In my opinion, no matter how intense battles in the Origin Timeline got, nothing gets the heart pounding as much as the sound of gunfire and explosions.

Sure, Talent Skills going off is pretty heated, but even in life-or-death situations, I stay relatively unhindered by a sword swung at my head or fireballs shot at my body.

However, As I snapped my head to the west, where the sound of multiple Military Grade fully automatic rifles was blasting away at anything that moved, I couldn’t help but imagine myself as being in an action movie.

(Shots fired, west side of the campus, two Fully Auto IARs, LB, move to intercept.)

(OB, LB The explosion wasn’t merely propane and pipe bombs; I’m sensing a heavy amount of Alpha-Rank particles in the air, meaning Particle Grenades have been spotted here) Dad’s voice rang out over the comms as I slowly and calmly turned to monitor Harvy and Kelvin.

By now, the two of them were geared up and moving toward the cafeteria, where I could already see a large number of people. From the look on the students’ faces, they were still trying to figure out what was happening, and not a single one had registered the sound of the rifles.

’Hm, Scenario 4 it is then,’ standing up on the rooftop of the school, my eyes drifted toward the notification I hadn’t finished reading earlier.

[There are no known Fixed Points In Time Associated with April 20th, 1999.]

’Sigh, little late there, Arkadia; coulda given me answers beforehand when I was trying other command prompts,’ shaking my head, I suddenly spotted something off in the distance, causing me to not only frown but immediately take to the comms.

(Heads up, the media is already stationed outside of the school; this plot goes deeper than we expected; anything we do could be caught on camera. Use extreme caution.)

(Copy, already linked up with several officers; someone called in a bomb threat less than a minute before the field bombs went off. SWAT is gearing up.)

(OB All the doors are locked, and there is no access to the building on the first floor. I’m searching the second as we speak, but everything is locked tight and, from what I can see, barricaded.)

(LB, break your way in; we can’t let anyone go, and based on those two from earlier, it would be simple for the enemy to slip out by blending into the crowd, especially if they’re returners. This is Scenario 4, I repeat, Scenario 4.)

(Copy) Brenden stated as the sound of shattering glass could be heard through his headset, no doubt having jumped through a window.

(Roger, SWAT Eta 4 minutes.)

’Damn it; I didn’t want to have to do this, but’ with a thought, I swapped out my Xipher equipment for something I had prepared just in case; in less than a second, my gear swapped to a matching set with Brenden with a back harness looping under my arms securing two new objects to my back.

Heaving a sigh and reaching over my shoulders with both hands, my fingers gripped the two exposed dark golden weapons.

’Always be prepared for anything; this is going to be a pain,’ I thought while drawing the two weapons, Eskrima Sticks; each one was around two and a half feet long and could be connected to form a staff.

While I’d LOVE to go into battle with my claws, I had prepared to use my second Talent instead this time around, mainly because I had a sneaking suspicion that my worst fears were about to come true.

That’s why, instead of my pitch black and red accented armor being on underneath my cloak, I was wearing a muted Golden variation, and in the center….was an annoyingly flamboyant N with an X behind it; that’s right, I had gone ahead and made a Nexus Suit…just in case.

There was nothing that could connect my appearance to that of Xipher; even my mask was in the style of one I had made for my brother, and no sooner did I make the alias change than a purple portal appeared on the rooftop with me.

Seeing the portal manifesting out of thin air, my eyes narrowed, not because it caught me off guard. No, I was fully on edge and ready for anything. It was because there were ZERO particle fluctuations indicating the appearance of a portal.

Following the solidification of the construct, ten people stepped out, wearing full tactical gear; the one in the front, who I assumed to be the leader, took quick notice of me standing there before smiling and spreading his arms and speaking.

"Well, what do we have here? Another one of us appeared to try to join our party. Hm? I don’t recognize the emblem on your chest; who might you be, stranger from a different time." The leader asked with an overconfidence befitting someone who was watching his master plan come to pass.

"Who I am doesn’t really matter much, does it, considering you probably assume I won’t be alive long enough to make a difference." Striking a cocky pose, I rested my right Eskima stick on my shoulder and allowed my left arm to hang loosely by my side.

"I suppose you are correct; then again, there is always more space for anyone wishing to join us, and judging by the power you’re exuding, I can see you seem to be in the middle of Alpha-Rank, a decent achievement if I do say so myself."

’Wow…wayyyyy off, heh,’ I thought while standing my ground and watching the other nine people wearing matching outfits step out and surround me.

While I was in the middle of a standoff, the sounds of multiple automatic rifles could be heard from every which way and screams of terror accompanied it.

(FUCK, OB, There is some roadblock in place; the SWAT team I am with can’t get close to the school; not only that, but there are dozens of news teams all over the place.) After swearing, my father calmly explained the situation, and soon after, another report came in from Brenden

(OB, we have a problem here. I am engaged with three returners, Villains from the looks of it, but that’s not all; at least a dozen active shooters are running around the school. On the positive side, I’ve also spotted two people I recognize as Heros who are basically doing what we are.)
