Method (Very Simple):
If a player is parasitized by a Parasite Spider, they won’t die unless burned.

Hurry before it gets nerfed!

Friendship is friendship, but business is business.
Thankfully, my dear friend Mero seemed to understand this principle. She followed her friend’s instructions admirably.
“Aaaaaah! Let me go! I don’t want this! I don’t want to stop being human!”
“Oh my, Mero. Your hair is surprisingly nice. What hair care products do you use?”
“What hair care—?! It’s a VR avatar! Don’t pull my hair! At least grab my neck, not my hair—aaaaah!!”
I gently released my grip, which had been stroking Mero’s hair, and she threw herself—no, launched herself—toward the Parasite Spider.
Mero got parasitized.
I subdued Mero.
Then I used a Summoning Stone to call Rui.
Rui converted the parasitized Mero into gold and summoned her again.
And so, the cycle of Mero willingly getting parasitized repeated.
A tear-jerking tale of Mero’s sacrifices.
The more Mero sacrificed herself, the wealthier Leviathan became. Her noble spirit of selflessness could rival that of saints.
Come to think of it, "Mero" and "Messiah" start with the same syllable. Or maybe not. Never mind.
Ding!
How many Meros had been created and sold?
As the booming sales of Mero continued, a Discord notification popped up.
Hanabane Rui
[Can you cover the broadcast screen for a moment?]
[I need to talk to you.]
"?"
The message was from Rui.
I glanced at her. Rui was standing right in front of me.
Her expression was neutral as usual, but I noticed her avoiding my eyes slightly. It seemed like she had something to say that couldn’t be shared with the viewers.
“I’ll step away for a moment.”
Following Rui’s request, I covered the broadcast screen. The viewers would just think I was taking a quick bathroom break.
“I’ve done as you asked. What is it you wanted to say?”
Was she about to scold me for overworking Mero? Now that I thought about it, Rui and Mero were quite close.
“Our current balance has hit 500,000 gold.”
Turns out I was wrong. Rui wasn’t bothered at all. Either she was heartless enough not to care about Mero being sold off repeatedly, or she was deeply moved by Mero’s spirit of sacrifice.
Regardless, I checked the balance as Rui suggested.
【Balance: 511,221G】
“Earning 50,000 gold per cycle for ten runs adds up, doesn’t it?”
“Do you know how much gold the other teams have right now?”
“Of course.”
I nodded. There’s always at least one viewer on community sites who keeps detailed records of such things.
And I have a good memory, so I recalled the numbers perfectly.
“We’re way ahead of all the other teams combined,” Rui noted.
“That’s true.”
“It’s good that we’re in first place, but being this overwhelmingly ahead isn’t ideal...”
Rui explained seriously.

This Dungeon Seeker broadcast was a promotional event centered around earning as much money as possible. The goal was to outdo the other teams in gold earnings while taking on increasingly dangerous dungeons.
“The fun comes from the back-and-forth, you know? But if we pull too far ahead this early into the promotion...”
“It ruins the suspense for viewers.”
“Exactly. If viewers can predict the outcome, they’ll lose interest, and the audience numbers will gradually decline.”
It was like survival reality TV. The intrigue comes from wondering who will win. If the winner is obvious from the start, it kills the excitement.
Since this Dungeon Seeker broadcast was an ad campaign, declining viewership would mean reduced advertising effectiveness.
“So Deadraus, the sponsor, wouldn’t be thrilled about this situation,” Rui concluded.
“Probably not. They might contact us about it soon. ...Before that happens, let’s spend about 300,000 gold here.”
Spending that much would leave around 200,000 gold, which was still enough to keep us comfortably in the lead. The gap with Cerberus, who had 92,000 gold, would shrink from 400,000 to about 100,000. This would make Cerberus feel like they still had a chance, especially since it was still early in the game.
Later in the promotion, there might even be content allowing a single move to bridge such a gap.
“Let’s do it, then.”
After all, I was confident we could win even without the 300,000 gold. We weren’t just throwing the money away—we were spending it to avoid unnecessary criticism.
So, Rui, Mero, and I divided the 300,000 gold and spent it all on the spot.

In Dungeon Seeker, there are three main ways to spend gold:
In addition, gold can be used for changing costumes, but that’s not really related to character progression, so I didn’t bother with that.
I used all of the gold to level up my skills.
In this game, it’s generally recommended to invest in items rather than skills, but that’s not always the case.
‘If you die, your skills disappear entirely.’
To clarify, in this game, skills are bound to the character.
As I mentioned before, Dungeon Seeker is a game where lives are incredibly cheap. Death is a common occurrence, and Mero has already died dozens of times.
However, there is some form of relief. If a teammate’s body is brought to a church, you can pay gold to revive them.
But if a monster eats you whole, say, if your character’s head is completely devoured, there’s no way to revive them. In such cases, you’d need to create a new character.
Of course, when you make a new character, all the skills you’ve learned are lost.
So, spending gold on leveling up skills isn’t really recommended, but, well, it’ll be fine.
The character gets stronger, and who knows? I might make more money than I spent, even with the 300,000 gold.
As long as I don’t die, that’s what matters.
“Have you seen this, Senior Shina?”
