Chapter 174: Ban List!
She was so incredibly proud that her father was this unbelievably good at magic.
And he was just a third circle mage.
Meanwhile, in her past life, she had hit the pinnacle of human power. She had reached the legendary ninth circle and even with all that raw, overwhelming power, he was still technically better than her in this specific aspect.
Because mana control only came with raw experience and training. The only thing she actually won out in was her vast arsenal of spells that she carried over from her past life. She didn’t get her high mana pool and output when she regressed back, but mana control was something based purely on experience and training. It didn’t depend on one’s mana veins or ranks.
But even right now in her current body, she was a fourth circle mage. Adrian was ranked below her in that category too, which meant that she still had a higher output and total mana compared to him.
’The amount of control he has is... incredible.’ Aria thought in pure awe.
They just continued shooting.
Monsters fell in groups all across the place but the horde just did not seem to stop. The beasts did not even care about the dead monsters around them. They just jumped over and brutally stomped right over the fallen corpses of their own pack.
The massive monster horde was getting closer and closer to the stone walls while Adrian just continued firing his ten arrow volleys.
He looked around the chaotic battlefield. He could see places where the monsters began clumping together.
’Aria...’ Adrian thought to himself. ’She can find the places where the monsters are most concentrated and drop a massive fireball on them.’
But he immediately stopped himself before the words left his mouth.
’Wait, no. Now is not the time.’ Adrian cursed internally. ’Fuck.’
He felt incredibly annoyed with himself. Because a huge part of him wanted to use her overwhelming magic to save this place and wipe out the horde instantly.
But an even greater part of him desperately wanted to keep the secret about Aria’s true rank hidden from the world.
He was trying to fight a brutal internal battle.
But in the end, Aria’s safety won.
’Just continue shooting arrows.’ Adrian decided. ’That is it.’
They stood on the wall and just continued shooting arrows for like five more minutes.
The wave of monsters finally crashed against the base of the wall.
The dumb beasts literally just started slamming their heads against the wall. They bashed the wall so hard that their skulls just cracked open.
But the dead bodies started piling up fast. The more monsters that died near the base of the wall, the bigger the pile became.
Some of the agile monsters actually tried to jump up. The walls were way too high for the heavy beasts to get over, but there were some specific monsters that possessed the physical ability to climb the stone walls.
The goblins.
Then there were the dire wolves that tried to jump but they still couldn’t get all the way up yet.
Adrian shifted his aim immediately and locked his floating arrows onto the targets. He aimed directly at every single goblin trying to scale the wall. He just picked them off one by one and dropped a goblin with every single shot.
As time passed, Draven stood at the edge of the wall and surveyed the area.
’Today, the extra number of soldiers Adrian brought have helped a massive amount.’ Draven thought, watching the arrows rain down. ’These monsters should be going back into the forest soon since their numbers are going down quickly.’
But that did not happen and the monsters just kept coming. They rushed out of the trees for ten more minutes.
The pile of bleeding corpses in front of the wall became huge and there was another massive problem that the monsters were giving them.
The beasts did not attack the wall at different, spread out locations anymore. They were entirely concentrated on one single, specific point of the wall, which was the place where the pile of dead bodies was.
At the very start of the monster horde invasion, the beasts just swarmed out of the forest from everywhere and hit the wall in a wide line. But as time passed, they shifted their entire formation. They started focusing on one single point.
And at this point, the pile of dead monsters acting as a ramp was increasing a lot.
"Oh, this is getting annoying." Adrian muttered.
He turned his head and looked at Draven standing a few feet away.
"Why don’t you use a massive fire spell?" Adrian yelled over the noise.
"Well, I could!" Draven shouted back. "But it is not going to burn these fresh, bleeding corpses properly! Wet meat does not catch fire easily!"
"For fuck’s sake." Adrian cursed as he closed his eyes and pulled out his system once again.
’System.’ Adrian commanded. ’Can you make me petroleum? I need gasoline.’
[Negative.]
[Gasoline not found.]
’Can’t you just compress the organic matter in the dungeon and just synthesize some gasoline for me?’ Adrian argued.
[Negative.]
[Gasoline is one of the specific items listed in the banned registry. Therefore, it cannot be created even if it is possible.]
Adrian just stared at the system screen.
’Wait, we have a banned list?’ Adrian thought in total disbelief.
[Affirmative.]
[The banned list was officially created the moment you received the system and unlocked the Dungeon Link skill.]
Adrian sighed.
’Okay... wait.’ Adrian changed his plan quickly. ’I’ll look into the banned list later. But if gasoline is gone, then just synthesize some high proof alcohol. You can make alcohol, right? It is naturally available in wines and beer and all of that normal stuff.’
[Affirmative.]
’Okay, good.’ Adrian ordered. ’Now give me one hundred percent pure alcohol.’
The system immediately got to work. The dungeon synthesized materials based on raw weight, so it did not measure the liquid in liters or gallons.
Adrian pulled out an empty spatial storage ring.
