Chapter 935: Mirror Mage.

"What?"

Ezra inquired, as a hint of confusion appeared on his face. He had long been wondering why Daniel had called him here... and it was for an assassination mission?

Furthermore, it wasn’t anyone who was a threat to Titan, like the top executives of Twilight or Behemoth.

If he was being honest, Ezra was certain Daniel had called him here to finally finish the job with Behemoth. Ezra had believed today he would be forced to deal with his guild, his family, but it wasn’t anything of the sort.

’Why him?’

Why Alan Peccator? What exactly did Daniel want? Was he feeling threatened by Alan Peccator, who had emerged as an SSS-rank? But even then, it was known that Alan Peccator didn’t have any interest in succeeding Twilight, or anything of the sort that would make Titan feel threatened?

Was it because of his power? It could be, Alan Peccator would be a major threat if Richard Thompson ever wanted to fight Titan... Daniel wasn’t a combat based awakened as everyone thought he was.

While capable, he depended on his unique skill quite a lot. Ezra, someone who could also be considered to be in the same category, knew it well. However, he was still confused as to why he wanted the boy dead.

"Why not? Haha! Aren’t you afraid in the slightest, my dear genius? He’s surpassed you, you know."

Ezra’s eyes narrowed, but he didn’t answer. Something nobody knew was that Ezra was also at the rank of SSS, having ascended only a few days before the conference. Publicly, he was still SS-rank.

Nobody knew, not even his Grandfather, and this fox of a man in front of him. He was unaware of it, despite possessing [Midas], Ezra found it easy to fool the skill with [Speculum Infinitum], although quite risky.

However, he was still helpless against the reason why he was currently... imprisoned, in a sense. He was still desperately trying to change that.

"Back in the conference, I took a little peek at frosty boy... and damn! I saw a lot of things... too many things... So many, that I begin to crave him now."

"..."

Ezra ignored the strange mark, and tried even harder to ignore the weird... actions Daniel took, hugging himself. Daniel chuckled, as he downed a bottle of wine.

"Care to guess at his value?"

Daniel asked, throwing the bottle away. It turned into gold mid-air, and when it fell, it melted into the floor, which was also made of gold. Ezra shrugged his shoulders, and threw a random guess.

"A few billion?"

"Trillions, perhaps even more, that’s more money than every man on Earth has ever accumulated together. Midas was salivating over Alan Peccator."

Ezra silently listened, while the number mentioned was big, he hardly gave a damn. He wasn’t a man that was obsessed with money like Daniel Park or his Grandfather, Logan Fornum. He had never really cared about money.

But then again, he never had a need to actually work a lot for stupendous amounts of cash. Being the Heir of Behemoth had certain perks, but many, many obligations. Ezra didn’t really understand the value of money, but in the end.

He was certain it wasn’t worth what Daniel envisioned it to be.

"They say the Heart of a Dragon is the greatest treasure in the universe, the Heart of a Frost Dragon?

Priceless. Nobody in the entire Universe has it, save for the ice dragons, haha! A few existences have Dragon Hearts... but never the heart of an ice Dragon."

Daniel picked up a coin, and began to play with it. His eyes began to glow. He was using an observational skill, one that wasn’t related to Midas.

"They are a special race, not a single one of them ever leaves their planet... Uh, what was it called? Ah, Lanekia, yes... Lanekia. Apparently, their Supreme Being, the Goddess of Beauty, is very observant of them. She treats them all like her children.

The beauty of a Frost Dragon is unparalleled.. they are often called the Pride of the House of Death... won’t it be a waste to not use this opportunity? We have one right here, what’s more, we have their Prince.

The son of the Goddess of Beauty herself... What an opportunity, am I right? And..."

Daniel chuckled, revealing an important piece of information.

"What’s more, she can’t do anything even if we do kill him..."

’... The rules set by the House of War...’

Ezra thought to himself, and questioned Daniel.

"Then why not do it yourself?"

Daniel was still unaware Ezra had ascended to the rank of SSS, because of that, Ezra wondered why on Earth he would ever send him to kill Alan Peccator? Wasn’t it better if he got the job done himself?

Why pit an SS-rank against an SSS-rank? Especially one that had all sorts of abilities propelling him even above? Why?

To protect his public image? No, Daniel Park didn’t care much for it.

To avoid Harrison’s wrath? It could be.

But Ezra chose to believe something else.

’He can’t do it himself...’

The reason why Ezra thought this was because he was asked to kill Alan Peccator, not capture him so Daniel could turn him into a gold statue, one of his weird obsessions...

’Or is it...?’

His grip tightened, and he clenched his teeth as Ezra realized that Midas wasn’t as all-powerful as it seemed. His knowledge of the Unique Skill was limited, and the chance to learn more about [Midas] hardly came by.

"It’s because I can’t. Alan Peccator can’t be taken down by Midas, and do I even need to state his combat prowess? He’d kill me, quite easily too."

"Why does [Midas] not work on Alan?"

Daniel didn’t answer immediately, instead choosing to stare at Ezra for a long period of time, and the statue behind him. Daniel saw the ’listless’ look in his strange, mirror like eyes and laughed out loud.

"Because Alan Peccator is the son of a Goddess, A Supreme Being, I’m not stupid enough to take him on. With the amount of value he has, I’m certain he has a Unique Skill or two, and also protections against a wide variety of attacks. My Skill has a lot of conditions to use... and I’m certain Alan Peccator would win even if I used it."

"But your stupid enough to order someone to do it?"

"Careful now, boy. You don’t want me to get mad, now do you? Lest your wife be turned into fine gold dust."

Ezra’s ’mirror’ eyes shone with an ominous light, as he leapt up and grabbed Daniel’s neck, his fingers turned sharp, and a bit of blood escaped from Daniel’s neck. Daniel merely smiled, and the next second, a statue appeared beside him.

It was of his daughter, Elizabeth Park, who was also Ezra’s wife. The first and only woman he loved. Her ’golden’ expression was one of fear, and her hands were clasped together, as if begging. Her belly was enlarged. She was pregnant when Daniel had turned her into gold, turning her into something he could use to control Ezra.

The ominous glow in Ezra’s eyes vanished, as anguish took over. He reluctantly backed off.

"Have you thought of a name? Oh wait, is it a boy or a girl?"

Daniel asked, ordering the statue to disappear. He sighed, and took out a potion from his spatial ring, pouring a little bit of it on his neck. He extended his hand afterwards, staring at the spatial ring.

"What an amazing invention, sadly, only frosty boy can make one like this."

Ezra remained silent, and after a while, he grit his teeth and stood up, walking towards the mirror. Before he could enter, Daniel called out to him.

"Where are you going? We aren’t going to kill the boy yet, A lot has to be done beforehand, besides..."

He took a deep breath, and explained.

"Harrison is going to issue an emergency summons soon, calling all S-rank and above. We’d be besieging, or rather, nuking Terra Damnum, I predict it’s going to happen in three days, maybe less.

Take a seat, Ezra, don’t be too hasty."

Reluctantly, Ezra sat down once again, as Daniel explained the plan.

"First, take over Behemoth. Use them against Twilight, but only thirty percent of the guild, use the rest against Twilight. Don’t worry about Richard, I’ll take care of him covertly. When Alan Peccator returns to Las Vegas or San Francisco when his expedition ends, that’s when you will go and kill him."

"And what if he runs away? He can teleport, and what makes you so confident I can kill him?"

It was a valid concern, even if Ezra had [Copycat], which Daniel knew of, and [Speculum Infinitum], which was still hidden, it was a tall order to get an SS-rank to kill a near immortal SSS-rank... Even if Ezra was a genius, this was a bit far-fetched.

And Alan Peccator could run whenever he wanted to, Ezra had no means of stopping his teleportation. Setting aside portals, which were fragile, Alan could teleport instantaneously as far as his eye could see, if his mana allowed it.

And it certainly did, his reserves were simply monstrous.

"Oh my, you really don’t know? Everyone who has fought you is scared of you, but not frosty boy... I can bet you he’s itching for round two, and why am I so confident you can win?

I’ll be helping you, and what’s more, nothing is stronger than a man with everything to lose, you know?"
