Collapsing onto my butt against the tunnel wall, I glanced at my quivering legs with annoyance apparent on my face.

’Even at 6C, this much power output is far too much for my body to handle as a No-Ranker.’ Clicking my tongue, I began massaging my legs, starting at my thighs and moving down to my calves.

Each light press sent jolts of electricity up my legs to the base of my spine, causing me to grimace in pain with every second that transpired.

’I’ve got a bad feeling I did more damage than I initially believed,’ with that ominous thought, I rolled up my pantlegs, and what I saw caused my eyes to narrow upon spotting the large splotches of purple, blue, and red marks running the full length of the important muscular structure of my legs.

’I couldn’t last a full 3 minutes…damn it, multiple torn ligaments and internal bleeding, heh…’ heaving a sigh, I withdrew one of the High-Alpha potions looted from the band of corpses I dealt with earlier, popped the cork and chugged it down in one gulp bringing about sweet, warm relieve to my tender and injured legs.

Although the damage done was rapidly healing, my hands didn’t cease their kneading of my injuries as I kept the blood flowing; as I did so, my eyes never left the two ravenous beasts throwing their bodies violently against the transparent barrier separating the Safezone from the depths of the Caverns.

Each crash of the hundreds of pounds of flesh, fur, and muscles sent slight ripples through the elastic-like barrier, but that was all they could do: cause minor disturbances.

No one or thing under Gamma could Destroy the Barrier separating the safe zones and instances, a fact proven in the Origin Timeline many times over; thus, I knew I had nothing to worry about, but that didn’t mean I would stop keeping tabs on the two Beta-Rank monsters.

"Whatever, I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I suppose I should check my XP gains. Since I’m still a No-Ranker, I’ll get double XP by killing higher level Monsters on top of the XP boost from the Instance being (++)…about 3.5 times…" Thinking aloud, I brought up my display panel and grunted in discontent upon seeing my lackluster XP gains.

{Level Progress: 10.55%}

’8.5%...sigh, if I were a basic Human, I’d already be level Capped and ready to push into Alpha, wherein I’d still have plenty of XP left over to reach at the very least level 7 or 8.’ Halting the massage of my left leg momentarily, I rubbed my temples to curb an impending headache from forming.

Technically speaking, there wasn’t a cookie-cutter formula that allowed someone to determine how much XP per Kill they could earn, as there were far too many variables that could change the actual amount of percentage gained, but you could still roughly estimate a figure.

In the case of Low-Alpha monsters, depending on their physical size, you could assume you’d net somewhere between 1-2% at Alpha Level 0, and it would incrementally increase by moving the decimal point around to factor in your current Rank.

This means that on average, outside an instance, you could potentially gain 10% XP as a baseline, factor in the XP multipliers, and a Basic Human could get around 35% XP for killing a single Low-Alpha Monster inside a (++) Instance. So, I should have earned around 105% from the three weaklings I killed off at the start.

Running some quick calculations, I found that my overall XP gain with the XP Bonuses in place came out to around 8500%, which got nuked down to 8.5% due to my Racial Class Restriction.

Further expanding my rough calculation, I soon understood the gravity of the task lying before me.

’If 13 Monsters only netted me 8.5%, that’s almost 800 monsters…I need to kill 800, for crying out loud…’ Falling onto my back, with arms splayed out like a starfish, I stared up at the tunnel ceiling with unfocused eyes.

"My body can’t handle that much consistent damage; frankly, I should have stopped after killing the first 10, but those last three were close enough that I went for it…suppose it was any other monster, like, say, one with ACTUAL intelligence. In that case, there is no conceivable way I could have eradicated them so easily."

Ignoring the dull thudding coming from my legs, I slowly got to my feet, with my knees popping like bubble wrap, and began working out the stiffness by pacing at a low-intensity pace from one side of the tunnel to the other.

"As it stands, I don’t think it will be a quick battle with those two, so my only option is to wear them down with Time and start a war of attrition; I didn’t want to stay here longer than a week…but it looks like I have no choice, in the meantime, I should continue using my circulation skill."

Unconsciously, I had begun spinning my new sword around my body as if it were a toy lightsaber while pacing around the safezone, and strangely enough, I felt my mind calming down thanks to the soft hums emitted by the blade cutting through the air…it was so satisfying for some reason.

"Unfortunately, I have a finite amount of times I can use it in the No-Rank, as there is a stat cap in each Rank, basically two times the number of levels within the Rank, so 10 points, that’s about eight days…" Looking over my shoulder at the two monsters, I examined a few things, such as their particle strength and stamina, before figuring out roughly how long they could sustain their little tantrum.

"If they keep up at the rate they are going, by then they will be sufficiently tired enough for me to take them out; still, it’ll be a tough battle, but if I’m at 10 points in my physical stats, so long as my body doesn’t break down too quickly the situation is manageable."
