Now, generally speaking, having the ability to put stat points into your PC may not seem like too big of a deal at face value, but in reality, it was a MASSIVE and Important option.
But not for the standard reasons you’d expect. At its core value, particle count was initially observed as a means to activate one’s talent. From the perspective of gaming or fantasy culture, PC should be no different from, say, Mana points, or MP for short.
In nearly every video game, it was a basic stat that was used to show how many times you could fire off a skill or attack; however, there was a much deeper meaning than what we knew from games or novels.
The true nature of particle count is that it is an indicator of your body’s particle content.
BEFORE YOU ATTACK, I know what you are thinking, "Taylor, isn’t that just a recycled sentence? You’re basically saying the same thing over and over."
Well, fuck you, I wouldn’t say something if it weren’t important to what was about to happen to me. I know for a fact that I’ve mentioned it before, but a big issue cropped up the moment the first people stepped into the Beta-Rank.
Particle Suppression.
It caught so many of the high-rankers off guard the first time it happened to them. I, for one, have never experienced it due to my slow leveling speed in the origin timeline, but I was no stranger to the internet and its wealth of information.
The issue stems from the fact that Earth’s Planetary Grade was lower than what people were reaching within the confines of the Instances. Especially the ++ Rank ones, where higher particle forms were prevalent.
As you know, the act of ranking up to a higher Rank involves bathing one’s body in the particles filtered into PC, but there is more to it than that; technically speaking, it is particles of a higher rank than your body; thus, I was able to use the abundance of Alpha particles in the air once filtered to rank up.
The same can be said about Reaching the Beta-Rank; I could once again come back into a ++ Instance and repeat the process thanks to It having higher grade particles the deeper into the Instance one delved.
By acclimating to the particles, your body becomes stronger, but there’s a catch; it will only present that level of strength in the presence of said particles.
Inside of an instance, it’s fine and dandy, but the moment I step foot on Earth, I will fall under what has been named Particle Suppression. Due to the lack of sufficient particles of the proper rank, my body will be unable to exhibit the power obtained by ranking up.
While there is a manner in which you can temporarily mitigate the suppression, it is solely determined by your PC. Basically, what it boils down to is you can burn your PC by flooding your body with the particles, bringing your stats up to what they should be; however, as I said, it’s temporary, and when your tank runs out, boom, you drop back down to your Peak No-Rank stats.
As you can see, your particle count is multifaceted and has uses outside of your talent, so it can easily be the difference between life and death in battle on Earth.
When people realized this, the consensus became to increase your PC stat as much as possible.
Now, that may seem like a lot of data to consume, but what it boils down to is, although my rank won’t regress, my Stats are a different story; they will drop back down to what they had been before my rank up.
Luckily, not all of my stats will regress, only my Physical and Meta Physical ones, and this is why the thought that being 6C is so overpowered rattles around my mind and the reason I had gone out of my way to max out everything before proceeding to rank up to Alpha.
Because of my racial classification, I am able to extend my Stat cap, and thus, even with the Particle Suppression acting up, I will still have stats rivaling someone around Mid-Alpha Rank, putting me LEAGUES ahead of pretty much any of the Returners.
As it stands, unless someone has both a High Racial Classification and an optimal Circulation skill, my base form will be unmatched on Earth Pre-Descent.
"Fooo, 15 in my Phys and Meta Phys stats…that’s…hah, fucking nuts, well I guess apart from those crazy bastards who like acting like Protagonists with transformations, I should be the strongest Earthling for the foreseeable future."
"Still, I wish I had more time to continue leveling up, but even if I spend three months here again, I’ll be lucky to make a dent in the Alpha Levels. Sigh." Shrugging my shoulders, I began making my way toward the Bronze Gate leading back to the Instance Lobby, and upon stepping up to the shimmering barrier, I didn’t bother stopping to check if the guardians were still waiting around, they didn’t frighten me in the least anymore with my insane stat growth.
I had planned on killing them anyway, so when I crossed the threshold, I drew my dagger from the sheath positioned on my left hip.
The instant my body "appeared" in the lobby, the heads of all three Titana-Griswyrms snapped in my direction, and before I had enough time to take my second step, three energy bombs were screaming in my direction.
"Well, that’s quite the greeting you lot have given me; what is a poor child to ever dooo~" chirping playfully using my "Xipher voice." I simultaneously activated my Augmentation and kicked off the ground, easily getting out of the way of all three attacks.

Racing to meet the three monsters head-on, I quickly cleared the distance between us, and with three swipes of my dagger, all three Titana-Griswyrms became corpses.
Then, with a flick of my wrists, I straightened my body and headed over to the crystal-clear body of water in the direct center of the lobby.
