Chapter 298: Mastermind [4]
It wasn’t like Diana was overwhelmed by everything that was happening in the world at present.
No.
She had witnessed many wars in her lifetime, and the thing that was happening at the moment couldn’t even be considered a war.
But still, it was interesting enough to warrant Diana’s attention.
Though a part of her interest was due to the fact that a kid of ten years named Allan had been killed in the attack, making her body want to bring justice to him.
Her body had a strong urge to make sure that the culprits behind the attack were thoroughly punished with the most brutal deaths.
But the larger part of her interest stemmed from her own curiosity.
Diana was curious about the identity of the person who was playing the world in his palms without getting caught or killed in the process.
It wasn’t like the intensity of the attacks orchestrated by him was on a level to make the elites of the world worry about him—
No, that wasn’t the reason.
From what Diana had heard and learned about the attack... all the attackers were merely Silver or Gold cores, with some of their main forces being in the Platinum rank.
There were some reports of the presence of a Diamond core in the territories of House Dracoth.
But that was it.
The lowly display of strength portrayed by the attackers shouldn’t have been enough to warrant such a high level of attention from every major force out there, but still... it was enough to make everyone cautious while dealing with this new emerging anomaly.
And Diana could easily see through their reasoning.
Antra... it was that bastard for sure.
Just his mere presence was enough to make the rest of the bastards cautious about handling the situation.
For Diana it was an amusing sight to see, as despite having overwhelming and destructive powers at their disposal, these beings had never grown to develop a spine of their own.
They would always show themselves as some big shots and stay hidden from the eyes of the world, as if the world was beneath them to even acknowledge its existence, but when an enemy of equal or greater power made a move against them, then—
The result was already visible before her eyes.
None of the major powers dared to openly take action against Antra and were now carefully observing everything from the side lines and trying to understand the entire situation.
The presence of the mastermind who could even make Antra come onto the board was something that should have made those cautious bastards even more careful than their usual way of working.
"Hehe."
Even Diana couldn’t deny that she had grown curious about the identity of this new variable.
The world had indeed become a lot more interesting than before, and maybe... Diana could use the chaos to supplement the extent of her own plans.
"You are being weird."
Narrowing her eyes, Alicia pretended to increase the distance between them by slightly adjusting her seat.
"Maybe... I am weird."
Diana didn’t take the effort to refuse her words and went along with them.
She had wanted to chuckle in her mind, but maybe she had subconsciously done it loud enough for Alicia to hear.
Looking at the situation from a neutral perspective, Diana raised her brows, realizing that she might have indeed looked weird with a creepy smile on her face—
"Did you think of some joke?"
"No."
Though Diana’s reply was instant, she couldn’t help but raise her brows in question, trying to replicate the facial expressions that her body would have naturally made at the moment.
"Then what was the need to make that creepy laugh?"
Alicia asked while slightly raising the tone of her voice, which made Diana look at her with blank eyes.
Not everything had to be analysed in such minute detail.
Still, it wasn’t like Diana was petty enough to argue with a kid.
"When is he going to contact us?"
Seeing that there was no need to engage in pointless conversations, Diana tried to change the topic, and thankfully Alicia complied with her by taking out her device and checking for any messages on it.
"There’s no message—"
Alicia’s eyes widened for a brief moment, after which she typed something on her device before raising her head to look at Diana, who simply stared back at her.
"He has mentioned the street’s address."
Turning the screen of her device, Alicia let Diana see the address.
"I think I know where it is."
Diana spoke before standing up from her seat.
It was good that Kael had messaged them or else Diana was going to find him on her own, as she had been bored while sitting at the same place—
"You have been there?"
"Hm? I have."
Diana replied naturally, though she quickly realised her mistake.
"But I had never seen you going to the market before. We have always been together—"
"I thought I had been there, but maybe I had just heard about the place from someone before."
Diana quickly clarified her stance before scratching the back of her head at the same time, as if trying to remember how she had known about the address.
"Uh... Is that so."
Though Alicia found it weird for Diana to have known about an address by simply hearing about it from someone else, she didn’t stay on the matter for long, as it wasn’t something to be debated upon.
"Let’s go or else do you want to make Kael wait for us?"
"N-No! Let’s go."
Alicia quickly denied before beginning to walk out of the restaurant.
She had no desire to make her brother wait for her, having only recently reconciled with him, at least to some extent, after years of distance.
Seeing Alicia exiting the restaurant, Diana followed soon after, though her lips subconsciously stretched into a small yet genuine smile.
"Wait for me."
"Be quick."
Alicia didn’t stop in her tracks, though her reply was immediate, making Diana increase her own pace.
