Chapter 276: Pat her [3]

Diana’s words seemed to have frozen the surrounding air, as a deep silence had enclosed my vicinity.

"Go ahead."

Diana spoke once again, seeing Alicia standing at the same place without making any movements whatsoever.

Haa...

"I think I should just head to the classes."

Speaking the words in a tone that was closer to a whisper, Alicia quickly began to retreat from the scene, but... it wasn’t like Diana would have allowed it.

"Since when had the Frosts become such cowards?"

The statement seemed to have hit the nail, as Alicia stopped midway, as she turned her face to look at Diana, who simply smiled at her.

But, that wasn’t the case for everyone.

Swoosh!

Clank!

"Move."

"..."

I simply stared at Kevin, who had his sword drawn out, as it was headed for Diana’s neck.

Though his attack had no intent to kill, it could have injured Diana nonetheless.

"Kevin?!"

Alicia shouted from the side, attracting the attention of the nearby students, not that anyone could possibly ignore the blade that I had deflected with a small dagger in my hand, that wasn’t even the size of my palm.

I could have simply stopped Kevin’s attack with my bare hands, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Though I had already dismissed the dagger into my storage, as Kevin had lost his advantage of surprise.

"Who are you to call us cowards, huh?!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Kevin uttered the words while gritting his teeth.

He still had the sword in his hand, though after being deflected, it now rested at Kevin’s side, with the blade aiming towards the ground.

"What do you think you are doing?"

Alicia quickly walked in Kevin’s direction before shaking the sword from his hand.

Though Kevin had been impulsive in his action, I couldn’t help but look at Diana, who simply shrugged her shoulders in response.

Haa...

There was no way the heir to the dukedom would hear such remarks against his own house.

"She was just saying it in a casual manner... nothing for you to get so upset over."

Alicia spoke softly as Kevin seemed to have calmed down a bit.

Though Diana was in the wrong, I didn’t think it was to an extent to warrant such a reaction.

Wasn’t Kevin being a little too aggressive, or was there some bad blood between the two that I didn’t know about?

Had she done something else to this guy in the past?

I thought while once again looking in Diana’s direction, who still had the same smile on her face.

This girl... she had become a lot crazier since the last time I had seen her.

Or had she always been the same?

"Yeah, dude.... the classes have begun. Let’s go."

Noah, as usual, moved the moment Alicia had begun to diffuse the situation.

Going by logic, he should have already sensed Kevin’s movements, but made no effort to save Diana.

Still... it wasn’t like Diana was helpless either.

Even if I had simply stood on the side, nothing would have happened to the girl, but—

I couldn’t exactly miss such an opportunity to show the dog his rightful place.

Kevin just clicked his tongue before giving me a final glance, and then walked out of the area along with Noah.

Things sure had escalated pretty quickly.

"What’s wrong with you?"

Hm?

Alicia moved forward, making me look at her, but she moved past me before standing close to Diana, who simply scratched her cheek in response.

"Have you been possessed by some ghost since leaving the academy?"

I could see Alicia’s eyes narrowed as if she really thought that such a thing may have happened.

"I have."

"..."

"..."

Diana responded with a serious look on her face.

"Alright. So when is the ghost leaving you?"

Alicia asked while shaking her head in... disappointment.

I couldn’t help but agree.

Diana was being a lot different today.

Maybe her cousin’s death had hit her pretty badly, making her realize the importance of life.

Was this Diana’s way of enjoying her life?

It could be.

"I can’t exactly tell the time, but I think it will be staying with me for quite some time."

Diana answered while placing her index finger on her lips and smiling at the same time.

No.

It looked closer to a smirk.

"But forget about me, the topic of importance at the moment should be you."

Diana pointed at Alicia, making the latter take a step back.

"The classes have begun, and I think we shouldn’t miss—"

"Missing a single class won’t result in much loss. And even if something happens, he will take the blame... won’t you?"

Diana spoke while looking in my direction.

Alicia too now had her gaze fixed on me.

The students, seeing the situation being diffused, had already dispersed, making the area a lot more vacant than before.

I didn’t respond to Diana, simply choosing to stand there in silence.

"Silence itself is confirmation, so I think that solves all your problems."

"..."

Diana took the liberty, without having to ask for my permission.

Sigh.

Maybe... I should just drop the idea of using her, because looking at everything right now, dealing with Diana had become quite the hassle.

"So... what should we d-do?"

Alicia fumbled with her words at the end, as if embarrassed to accept that she was willing to hang out with us.

"Isn’t the answer simple? Let’s go eat, but before that—"

Diana paused just as I was about to walk in the direction of the cafeteria.

"Hug him."

"..."

"You still hadn’t followed my instruction."

"Diana—"

"No one’s here."

Diana whispered near Alicia’s ear, making me look around.

As the classes had begun, the surroundings had now turned silent, with most of the students having left for their respective classes.

"Go... don’t be scared!"

"Huh? Wait—"

Diana raised her voice at the end while pushing Alicia towards me.

"..."

The Frost was now standing a foot away from me, as I observed her in silence.

Though these childish acts had become boring for me to see with my eyes... I still had to bear with them.

After all, in some way or the other, Diana’s efforts were helping me achieve my own goals.
