[Dead after Hope hype is real]

As soon as the project’s concept notes, character list, and relationship chart were released, drama fans buzzed with excitement.

Not only the main PD and screenwriter but even the cinematographer, lighting director, art team, music team, and costume team all came from production houses well-known to drama enthusiasts. For drama geeks, this lineup was like a dream.

[Guaranteed hit: Min Jiheon appears]

And the lead actor—Min Jiheon.

Even back in his theater days, when he played a deranged scientist obsessed with frogs, he had audiences in tears.

He had never had a flop. People called him the “invincible actor.”

[But the project description’s kind of vague lol, doesn’t feel like it’ll be a hit...]

【A smart man, but not outside the ordinary range.

Quick-witted and level-headed, yet ordinary.

Slightly altruistic.

An everyday man living as usual, suddenly facing a disaster beyond imagination—what path will he take?】

But the stated concept itself looked plain. Nothing striking.

[Why would you put an “ordinary protagonist” in a post-apocalypse drama?]

[Lol whatever, he’ll swing a bat a few times and awaken]

[Why even read project notes, they always write generic crap and the drama’s totally different anyway]

[But this comment made me laugh—

Like, they didn’t mention looks at all.

Min Jiheon is definitely not ordinary-looking.

He’s blindingly handsome.

Bet they edited that part out.]

[LMAO that’s exactly it]

Most people decided to just wait and see, but expectations weren’t high.

Yet the moment episode 1 of Dead after Hope aired, the reviews flipped 180 degrees.

【Please! Somebody help me!】

The city turned into chaos in an instant, survival becoming the only concern.

Min Hanjun, played by Min Jiheon, was no exception.

Hiding, he heard a trembling child’s voice. A boy, maybe ten, trapped inside a car, crying and smeared with snot and tears, while two infected pounded on the window.

【Ha, haha... I’m going insane here.】

Min Hanjun laughed bitterly.

The risk of dying trying to save the child, or the guilt of ignoring him—he hesitated in between.

Countless emotions flashed through him in that brief moment, but he ultimately chose to help. Because he knew the terror of being left alone.

Grabbing a rock, he smashed one infected’s head, then swung at the other. Even a direct blow only staggered it—it lunged to bite.

He shut his eyes, thinking it was over.

Whack!

【Why would you close your eyes there?!】

Opening them at the familiar voice, he saw a kind-faced man—someone he’d glimpsed earlier among a group of survivors.

Swinging his bow, he crushed the infected’s skull and shook off the blood. Introducing himself, he said his name was {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} Kim Woohyung.

His arm was in a cast. Since proper treatment was impossible in this world, Hanjun judged the injury old enough to rule out infection.

【Phew... You okay?】

He comforted the child, lifting him carefully.

After that, the two only traveled together briefly until they found a shelter for the boy. Kim Woohyung left soon after, saying he needed to find his brother.

【Let’s meet again. Stay safe until then.】

【Yeah. Thanks.】

Hanjun stood at the entrance until Woohyung’s figure disappeared. Soon after, the shelter was breached by infected, forcing Hanjun back out.

Though short-lived, Kim Woohyung left a powerful impression on viewers.

[Wow this is insanely good TT__TT]

[Finally, a masterpiece-level drama. The set scale is huge.]

[And the acting... incredible. Please don’t let the tempo fall off T_T

└But Seo Hoyun... from the brother foreshadowing, feels like his role’s gonna get way bigger

└└LOL... blurred vision...]

One week later, the teaser for episode 3 dropped.

Viewers believed Dead after Hope was about humanity, hope sprouting even in despair.

【Get the fuck away!!】

But episode 3 shattered that. Within 30 seconds, someone betrayed or died; within a minute, someone was bitten.

[LMAO I’m literally holding my head right now mumbling “Is this real” Writers, PDs, actors—you didn’t have to do us like this...]

[But honestly, it’s realistic. Painful, but real.]

At rations, the weak were cast aside.

Physical strength became law and power. And this was only a few weeks into the outbreak.

[Writer’s blindsiding us hard]

[No way... you were one of us, a good person!!]

[The way he smiled at Hanjun just now was chilling;;;]

As despair swallowed the story—

【Why would I?】

Kim Wooho appeared.

[Oh shit, it’s Woohyung’s brother!!]

But unlike Woohyung, who had always smiled and saved people—

【Idiot.】

He was rough.

【No thanks.】

He was lazy.

【Why should I?】

He was calculating.

[Wtf happened to this guy? He’s disgracing the national team!]

[Bet he’s a fraud, can’t even shoot properly]

[Only thing he’s got is his face]

[He’s the worst lmao just look at him sitting back smirking, so irritating]

[Seo Hoyun’s acting is so good... People aren’t even talking about the drama anymore, just how much they hate Kim Wooho hahahaha

└True, I didn’t even think about “acting.” I just wanted to punch him in the back of the head...]

Suddenly, Wooho and the new survivor group became the villains of episode 3.

[Noooo Hanjun is a good kid!!]

[There’s no way Min Jiheon’s character dies like this]

Near the end, Wooho pointed his arrow at Hanjun, surrounded by infected.

【Yeah. Fell off a bike like an idiot a few weeks ago.】

【......】

【So what? Of course I can’t use a bow.】

Muttering, Wooho suddenly brightened like he’d heard something fun, tilting his head.

【Then who’s the liar here?】

He slammed his bow down, crushing the infected’s skull.

【...Why didn’t you shoot?】

【Arrows are precious.】

Hanjun blinked, stunned. Wooho just smirked.

The villain tormenting Hanjun was abruptly eliminated by Wooho’s hand, ending the episode.

[The pacing at the end was insane]

[Lmao so he can solo kill infected this easily??

Feat. all of Hanjun’s struggles till now...]

[Everyone kept saying Hanjun is “ordinary,” but in this world it makes sense haha Kim Wooho is literally OP hahahaha]

[But Wooho feels sketchy... like he’ll betray Hanjun any second]

[Exactly lol, is he the real villain now?]

The reactions were polarizing, but all agreed—Seo Hoyun’s acting was incredible.

[Seo Hoyun acts soooo fucking well. Nobody’s talking about the protagonist, just Kim Wooho]

[That sudden flash in his eyes... unreal]

By episode 4, Seo Hoyun’s popularity exploded further.

His harsh, dismissive character softened whenever it came to his younger brother, Woohyung.

When he heard news of Woohyung, his mask cracked into desperation. When meeting someone who’d seen him, his gaze shook.

【Pfft, that kid was always clumsy.】

Or he’d laugh recalling embarrassing childhood stories—like Woohyung losing his front teeth tumbling off a scooter.

Viewers were dragged into his character with no escape.

[Shit I’m losing it over this guy]

[He came in as an asshole, now don’t you dare redeem him TT__TT]

But even in the drama, his attitude toward Hanjun shifted.

At first, he dismissed him as “useless trash,” but now he watched him as though seeing his own brother.

【Why do you keep sticking with me?】

Caught off guard, Wooho hesitated before replying—

【You remind me of Woohyung.】

【Huhhh?】

Slurping ramen, Hanjun choked, spraying noodles.

【Ah hot, shit. Your brother, you mean? Is that a compliment?】

【No. Wipe that stupid grin and clean your mouth.】

Even as Wooho scolded, Hanjun just laughed and wiped with his hand. Wooho clicked his tongue.

【Just... you’ve got that same dumb streak. Saving people even now.】

Naïve, easily tricked, but still believing—still helping.

【That’s not dumb. That’s just right.】

【Yeah, dumbass.】

【And you too, Wooho.】

Wooho frowned, surprised. Hanjun spoke matter-of-factly.

【You’ve saved me more than once.】

In Hanjun’s eyes, trust in Wooho had already taken root.

【Yeah... People like you need to exist.】

Wooho’s long eyes softened.

[Kim Wooho... like an angel]

[He IS Korea]

[His “handsome national athlete more famous than celebrities” setup felt overdone, but now it’s perfect]

[His eyes when he first met Hanjun vs now haha Totally different]

[The first look was brutal LMAO]

Episode 4 ended with Wooho silently clutching his face, trembling, after hearing news of Woohyung.

No lines, but his shaking hands and ragged breath said everything.

[God my heart TT__TT]

[Mark my words, Wooho will be the breakout character. I’ll stake my life on it]

[Seo Hoyun’s acting is unreal. Didn’t know he could play “dirty personality” this perfectly. Whenever it’s about the brother, the immersion spikes. His diction is flawless too.]

[Every gesture, every glance shows a life of struggle. Even before the outbreak, you can tell he lived through hell as a national archer.]

By just four episodes, Dead after Hope broke viewership records.

Behind-the-scenes clips, staff posts, PD and casting director interviews—fans devoured everything, still unsatisfied.

Then came the entertainment news show.

“Today we have the hottest stars, Dead after Hope’s Min Jiheon and Seo Hoyun!”

“Hello~.”

“Hello!”

[AAAAHHHHHHHH]

Freed from their gritty apocalypse looks, polished and styled, they shone on screen.

[Jiheon looks inhuman]

[Seo Hoyun is so fucking handsome]

[Both of them are crazy good-looking, but with this sharp aura]

“I’m Seo Hoyun, playing Kim Wooho in Dead after Hope.”

“I’m Min Jiheon, playing Min Hanjun~.”

Jiheon, normally infamous for giving curt interview answers, was surprisingly chatty—thanks to Hoyun’s sly prodding that kept the conversation flowing.

Although Jiheon’s laughter still came in stiff bursts—“Ha. Ha.”—like staccato notes.

“Thanks to both of your passionate performances, I’ve become a huge Dead after Hope fan myself! So I’m thrilled to reveal the profiles you filled out beforehand. Shall we take a look?”

“Yes~.”

“Starting with Seo Hoyun... strongest skill... oh my! Really?!”

“Of course.”

“Wow, the confidence!”

Eyes wide, the reporter dragged out the suspense, slowly flipping the page.

“Everyone, Seo Hoyun’s strongest skill is—!!”

[Acting, obviously]

People expected “crying on cue,” “singing a line,” or maybe a clumsy impression at best.

Instead, the reporter’s voice rang clear—

“—idol choreography!!”

[What???]
