Early next morning, He Chen woke up as usual.
As soon as he returned to this home, he habitually got up to boil a pot of water, then made breakfast and kept it warm in the pot, waiting for Ye Manman and the two little ones to wake up and eat.
The main purpose of this trip back to the countryside was to pay respects to He Chen’s parents, to relax for a few days, but both Ye Manman and He Chen also had people they wanted to see.
After breakfast, they took the two children and drove to town.
Because they’d already called Jiang Yuan before coming back, they quickly found the home of Jiang Yuan and Liu Jitong.
Jiang Yuan had also been to Jing City many times before, but each time she left the children with their grandparents, so Ye Manman had never seen her kids.
This time, as soon as they arrived at Jiang Yuan’s house, they saw her three children.
It must be said, Jiang Yuan is a bit more capable than Ye Manman; her first child was a son, and for the second pregnancy, she had twin daughters, simply amazing.

He Chen was chatting with Liu Jitong and Jiang Yuan’s brothers who had come over when they heard the news, discussing various things, while Ye Manman was introduced by Jiang Yuan to her two sister-in-laws.
Meanwhile, the children quickly started playing together. He Yanzi, with his broad knowledge that others his age didn’t possess, coupled with his calm demeanor and big brother vibe, quickly became a leader in the children’s eyes.
He Yuchu was almost the youngest among the kids, just over three years old, but she was beautiful, like a porcelain doll, and particularly good at acting cute. Both boys and girls liked to play with her. After she told them a little story Ye Manman had shared, everyone was interested, and they all started playing a knight and princess game.
Of course, He Yuchu was unanimously chosen as the princess.
The children played boisterously all day long, and the adults talked amiably for nearly the whole day, until it was almost dark, and they were warmly invited to stay for dinner before driving home.
On the way back, He Yuchu was very happy, and He Yanzi also felt that there were so many peers in this place. Everyone admired him and he found fulfillment and enjoyed teaching the others things they didn’t know.
"Mom, when are we coming back? I really like playing with them."
He Yuchu was very fond of the atmosphere here, plus the children were genuine and sincere towards her. She made several friends in just one day, which would be impossible in Jing City!
Ye Manman didn’t know when they would be back, so she gently patted her daughter’s head comfortingly.
"When you get a bit older, we’ll come back to visit Mrs. Jiang and Xiao Tian, okay? Then you can prepare some gifts for them. Do you know what they like?"
He Yuchu nodded proudly.
"Yes! They all told me, and I promised to bring them gifts next time we come!"
"Good job, Tiantian~"
Ye Manman and He Chen exchanged a glance. Both felt a pang of reluctance towards leaving their friends Jiang Yuan and Liu Jitong, but they really couldn’t stay long and wouldn’t be coming back often.
For one thing, they had settled completely in Jing City and with all their family there, there was no need to return.
Another reason was that they would only become busier in the future, with barely any time to come back for short stays.
Additionally, Ye Manman planned to teach He Chen and the kids more languages at home, so that by the mid-90s, they could travel abroad as a family.
Just like she’d told He Chen before, she wanted to take him to all the places she’d visited, leaving imprints of them both in every place she had set foot on in the world.
So their visits back would only become less frequent.
Also, children change their minds every day. Right now, they might cherish rural friends and the simple life, but after living in the city for a while, they might find returning a hassle or dirty or some such sentiment; it would be a different story then.
No one can guarantee what future thoughts will be, but Ye Manman and He Chen had long set their life’s path. They would only follow the route they decided on and wouldn’t waver due to the children’s opinions.
