"My name is Lin Mu."
"Brother Lin, Brother Lin!" Liu Tao and Chen Gang called out respectfully.
Lin Mu smiled and then said, "Alright, you two go back. Leave everything here to me."
"Boss, we don’t want to go to school anymore." Liu Tao and Chen Gang spoke up again. They probably also felt like they wouldn’t be able to keep studying here unless Lin Mu were the principal; otherwise they’d definitely get expelled.
"Oh? You guys got into college with your own abilities, it’d be such a waste to quit. Why not go?" Lin Mu asked.
"We beat up the principal. According to the rules, we’re definitely getting expelled." Liu Tao and Chen Gang said.
"Scared of a damn bird? Didn’t I say I’d smooth things over for you?" Lin Mu said. If he couldn’t fix it, wouldn’t that mean he’d screwed these two kids over?
"Boss, you don’t get it. Principal Zhang’s got a lot of connections in school, and he’s got a lot of connections outside too. There’s no way we can keep studying." Liu Tao and Chen Gang said.
"What kind of connections?"
"He’s tight with Young Master Jin, one of the Handan Four Young Masters from outside..."
"You guys just sit here and wait to die!" While they were still talking, Principal Zhang had already climbed up from the ground with his phone in hand. The bastard had secretly called someone outside—he’d called Jin Douya, one of the Handan Three Young Masters. Just expelling Liu Tao and Chen Gang obviously wasn’t enough to vent his anger; he had to find someone to give Lin Mu a real good beating.
And Principal Zhang had just called Jin Douya, and Jin Douya agreed to send a few guys over to back him up.
"Heh, alright then, I’ll give you another ten minutes." Lin Mu suddenly said with a grin to Principal Zhang.
Principal Zhang’s arrogance flared up again. After all, his backer was Young Master Jin—one of the Handan City Four Young Masters. Who would dare mess with him? In Handan City, how could a bunch of damn losers like these go against them?
So Principal Zhang didn’t take Lin Mu seriously at all, and secretly decided that later he had to beat the crap out of him. Only then could he truly vent the anger in his heart.
Liu Tao and Chen Gang were still very worried, because they knew full well that Principal Zhang’s backer was Young Master Jin of the Handan Three Young Masters. No matter what, Young Master Jin was someone they absolutely couldn’t afford to offend. But then they looked at this boss Lin Mu—he didn’t seem worried at all. His expression was relaxed, and he was swaggering as he lit a cigarette.
"Want one?" Lin Mu asked Liu Tao and Chen Gang with an easy smile.
Liu Tao and Chen Gang froze for a second, then nodded. Things had already come to this, who the hell cared about their student status anymore? Nothing to be scared of in smoking a cigarette now—might even lose their lives later.
"Alright then, Boss, we’ll have one." Liu Tao and Chen Gang both nodded.
Lin Mu took out his cigarettes and handed them one each, and the three of them started smoking together.
Principal Zhang was still looking at Lin Mu with that same arrogant swagger, but didn’t say a word. He was waiting—for Young Master Jin’s people to arrive. Once they got here, he’d dare to talk. Right now, with no one beside him, shooting his mouth off would only earn him another beating.
Another ten minutes or so later, a black Passat sedan sped into the campus. Heavy metal music was blasting inside the car, the windows were down, and you could clearly see a few young guys with buzz cuts sitting inside. The car drove onto the playground and stopped at the edge of the crowd.
When Principal Zhang saw who it was, his eyes lit up. Clearly, he knew his backup had arrived.
"Brother Sheng, you came at just the right time!" Principal Zhang pushed through the crowd and ran out to greet them with a big smile.
"Yeah, Young Master Jin called and said you were in trouble, so he told me to come take a look." Ah Sheng nodded, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, but his expression looked pretty sour. That was because yesterday, when he’d gone out to chop someone, he didn’t gain any advantage at all and had even gotten knocked out. Luckily it wasn’t too serious, otherwise he’d be lying in a hospital bed today.
"Brother Sheng, I’m counting on you this time. Those punks actually dared to beat up the principal! They’re practically trying to rebel!" Principal Zhang pointed at his bruised and swollen face and complained.
"Got it. I’ll help you vent this anger in a bit. Come on, I’ll go meet him right now!" Ah Sheng said.
"He’s inside, inside." Principal Zhang said, then led Ah Sheng toward the crowd. There were so many students watching that some of them stepped aside to form a path so Principal Zhang and Ah Sheng could walk into the middle.
At this moment Principal Zhang’s nose was practically pointing at the sky with arrogance. Once he got inside, he started cursing at Lin Mu, "Kid, my people are here. If you’ve got the guts, keep acting cocky now!"
Right then Liu Tao and Chen Gang didn’t dare say a word. As students, they clearly couldn’t afford to offend these street thugs. But they also didn’t back down; they stood behind Lin Mu, as if they were already ready to fight alongside him.
Lin Mu blew out a puff of smoke and looked at Principal Zhang with a grin, but he also recognized the guy behind him, Ah Sheng. He was the one who’d blocked his way yesterday. What a coincidence.
Ah Sheng obviously noticed Lin Mu too. What had happened yesterday was still fresh in his mind. They had been knocked out by this guy’s underlings. As the saying goes, enemies meeting only stoke the flames of hatred, but right now Ah Sheng’s eyes weren’t bloodshot—they were trembling. Because they were totally not this guy’s match. The scene from last night was still vivid for him: the moment the opponent made a move, they were completely routed. It was downright brutal.
Principal Zhang was still glaring at Lin Mu arrogantly, jabbing his finger at him as he cursed, "Kid, open your damn eyes and see where you are, whose turf this is. On my patch, you still dare show off? Let me tell you, there are plenty of big shots around here, got it? You know who this little brother behind me is? If I say it, you’ll piss your damn pants..."
Principal Zhang’s bragging was loud and nonstop, hyping Ah Sheng up to the heavens, and he himself seemed to be basking in the reflected glory, like he’d already got Lin Mu completely handled. But while Principal Zhang was boasting, everyone around couldn’t help bursting into laughter.
Principal Zhang had no idea the students around were laughing at him; he thought they were laughing at Lin Mu, so he just kept bragging. After bragging for a good three or four minutes, he finally shut up when he’d sprayed out all his saliva.
"Brother Sheng, today we’re gonna..." Principal Zhang turned his head as he spoke, and suddenly realized Ah Sheng and all his bros behind him were already gone.
"Hahahaha!" Even Liu Tao and Chen Gang couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing.
Principal Zhang froze, then looked left and right. "Brother Sheng, where did you go?"
"They left a long time ago." The surrounding students started chiming in.
