Even though they were fighting like shit and basically getting their asses handed to them by the NightWalkers, I had to give credit where it was due; not a single Returner had died.

Given the fact that the Returners barely had any rest after the battle with the undead Hordes, it was quite telling about their resolve that they were able to jump right into a boss fight and still hold their own…even if they were getting knocked down repeatedly like bowling pins.

And then there was the Returner/Player team-up happening over at the West Gate…who, frankly, was having the most epic battle apart from my own.

All manner of Elemental attacks flew left and right; the players, in particular, had some interesting Talents, which was a testament to how the Tower’s inner workings weren’t that unsimilar to Arkadia to the extent that it was able to awaken certain aspects of their core being.

One thing we had learned over the years in the Origin Timeline was that EVERY SINGLE PERSON, no matter how useless it was, would receive a Talent of some sort. There wasn’t some bullshit segregation or criteria to receiving one; instead, it was something coded into our DNA that the system was able to activate, like turning on a light switch.

The only thing we didn’t have any hard evidence of was whether Talents could be passed on to genetic offspring. But that was mainly due to how little time had passed and that no child who had been born after the descent had shown any signs of manifesting a Talent.

This leads to the theory that there must be a physical requirement or age restriction attached to manifesting one’s Talent. Then again, that isn’t to say there weren’t kids who had awakened their Talent, and their parents hid the fact; it’s just that officially, we didn’t have any record of it.

’I suppose we will find out here in the next few years, with the players integrating into society, we should see something akin to the Baby Boom after World War Two.’ Opening and closing my hands slowly, I could feel the potion working its magic on my body as the tingling in my legs faded and gave way to a sharp pain that shot up my back…a sign that I had technically been hit so hard I became paralyzed.

Luckily, between the potion concoction and my natural healing factor obtained by being 6C, I was recovering quickly enough that It wasn’t permanent.

’Hm, Looks like Brenden and Emilia still have their tag-team cohesion from back then,’ shifting my attention away from the four gates and back to my group, I noticed my brother zipping around through the air like an angry hornet by using small foothold sized barriers manifested by his wife.

’He’s showing off, of course he is; I shouldn’t have told him about the drones or live feed. Now, hes determined to make up for putting on a so-called "Poor Performance" during the earlier stages of the fight.’ Shifting my line of sight, I noticed something that made me smirk and rewind the footage a few short times, the reason being, Sonas was splayed out on the ground, bloodied, and beaten to shit.

’I HAVE to see this one,’ it thought before bursting out into hideous cackles that ended with me coughing up blood in a violent manner.

After hearing me shouting that the Annihilation Aura was shut off, Sonas was the first to rush into battle, clearly under the impression that it meant the monster was going to be weaker…but the poor guy didn’t even make it three steps before being backhanded into the air with such force that he blacked out instantly.

Unfortunately for him, the NightWalker Didn’t stop there because before his body could even hit the ground, he was juggled every which direction by numerous punches and kicks, shattering a good majority of his armor and leaving only the equipment I had given him earlier in one piece.

By the time Brenden and my father jumped in, Sonas was in a sorry state and looked like absolute shit, but that wasn’t what made me cackle, no instead; it was what happened after the interference by Brenden and my father.

Seeing two more opponents showing up, the damn NightWalker casually tossed Sonas aside like trash, slamming him into the mountainside so hard it formed a small crater….leaving the poor Sonic hero in a VERY, VERY VERYYYYY Familiar physical position…one, a certain Z-Fighter, got put in during a fight with green aliens….only instead of on the ground he was vertical.

’Haha, heh, haaaa, now that I think about Sonas really is our version of Yamcha…ppfftt, hahahahaha! Always talking a big game only to get smacked, and here I thought he was our Krillin since he had his moments, but NOPE, annnnnd Screenshot.’ Making a mental note to print it out and frame it for Sonas, I went back to the live feed where Dad and Brenden were on the offensive.

Seeing as all three of us had trained for years together since coming back to the past, there was a certain level of synergy unseen in standard teams, an ebb and flow, if you will.

The two were completely aware of each other’s next move and worked around the other so that they wouldn’t accidentally get caught in friendly fire…honestly, it was seamless, and the results spoke for themselves.

If before, when all of us were unloading hundreds of attacks a minute on the monster battered it around, this time it was like watching a game of tennis, only the ball was the NightWalker.

Not to mention earlier, the monster had barely gotten so much as a papercut from us, but now, black smoke billowed out of every inch of its body, a sign that it was constantly regenerating the injuries it was racking up.

Without the threat brought on by the Annihilation Aura, the two close-range fighters were Teeing off and beating the ever-living shit out of the monster.

The only problem was that its regeneration was so powerful that it was keeping up with the damage, and without a third factor thrown into the mix, the team of Dad and Brenden couldn’t deal a fatal blow.
