man. I have a feeling that kid Jovian is about to do something very troublesome."

Kuzan’s instincts were screaming warning signs at him. As someone who hated trouble, he felt trouble chasing straight after him.

Suddenly, the world began to darken, as though something had mercilessly blocked out the sun in the sky.

"What the hell is that above us?!"

When the pirates raised their heads in panic, they saw an enormous shadow slowly drifting toward everyone from the sky.

"Fuffuffuffu..."

"This is outrageous! He actually went and made a move this big? Even messing around should have limits, shouldn’t it? This is even more ridiculous than Kaido! Hey!"

Doflamingo looked up at the shadow overhead and excitedly covered his face. At that moment, he was as excited as a child. He had to admit, he loved seeing scenes of world-ending destruction like this. Destroying all order was his ideal.

"That is..."

At that moment, those pirates who had committed every evil under the sun finally saw the huge shadow in the sky clearly. Their faces filled with pure terror. Some of the weaker-minded pirates even dropped their weapons and fell to their knees with a thud.

"That’s an unbeatable monster!"

One pirate after another knelt in Marineford’s inner bay and repeatedly kowtowed toward the sky, as if worshiping their god.

"Oh, how scary."

"Honestly, where did this monster even come from?"

Borsalino also raised his head. Looking at that massive figure blotting out the sky, he curled his lips and shook his head helplessly.

"Ah, man, this doesn’t look like a joke. Is that guy planning to drop that thing from the sky? Seriously, are young people these days all this wild? That’s even more outrageous than the Golden Lion..."

Kuzan scratched his cheek, looking somewhat helpless.

"Of course he has to go that far! If he doesn’t terrify those pieces of trash, they’ll never learn!"

Sakazuki looked up at the giant shadow in the sky and seemed rather satisfied.

"Damn it..."

"Is now the time for you three to be casually commenting on this?"

"You three might be fine, but what about everyone else?"

Fleet Admiral Sengoku looked at the three current Marine Admirals acting as though none of this had anything to do with them, and anger made his teeth itch. If that thing in the sky fell, top-tier fighters like them would be fine, and the Vice Admirals and Rear Admirals could probably protect themselves, but the outstanding Marine soldiers would likely die here.

"Bwahahaha!"

"Jovian really is outrageous!"

Perhaps because his grandsons had all escaped, Garp exhaled heavily, looked at the massive spectacle Jovian had created, and laughed loudly. In any case, his Armament Haki was amazing, so he was not afraid of this thing at all.

"Damn you, Garp, stop laughing! Think of something!"

Sengoku roared furiously at the laughing Garp.

"Think of something?"

Hearing that, Garp picked his nose.

"Ah! Listen up, brats! Everyone use the invincible Iron Body together and defend against the attack from the sky!"

Garp put his brilliant mind to work and came up with a perfect idea.

"Are you insane, Garp?"

After hearing Garp’s words, Sengoku felt a surge of fury trapped in his chest. Did this bastard Garp think everyone in the world had an Iron Body as tough as his?

"There’s no choice! Everyone, run! Run into the buildings inside the bay!"

Sengoku knew Garp was unreliable, so he ordered the Marines under him to run toward the large building in Marine Headquarters.

"Yeah!"

Once Sengoku gave the order, the Marines could no longer care about the pirates. One by one, they sprinted toward Marineford’s headquarters building as fast as they could, because everything in the inner bay was about to say goodbye. After all, someone had directly brought over an island from the sky.

In the air, Jovian held a small uninhabited island roughly a kilometer across with one hand and coldly looked down at the pirates kowtowing toward him.

"Too late, trash. I’ll give you this island as a greeting gift."

Jovian announced the pirates’ fate and slowly dropped the island beside them.

Boom!

With a thunderous roar, the island instantly crashed into Marineford’s inner bay.

The moment the island collided with the bay, everything in the inner bay was reduced to powder.

Stone ground and gun emplacements shattered in an instant.

One pirate after another, too slow to dodge, was directly flattened into tomato patties. Bright red ketchup splashed into the sea, attracting all kinds of fish from the water.

"Ah..."

"Is this the end of the world?"

At that moment, the Marines hiding inside Marineford’s office building stared at the collapsing inner bay with wide eyes. It was the first time they had ever seen such an outrageous sight.

It was terrifying.

Boom!

As the island crushed the entire inner bay and sank into the sea, towering waves instantly rose with a roar.

"What..."

The Marine soldiers widened their eyes at the raging waves.

"We’re done for! We’re going to die!"

The Marine soldiers stared with round eyes at the waves that seemed ready to swallow all of Marineford.

"Ah, man..."

"Honestly, everyone, don’t be afraid."

"It’s nothing major."

"Ice Age!"

Marine Admiral Aokiji, Kuzan, who had been hiding nearby and watching the show, yawned and reached his hand toward the enormous wave several hundred meters high.

Boom!

In just a single breath, the enormous wave was frozen solid by Kuzan.

The terrifying cold air stimulated every cell in everyone across Marineford.

"We’re saved..."

The Marine soldiers looked at the block of ice right in front of them, snot running from their noses as they slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

Crack. Crack, crack...

However, before the Marines could truly relax, the several-hundred-meter-tall iceberg became covered in cracks.

"Hey, hey, hey! This is bad!"

The Marine soldiers’ expressions changed as they looked at the cracked iceberg.

"Huh? Looks like it’s because of the impact..."

Kuzan looked at the iceberg about to shatter and scratched the back of his head.

"Nobody asked you to explain! Hurry up and help!"

The Marine soldiers all snapped back at the explaining Kuzan. Did they need an explanation? What they needed was help. Otherwise, how could people say Kuzan didn’t understand people’s hearts?

Boom!

Before the Marine soldiers could sigh in relief, the iceberg was completely shattered by the combined shouts of tens of thousands of Marine soldiers.

When an avalanche comes, not a single snowflake is innocent.

"We’re dead! This is even worse!"

Looking at the huge chunks of ice, the Marine soldiers had already accepted life and death.

"Great Eruption!"

Just as the Marine soldiers began to despair, the man standing before them all was Marine Admiral Akainu, Sakazuki, whose forehead was still bleeding nonstop.

Boom, boom, boom!

Meteor-like projectiles resembling a volcanic eruption shot from Sakazuki’s fist, evaporating the shattered iceberg piece by piece into steam.

Yes, Sakazuki’s attack was that violent, powerful enough to completely evaporate subzero ice. His strength was terrifying.

Even so, some small, inconspicuous ice fragments still broke through Sakazuki’s layer of magma.

Just as those chunks of ice were about to approach Marineford’s tall main building, a bright golden light flashed and instantly blasted them into dust.

"Sakazuki, let me give you a hand! Yasakani Sacred Jewel!"

Kizaru, Borsalino, one of the three Marine Admirals, continuously released energy blasts. One yellow beam after another flashed, smashing every shattered ice chunk to pieces. This time, Kizaru’s Yasakani Sacred Jewel was not missing everything on purpose.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

As golden light and magma crisscrossed and intertwined, the shattered iceberg finally disappeared without a trace.

The drastic change in the inner bay finally came to an end.

Everything seemed to return to calm.

"No way. The inner bay is gone?"

The Marines leaned inside the building and looked outside, only to see that the place that should have been the inner bay had already turned into open ocean. The battlefield where they had fought the enemy, the places where blood had flowed, and the walls that had blocked the enemy had all vanished completely.

"..."

Sengoku, the current Fleet Admiral of the Marines, stared silently at the sight of nearly half of Marineford disappearing before his eyes.

"Everyone! The Whitebeard Pirates and the Red Hair Pirates have all been defeated by us!"

"Everyone! There is no doubt that today is a great victory for the Marines. We have defeated two of the Four Emperors in succession. The New World can no longer stop our advance. A world without pirates is close at hand!"

Sengoku felt all kinds of emotions twisting inside him. He stared at everything before him, fell silent for a moment, and then loudly announced the Marines’ victory.

"Yeah!"

More than ten thousand Marines had died in this battle. After all, their enemy had been Whitebeard, the strongest of the Four Emperors, so those casualties had been inevitable. But losses of nearly one-tenth could not stop the Marines from cheering. They were the victors. They had won.

"Fuffuffuffu..."

"This is troublesome. Two of the Four Emperors have been defeated at once. The power structure of the New World has been completely changed. The Marines no longer need the Seven Warlords of the Sea. I need to make plans early."

Doflamingo crouched on the roof of Marine Headquarters, looked out at the open ocean before him, and chuckled.

"Looks like I’ll have to form an even deeper alliance with Kaido and Big Mom. Pirates can only huddle together for warmth now. One small misstep, and it’ll be total annihilation."

"Fuffuffuffu..."

Doflamingo was not the least bit panicked by the situation. If anything, he wanted to laugh.

"Will the final winner be the pirates? Or the Marines?"

"Fuffuffuffu..."

"The final winner won’t be the pirates or the Marines. It will be the World Government, the ones standing behind the pirates and Marines, the ones who have ruled the world for eight hundred years. They are the true winners of this world."

"When the pirates are completely wiped out, where will the Marines, who possess absolute power, go from there? Fuffuffuffu... How exciting."

Doflamingo gently stroked his cheek and laughed again and again. He was a businessman, a middleman who wandered between the Marines and pirates, and as a Warlord standing right in the middle of the balance of everything, he could happen to see exactly where all the problems lay.

"Let me see what the final ending will look like."

"Jovian, you variable who shattered everything, make sure you keep causing trouble. Bring this stagnant world fully to life. Fuffuffuffu..."

Laughing loudly, Doflamingo pulled himself along the clouds above his head and vanished into the sky.

Meanwhile...

"The division commanders of the Whitebeard Pirates, Whitebeard himself, one of the Four Emperors, Red-Haired Shanks, and the officers of the Red Hair Pirates. According to our preliminary calculations, we should pay Jovian a total of twenty-one billion, eight hundred thirty-seven million, five hundred twenty-five thousand, four hundred thirty Berries!"

Sengoku sat in his office, listening to his subordinate’s report, and felt an overwhelming headache.

"That much money?"

"Forget it. Ask the World Government for it."

After thinking for half a second, Sengoku gave up thinking altogether. He had already decided to resign, so why would he keep worrying over something like this?

Let the people of the World Government worry about everything themselves. And the next Fleet Admiral too. Two Emperors of the Sea were already dead, so there was basically nothing left to do anyway. It was just right to give the new Fleet Admiral something to keep busy with.
