Chapter 1225: Chapter 1240: Man Luo’s Departure
Of course, when women go shopping, they’re not acting like normal human beings. Otherwise, why would someone browse the same clothing store several times without buying anything?
An Qi’Er, upon hearing this, flashed a charming smile, "Really, Brother Lin, I absolutely love you! It’s been ages since I’ve gone shopping. I’d like you to accompany me for a shopping spree..."
"Uh..." Lin Mu could only feel resigned. Whatever he feared had ultimately come true. But what could he do? Just go with it. After all, it’s worth it for a beautiful woman. At this moment, Lin Mu increasingly realized that as a man, he was really good to women. He even unhesitatingly stood by to accompany them on a tortuous shopping trip, which was nothing short of cruel! Lin Mu felt like he was risking his life shopping, and for a moment, he felt so noble that he was almost moved to tears by his own passion!
"Alright, no problem." Lin Mu grinned. Since he had to go eventually, there was no dodging it. After all, women must go shopping, right? So he had to act positively, even if it meant going out with a bang. It’s just a shopping trip, isn’t it? He could afford it, at the expense of these worn-out legs if need be!
"Brother Lin, I love you so much." An Qi’Er leaned in and gave Lin Mu a kiss, which made him feel less at a loss. After all, when a beautiful girl rewards you with a kiss, it’s worth even going to the gallows!
After dinner, Lin Mu drove An Qi’Er to the mall. Lin Mu felt the full experience of accompanying a girl during her shopping spree, knowing it was definitely not a pleasant one. However, there was no helping it, and the two of them linked arms and strolled around together.
An hour passed, and An Qi’Er hadn’t found anything she liked, yet she showed no sign of fatigue. Meanwhile, Lin Mu was already exhausted, with his legs protesting. It’s strange, while women get out of breath with just a little exercise when fighting, Lin Mu could take on dozens without breaking a sweat.
In retrospect, it’s understandable. Women are naturally born for malls and matters of the heart, while men are born for the battlefield!
Indeed, girls are all the same when it comes to shopping — browsing without buying, or making several rounds before purchasing something. In industry terms, it’s called comparing prices. An Qi’Er was no exception. However, Lin Mu stubbornly refused to accept this logic. He would rather believe it was an ultimate test by women for the men beside them. Despite being distressed internally, Lin Mu still pretended to be happy on the outside.
"Brother Lin, are you tired?" An Qi’Er asked considerately.
"Hehe, not tired..." and then two words were automatically omitted, "not really..."
After two hours, An Qi’Er still hadn’t bought much, which further confirmed Lin Mu’s belief that women definitely don’t belong to normal human beings when shopping.
About three hours into their trip, An Qi’Er finally decided on her purchases. Just then, Lin Mu’s phone rang. He was quite annoyed, hoping there wasn’t anything important, considering he had just emerged from a difficult ordeal and hadn’t had a chance to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Lin Mu glanced at the phone number; to his surprise, it was from Man Luo. Hastily, he found an excuse to step away, and answered the call from a corner. "Hey, girl," Lin Mu asked with a cheerful undertone, "miss me?"
"Don’t flatter yourself. Where are you?" Man Luo inquired.
"At the mall. What’s up?" Lin Mu queried.
"I’m leaving Wancheng tonight." Man Luo said dispassionately.
"Leaving Wancheng? Why?" Lin Mu furrowed his brows involuntarily.
"No reason. I just accepted a job, which means I have to leave." Man Luo stated.
"How much?" Lin Mu asked.
"Ten million, to kill someone." Man Luo said, seemingly reverting to her icy demeanor.
"Ten million, huh? Alright, I’ll give you a hundred million if you stay, accompany me, alright?" Lin Mu proposed.
After pondering for a while, Man Luo finally responded firmly, "I don’t want your money. I have to leave here!"
"But don’t you need a reason?" Lin Mu questioned.
"As I said, I took a job, so I have to leave." Man Luo’s tone turned exceptionally icy.
"If you’re short on money, I can give you some. Why go?" Lin Mu was puzzled. Everything seemed fine, so why did the assassin girl decide to leave? It was quite frustrating.
"No reason. I’m already at the airport. If possible, I will return. That’s it." Man Luo said and then hung up.
Just as Lin Mu wanted to speak, the phone emitted busy tones, indicating that Man Luo had already hung up. When he called back, an automated message said the phone was turned off.
At this time, Lin Mu was quite frustrated. Why did Man Luo leave so suddenly? Was it not meant for her to stay at the Lin Family Mansion and interact with the girls there?
However, given she was already at the airport and her phone was off, it was evident she was resolute in her decision. Those who need to leave will leave; forcing someone to stay is impossible. You might hold them back temporarily, but not forever.
"Brother Lin, what’s the matter?" An Qi’Er came over and asked, eyeing Lin Mu.
Hastily, Lin Mu put away his phone, faking a laugh to mask his emotions. "It’s nothing, let’s go."
Lin Mu and An Qi’Er left the mall together. Lin Mu gently suggested, "An Qi’Er, you shouldn’t live alone outside anymore. Would you like to move in with me? We’ve already established our relationship."
An Qi’Er mulled it over, then said, "I think it’d be better if I stayed where I am since it’s closer to school and more convenient. Besides, I’m used to living alone and might not adjust well to having many people around."
Lin Mu thought for a moment, then nodded, "Alright, but if you ever get tired of it and want to move, let me know. There’s plenty of space at my place, and you’re welcome anytime!"
"Yes, I know." An Qi’Er nodded and then looked at Lin Mu again, "Brother Lin, why do you seem unhappy?"
"Hehe, really? Hmm, I’m fine." Lin Mu said with a smile.
"Oh..." An Qi’Er nodded. Though she wasn’t sure what was going on, she roughly guessed it was related to the phone call he just received.
Meanwhile, at Wancheng Airport, after hanging up, tears streamed down Man Luo’s face for the first time over a man. The reason she gave Lin Mu for leaving Wancheng was completely made up. Yet she still wanted to leave, feeling like she never truly belonged there — not before, and not in the future.
"Sister Manluo." At this moment, Qing’Er called out and approached.
