Chapter 44: 44. Killing The Heaven’s Favourite

Crackle... Shatter.

The massive, spectral hand of pink and black demonic smoke plummeted toward the exhausted Vanguard Commander.

Old Ancestor Yin Ghost had poured the absolute limits of his Peak Nascent Soul cultivation into the strike, fully intending to bind Lu Mushuang and drag her away into the void.

But the attack never reached her.

Before the foul energy could even graze her flawless, porcelain skin, the very fabric of space above the canyon floor violently distorted.

The temperature plummeted from a sweltering heat to absolute zero in a single microsecond.

The suffocating demonic qi froze midair, turning into brittle, black ice before shattering into a million harmless, sparkling fragments.

A towering figure materialized directly out of the freezing shadows, standing protectively in front of the fallen girl.

"Father..." Mushuang whispered, her crimson eyes widening in absolute disbelief.

She stared at the broad back and the ink black hair that cascaded down to his waist.

The oppressive, world ending pressure radiating from his dark robes was completely unrecognizable from the man she knew just a few days ago. The ambient spiritual energy of the canyon bowed in submission around him.

He was a true Spirit Severing master.

I did not immediately look at the two vermin cowering before me. Instead, I turned slowly to look down at my daughter.

Mushuang was entirely battered. Her heavy silver broadsword lay abandoned in the dirt, her pristine face was smeared with dust and monster blood, and her breath came in ragged, painful gasps.

But what instantly triggered the darkest corners of my mind was her ruined Vanguard uniform.

The fabric was heavily torn, exposing the soft curve of her collarbone, the deep swell of her cleavage, and the smooth, pale skin of her long legs.

A violent, primordial fixation flared deep within my chest.

’They looked at her. They dared to look at what belongs to my bloodline.’

The toxic, hyper protective obsession of the villainous anchor threatened to drown my rationality.

I wanted to gouge out their eyes. I wanted to lock her away in the deepest vault of the Dragon Peak where no other man could ever gaze upon her vulnerability.

’She is my daughter. Control it.’ I repeated the internal mantra, forcing the suffocating darkness down until only cold, calculated wrath remained.

Without a word, I unclasped my heavy, dark outer robe and let it fall over her shoulders, completely covering her exposed skin and shielding her from the profane gazes of the outside world.

"Rest, Mushuang," I murmured, my voice vibrating with an ancient, unquestionable authority. "Your father will handle the trash."

A few yards away, Old Ancestor Yin Ghost was trembling uncontrollably.

His sunken eyes were wide with pure, unadulterated terror as he stared at the towering figure of the Supreme Elder.

The terrifying pressure of my Spirit Severing aura pressed down on his shoulders like a physical mountain, forcing his knees to buckle.

"Spirit Severing... it really is the Spirit Severing realm!" Yin Ghost gasped, his raspy voice cracking in panic.

His survival instincts screamed at him to flee.

,Burning his lifespan and his remaining demonic essence, the old daoist erupted into a thick cloud of foul, black smoke, desperately attempting to merge with the shadows and escape the canyon.

His Nine Heavens Forbidden Bliss Scripture activated instantly, attempting to use lust based laws to bypass my spatial lock. The sky above the ruins rumbled slightly. The Heavenly Dao was attempting to shield its Evil Path Child of Fate.

I narrowed my eyes at the shifting clouds. Yin Ghost had thirty thousand points of karmic luck. Killing him outright would undoubtedly trigger a massive heavenly anomaly, drawing the gaze of absolute monsters far beyond the Heavenly Sovereign Ruins.

"Lucy," I spoke coldly within my mind. "Open the system store. I need something to sever his connection to the Heavenly Dao. Complete karmic concealment."

"Ara ara, always so wonderfully cautious, Jianxiao," Lucy purred, her voice dripping with dark amusement. "I highly recommend the Heaven Shielding Karma Card. It is a single use item that completely masks the karmic backlash and suppresses the plot armor of a Child of Fate for exactly ten seconds. It will cost you ten thousand Fate Points."

"Buy it and activate it immediately," I commanded.

[SYSTEM ALERT: TRANSACTION COMPLETE]

Item: Heaven Shielding Karma Card (Single Use)

Cost: 10,000 Fate Points

Current Balance: 70,000 Points

Status: ACTIVATED. Target isolated from the Heavenly Dao.

The faint rumble in the sky instantly vanished. The heavy, invisible thread connecting Yin Ghost to his unearned destiny completely snapped.

The Ghost’s Despair

I did not draw the Heaven Severing Sword from my inventory. A pest of his caliber did not warrant the use of a divine blade. I simply raised my right hand, my sapphire blue eyes tracking the fleeing cloud of demonic smoke with absolute precision.

[COMBAT ART ACTIVATED: INSTANT DEATH SWORD OBLIVION STRIKE]

I swung my arm in a horizontal arc. A terrifying, crescent shaped wave of blood red sword intent erupted from my fingertips.

The strike completely ignored the physical distance, tearing through the fabric of reality itself.

SLIIICE!

The dark red crescent slammed into the fleeing cloud of black smoke. Without the Heavenly Dao protecting him, the lust based laws of Yin Ghost’s plot armor shattered instantly, completely overpowered by the sheer, unadulterated violence of a Spirit Severing sovereign.

"NOOO!" Yin Ghost shrieked as his physical body was violently forced out of the smoke.

The Oblivion Strike bisected the old daoist cleanly at the waist.

His upper torso crashed heavily into the cracked earth, completely separated from his legs.

The dark, burning Yang energy of my attack invaded his severed meridians, incinerating his Nascent Soul from the inside out before he could even attempt to abandon his mortal shell.

Within seconds, his grotesque form dissolved into a pile of gray ash, completely erased from the Heavenly Sovereign Ruins.

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION]

Target Eliminated: Old Ancestor Yin Ghost (Evil Path Child of Fate)

Reward: Supreme Mystery Box (Heaven’s Favorite Elimination Reward)

Total Balance: 70,000 Points

The canyon fell into a deathly, suffocating silence.

I slowly lowered my hand, my dark robes billowing gently in the freezing wind.

I turned my sapphire blue eyes toward the canyon wall, where the original protagonist of this trash novel was desperately trying to push himself into the stone crevices to hide.

Ye Chen scrambled backward, his boots kicking up dust and loose rocks as he desperately tried to put distance between himself and my approaching figure.

His golden sword, previously overflowing with arrogant martial intent, now lay completely forgotten in the dirt.

The sight of Yin Ghost being erased from existence with a single, casual wave of my hand had entirely shattered his reality.

"Elder Lu! Wait! You completely misunderstand the situation!" Ye Chen shouted, his voice cracking violently in panic.

He coughed up another mouthful of blood, clutching his shattered ribs as he pressed his back against the cold stone of the canyon wall.

I did not stop walking.

My footsteps echoed like a death knell in the silent canyon, the freezing absolute zero aura radiating from my body turning the ground beneath my feet into a sheet of black ice.

"Misunderstand?" I echoed softly, my sapphire blue eyes glowing with cold amusement in the dark.

"Yes!" Ye Chen nodded frantically, cold sweat pouring down his pale face. The so called Child of Fate had completely abandoned all dignity.

"I was never working with that demonic cultivator! I knew Yin Ghost had depraved intentions toward the Vanguard Commander.

I only pretended to form an alliance with him to keep him busy! I was stalling him, keeping him distracted until you broke out of the archive to save her!"

Behind me, Mushuang let out a weak, disgusted scoff from beneath my heavy outer robe.

Even in her exhausted state, the sheer shamelessness of his lie was physically revolting. Just moments ago, this exact same rat had been threatening to ruin her and drag her by the hair to his wife.

Seeing that his pathetic excuse did not even cause my footsteps to falter, Ye Chen’s eyes darted around in absolute desperation.

The ancient ring on his finger pulsed a weak, dim light, but the remnant soul inside was completely silent, utterly terrified of drawing my attention.

"Treasures! I know about the hidden treasures of this realm!" Ye Chen screamed, playing his final, desperate bargaining chip.

He raised his hands defensively, his golden aura completely suppressed by the crushing weight of my Spirit Severing pressure.

"Elder Lu, spare my life and I will give you everything! I have the exact coordinates to a Supreme Mystery Locket hidden deep within the inner sanctum of these ruins!

It is a divine artifact left behind by the Heavenly Sovereign himself! It contains an ancient bloodline legacy that can guarantee a breakthrough to the Dao Comprehension realm! Only I have the map imprinted in my mind. If you kill me, the location dies with me!"

He panted heavily, staring at me with wide, pleading eyes. In his mind, driven by the logic of a protagonist favored by the heavens, this was the ultimate trade.

No cultivator in the entire world could possibly resist the temptation of a guaranteed breakthrough to a higher realm. He genuinely believed his plot armor had provided him a way out.

I finally stopped walking. I stood merely three feet away from him, towering over his pathetic, broken form.

"A Supreme Mystery Locket," I repeated smoothly, tilting my head slightly as I thought internally.

’The locket is not for breakthrough, it’s for suppressing a curse which he seems to be not aware of.’

"Yes! I will take you right to it!" Ye Chen gasped, a glimmer of desperate hope finally sparking in his eyes.

I looked down at him, my expression completely devoid of warmth.

’I do not need his pathetic map. I have the Villainous Dad Meta System, and the moment he dies, every single piece of his unearned fortune would belong to me anyway.

Furthermore, the very idea that this filthy insect thought he could negotiate with me after threatening my daughter is laughable.’

"Lucy," I spoke internally.

"Ready when you are, Jianxiao," Lucy purred with dark anticipation. "Extract his destiny."

I slowly reached out my right hand, my long, pale fingers extending toward the trembling protagonist.

"You fail to understand the fundamental difference between us, Ye Chen," I whispered, my voice as cold as the deepest abyss.

"A sovereign does not negotiate with the dirt beneath his boots. I do not need you to show me where the treasures are."

Before Ye Chen could utter another word of protest, my hand clamped shut around his throat, lifting him effortlessly into the freezing air.

"I will simply tear the knowledge from your soul," I stated coldly.

His eyes bulged in absolute horror as my Spirit Severing power flooded directly into his meridians, completely paralyzing his spiritual sea and sealing his fate.
