Chapter 213: Magic Bombs

’I only have one more use of this teleportation thing left for today.’ Adrian thought to himself.

’I need to make good use of it.’

He tracked them for a short distance, and it barely took them about two minutes to reach their destination.

They went to a small mountain in the distance. And right at the base of the mountain, hidden behind some thick bushes, was a cave.

The camera feed followed them inside the cave. And sitting right in the center of the cave was a really tall, oval shaped stone.

Adrian could instantly tell that this was the dungeon entrance..

The short elf girl walked up to the oval stone and placed her hand flat against it. She turned her head and looked up at the high elves.

"Defend this place." she said. "Forget about attacking that human territory. We can always do that again later, but protecting this dungeon is much more important."

The high elves looked at each other and controlled themselves for being spoken to in such a rude manner. But there really wasn’t anything they could do.

Adrian just looked at the screen and sighed.

’Now how the hell do I get inside there?’ Adrian asked himself.

Because he knew the brutal reality of a siege. Even without these three elves actively helping the monster wave, the thousands of beasts throwing themselves at the wall would eventually manage to get through. With enough time, the sheer numbers would just tire everyone out.

The monsters would eventually tire Draven out. They would tire out Claire, and all of Draven’s wives and kids. And once the defenders collapsed from pure exhaustion, the monsters would just pour inside the territory and slaughter everyone.

He did not want that to happen.

So no matter what the risk was, he needed to take control over this dungeon today. It was the only way to stop the huge monster wave.

He stared at the screen and desperately tried to formulate a plan.

He briefly glanced away from the floating interface and looked across the room. Aria was just sitting silently on the cold floor, looking incredibly small and sad.

There were visible tears welling up in her large eyes.

Adrian just watched her for a few seconds. His heart ached slightly, but he quickly looked away. He was still angry at her reckless behaviour, and while he really wanted to go over there and scold her properly, he decided that now was not the right time for that.

There was something much more important that he needed to handle first to keep everyone alive, including themselves.

He turned his back to her again and paced around the room. He ran his hands through his hair, trying to think of a weapon that could actually hurt a high elf.

And then the answer hit him. It was a really simple solution.

He stopped pacing and immediately opened his system interface.

’System, I need a dynamite or some sort of explosive thing that you can make for me.’ Adrian commanded mentally. ’Whether it is purely magical or non-magical, it does not matter. Just give me the whole list of the most efficient and good explosives I can build with my current resources.’

[Affirmative.]

After barely three or four seconds, a massive list of potential explosive items appeared on the glowing blue screen.

Adrian quickly read through the list. He skipped over the complicated chemical bombs and the modern military explosives that required materials he did not have.

After reading through everything, he decided to use a magically enchanted bomb.

’Create this one.’ Adrian ordered the system. ’Build it right now.’

[Affirmative. Beginning automated crafting process.]

Adrian stood there and watched it happen right in front of him.

A heavy chunk of steel popped up in the air. It instantly superheated, melting down into a glowing liquid ball. Then the system just stretched and thinned the molten metal out until it formed a hollow sphere.

The steel layer of the sphere was intentionally left very thin.

But right before the sphere sealed shut, the system started working on the inside.

It took a single mana crystal from his inventory and floated it right into the center of the sphere. The system then rapidly carved complex, glowing magical runes directly into the inner walls of the steel hollow sphere.

It connected the rune symbols together with thin lines.

Then, a tiny metal cup was formed right at the bottom of the sphere on the inside. The glowing mana crystal dropped perfectly into this cup.

And it stayed there. The crystal was held tightly in place, but not because of physical clamps or glue. It was purely because of magic. The specific rune carved inside the tiny cup was a localized gravitational magic circle. It basically kept the mana crystal firmly stuck to the bottom of the sphere, preventing it from rattling around.

Once the internal components were set, the steel sphere completely sealed itself shut. The metal cooled instantly, turning into a dull, gray orb.

That was the bomb.

The core function of the weapon was beautifully simple. The runes basically acted like a super sensitive trigger. If any foreign mana even brushed the outside of that steel sphere, the signal would be triggered.

The runes would instantly drain the mana crystal and turn all that energy into extremely hot flames.

It was an explosion made entirely of extremely high heat. The sheer thermal expansion inside the sealed space would cause the thin steel to instantly rupture and detonate.

It was not a shrapnel grenade. It was basically a localized sun... just pure, extremely hot fire.

Adrian watched the first prototype drop onto the floor.

’Make fifty of them.’ Adrian commanded.

The system rapidly repeated the process. Dozens of dull gray spheres materialized and clattered onto the stone floor until fifty of them were piled up.

Adrian did not waste any time. He opened a tiny, targeted portal directly above the cave entrance where the elves were hiding.

He did not physically step out. He just stood in his dungeon and rapidly tossed all fifty of the steel spheres through the portal.
