Chapter 238: Perfecto Healing

And Hugo just shook his head.

The room went completely quiet for a second.

Then everyone heard it.

Adrian let out a very soft and raspy sigh straight through his nose. And right after the sigh, his badly bruised face completely scrunched up. He winced hard because even that tiny movement caused his broken ribs to violently flare up with pure agony.

Aria immediately looked back at her father. She quietly listened to the voice in the mental link.

"Papa says that you should heal Claire first." Aria said out loud.

"Papa says you should just heal everyone else you can find first." Aria continued to relay the orders. "Whoever is currently injured in this place. The regular soldiers, the guards.... and Lorcan is sitting right in the next room over, so you can go heal him too."

Hugo gave a firm nod. He fully understood the assignment. Because he basically needed to use his blessing on lower tier injuries so that he could finally gain his "enlightenment."

So he heavily pushed himself up off the wooden floorboards and walked straight over to Claire’s bed. He didn’t hesitate at all.

He reached out and placed his large hand directly onto Claire’s ruined leg. He pressed his palm down just a few centimeters away from the massive and jagged chunk of flesh that the monster had brutally bitten on her calf.

The blinding golden light immediately erupted from his palm. And it completely washed over her injured leg with a heavy, pulsing glow.

But the backlash was completely instantaneous.

And Hugo didn’t just stand there peacefully. He winced a lot.

His jaw clamped shut so hard that he actually thought his teeth were going to shatter into pieces. So he just squeezed his thick fingers and grabbed Claire’s ankle with a brutal grip to anchor himself to the floor.

But Hugo was not the only one suffering in the room right now.

Because the exact moment the golden mana sank straight into her torn muscles, Claire’s eyes went incredibly wide.

She threw her head right back against the wooden headboard and her spine arched rigidly off the mattress. Her hands shot straight down and clamped right into the thick bedsheets.

And her knuckles turned completely bone white as she violently ripped the fabric.

Because this magic did not feel like a soothing and warm breeze at all. It felt like literal boiling water was being injected straight into her open veins.

The Healer’s Burden didn’t just punish Hugo. The intense healing process was an absolute agony for the patient too. Torn muscles were forcefully knitting themselves right back together at a thousand times their natural speed. And shattered bone splinters were actively shifting and fusing inside her leg at the exact same time.

But Claire didn’t scream.

Because her knight’s pride totally refused to let her do it.

So she just grabbed her feather pillow and bit down on it as hard as she could. She didn’t even care if she completely tore the fabric apart. She just stared blindly at the ceiling while her chest heaved in rapid, shallow gasps.

And her entire body trembled wildly against the mattress.

Serena saw Hugo struggling to just stay standing. So she quickly dragged the small wooden stool over and forcefully shoved it right behind his knees so he could sit down without breaking the magical connection.

Hugo dropped heavily onto the stool.

The golden light covering Claire’s torn calf intensified. It grew so ridiculously bright that Serena actually had to squint her eyes.

And Hugo let out a low and guttural groan. He gritted his teeth hard enough to make the heavy muscles in his jaw visibly bulge out. He just squeezed Claire’s leg even harder while his own massive body started shaking in perfect synchronization with the knight’s violent trembling.

Because they were both totally trapped in the exact same cycle of overwhelming and agonizing pain.

It felt like a total eternity.

But it was really only twelve to fifteen minutes.

Hugo finally gasped for air and ripped his hand away from her leg.

He sat straight up on the small stool. His entire face was completely drenched in a heavy layer of cold sweat. The back of his coarse tunic was completely soaked through and the front collar clung tightly right to his chest.

Because he was sweating so much that it basically looked like someone had just dumped a full bucket of water right over his head.

And Claire finally felt like she was free from the horrible pain.

So she spat the pillow out of her mouth and let it go.

She was panting just as hard as the teenager. Her face was totally pale and covered in a thick layer of sweat.

But Hugo didn’t even look at the leg that he had just fixed. He slowly turned his head and stared right at Claire’s right arm. He just stared at the heavy white gauze wrapping the bloody spot where her flesh had been ripped clean off her hand.

Serena completely ignored the injured arm. She stepped right up to the side of the bed and looked down at the leg.

"Is it..." Serena swallowed hard. "Is it healed already?"

Hugo just gave a slow and exhausted nod.

So Serena immediately reached down and started frantically unwrapping the heavy, blood soaked bandages right off Claire’s calf.

She peeled the thick layers of bloody linen back. But there was still a heavy layer of bitter, green medicinal paste smeared all across the skin. So Serena grabbed a wet rag from the bedside bowl and quickly wiped the green paste away.

She completely froze in her tracks.

Because there was literally nothing there.

There was no gaping wound and no torn muscle. There was not even a single, tiny pink scar left on the skin. The calf was perfectly smooth and completely whole.

Serena slowly turned her head and looked at Claire.

"There are literally no marks left." Serena whispered in pure disbelief.

Claire just blinked twice.
