Chapter 87: The Parent’s Wrath

As Alen and Ravena both steadied their bodies against the trembling earth, a massive shape erupted from beneath the ground. A giant worm appeared, scattering red sand into the air. It was the exact same size as the beast Alen had faced earlier; it was a Bloodsand Leviathan, the very same species of monster Alen had fought when he first arrived in this crimson wasteland.

But the terrifying event didn’t simply end with the entry of just one giant worm.

More Leviathans started to appear from deep beneath the crust of the earth. They tore through the ground, exploding the surface and sending heavy debris flying through the air. Four more of these colossal Leviathans emerged, completely surrounding Alen and Ravena from every conceivable direction.

Alen couldn’t help but stare at the horrifying scene in sheer shock. The five giant worms had completely boxed him in. They acted as if he had personally stolen their food, exclusively locking their massive heads onto him as their primary target.

"What the f*ck? Why are they all targeting me?!" Alen yelled over the rumbling earth.

He looked down at Little Ravena with a deeply questioning and suspicious look.

Ravena immediately looked away, clearly trying to hide something while attempting to act as if everything was perfectly normal.

"Hey, my dear weapon," Alen said, his voice dropping dangerously.

"Are you going to tell me what you did, or am I going to have to beat it out of you to know the reason?"

Ravena looked up at him, feeling extremely offended by his threat, but she didn’t try to deny his words. She knew the exact reason why these massive monsters had come here, and truth be told, she had already expected their dramatic entrance.

"Well... It’s just..." Ravena mumbled, shuffling her tiny feet.

"I just played with their children a little bit. That is why they came here, it seems."

Alen stared at her with a long, hard look and frowned slightly.

"What exactly do you mean by ’they came here because you played with them’? Why would they become so incredibly angry just from you playing along with their offspring? What is your exact definition of the word ’playing’?"

"Well... It’s just, I ripped their children’s bodies apart while playing. I took out their internal organs and forcibly fed them to the other children... Well, it seems their children may have died after losing their organs," she admitted casually.

"It seems they are appearing now after sensing my presence. They have quite a sharp set of senses."

Alen stared at her in absolute, horrifying disbelief.

"You did what?! You actually made them eat their own kind?! And you still have the nerve to call that a ’game’?! You are completely insane!"

She looked away, unable to deny his harsh words. Because she had felt too incredibly bored after spending centuries alone in this desolate place, she constantly had to find new, twisted methods to entertain herself. Because she was fundamentally a weapon and lacked genuine human emotions, she hadn’t felt anything resembling guilt while playing with them. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

All of the cruel things she had done were nothing unusual for her. There had never been anyone around to judge her or question her dark behavior.

She was practically the strongest person in the entire Crimson Sky realm, so no creature could ever dare to offend her. But when parents saw that their precious children had died, they were bound to be uncontrollably enraged at her. She had basically torn apart the pieces of their very souls by killing their offspring. These Leviathans were not wrong to come here to deal with the murderer.

Every parent in the world naturally loves their children. They let them grow into new environments and interact with others in order to help them learn about the harsh realities of the world. Good parents will give their children the freedom to live and choose their own path. They may provide choices or suggest different things, but what truly matters in the end is the child’s own decision.

Parents are ultimately bound to support their offspring. Because they love their children so deeply, they will often go out of their way to fulfill even the most unreasonable demands, just to see their child become happy. That is the true, raw essence of a parent’s love.

Every parent wants their children to prosper and grow into adults they can be proud of. This doesn’t mean they will support their children blindly; parents also view the world from a different, older perspective, which may or may not align with their child’s point of view. They offer support whenever it is necessary, but they also teach discipline and stop their children from walking down the wrong path. But ultimately, their main goal is always for their children to be safe and happy. They are fully ready to sacrifice themselves for that cause.

If anyone ever tries to hurt their children, parents will immediately stand as a solid shield to protect them. They will never let anyone harm their flesh and blood, acting as the ultimate proof of their unconditional love. After all, a child is an extension of the parent’s very own soul.

And Ravena had done something that no parent would ever be ready to forgive. She had maliciously killed their children. And not only had she killed them, but she had practically tortured them before their deaths. These massive beasts could not forgive such a terrible sin, and they were going to make her pay with her life.

Because Ravena had been reduced to the powerless stage of a toddler, she was completely helpless against their fury. She couldn’t do a single thing to defend herself against the massive worms.

If she were still at her peak stage of power, she would have wiped them all out without even lifting a finger. But now that the situation had completely flipped over, she had no choices left and no way to convince them to back down.

Alen sighed heavily and shook his head at her. He didn’t really need to know the exact reasons behind her cruel deeds, because he personally knew what it meant to feel completely and utterly lonely.

When people feel truly lonely and grow tired of living their monotonous lives, they will constantly search for new reasons to keep going. They will try to find dangerous or bizarre things that make them feel excited or happy. Or, at the very least, they will pretend to be happy about doing those things. But internally, they are just faking their joy, as hidden emotions like guilt, sorrow, and deep regret continue to exist within them. They might simply be lying to themselves to hide their true, miserable feelings.

For Ravena, this may or may not have been the case. But ultimately, right now, none of that mattered. They simply had to brace themselves for the Leviathans’ wrath.

As Alen looked up at the towering monsters with a deep, unsettling gaze, Ravena, who just stood beside him, suddenly began to change her physical form. With a flash of light, the Crimson Dagger appeared. It was the exact same dagger Alen had seen earlier in the White Haven.

The glowing dagger flew over and hovered right beside Alen, silently urging him to take hold of it.

Alen looked around at the surrounding enemies, who were already starting to thrash angrily because of the sudden disappearance of their primary target.

Alen reached out and held the twisted handle. The guard was sharp and uneven, shaped almost exactly like broken spikes or jagged claws.

As Alen’s grip tightened firmly around the hilt, the crimson essence radiating from the blade coiled through the air, automatically wrapping around his arm at his will.

As the furious Leviathans saw him getting ready for battle, their burning anger transformed into a raw, deafening scream. They launched their giant bodies directly toward him, fully intending to crush the boy beneath their massive frames.
