Chapter 1222: Chapter 1237: Is the School Beauty Angry?
"Uh... Little girl, you’re not jealous, are you?" Lin Mu was puzzled.
"I’m not jealous. If I were going to be jealous, I would have been a long time ago," Xiong Xiaoxiao said. Then she added, "What I wanted to say is that yesterday Teacher An was inquiring about you with me. She always thought I was your sister."
"Uh..." Lin Mu was really frustrated. He’d forgotten all about it until Xiong Xiaoxiao mentioned it. Thinking back to when he first met An Qi’Er, it was because he went to a parent-teacher meeting for Xiong Xiaoxiao, pretending to be her brother. Now, how was he supposed to explain this?
"What did she ask about?" Lin Mu asked again.
"Actually, she didn’t ask much, just chatted about you, saying you’re a good person and stuff. I could tell you two are in love. When Teacher An talked about you, her face was filled with happiness," Xiong Xiaoxiao giggled.
"Did you tell her you weren’t my sister?" Lin Mu asked.
"I didn’t say that, and I didn’t have the courage to. You should go explain to Teacher An yourself." Xiong Xiaoxiao shrugged.
Lin Mu scratched his head and then said to Xiaoxiao, "Hey, Xiaoxiao, how do I usually treat you?"
"Hm?" Xiong Xiaoxiao was about to nod, but then she seemed to see through Lin Mu’s intentions and quickly shook her head, "Not good at all, so don’t make me explain to Teacher An. I don’t know how to explain."
"Hey, Xiaoxiao, come on, don’t forget, your brother has helped you out a lot before," Lin Mu grinned.
"No way."
"Xiaoxiao, you’re the best."
"No matter what, I’m not going." Xiong Xiaoxiao was firm in her stance.
"How about this, you help your brother this one time, and no matter what you ask for in the future, as long as your brother can do it, he will. Is that okay?" Lin Mu said.
Xiong Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up, "Are you serious?"
"Of course, I am. When have I ever lied to you?" Lin Mu said.
"Hah, you lie to me all the time."
"Uh... I promise I won’t this time. I swear, I’ll keep my word," Lin Mu vowed.
"You said it, no backing out."
"Don’t worry, I won’t go back on my word," Lin Mu promised.
"Alright then, I’ll agree to it," Xiong Xiaoxiao nodded.
"Hey, Xiaoxiao, you’re the best. Come, let your brother give you a kiss," Lin Mu leaned in towards Xiong Xiaoxiao to give her a kiss.
But the little girl dodged it, "Brother Lin is so naughty. I won’t let you kiss me, hmph!"
"Uh... you’re such a clever little girl," Lin Mu felt helpless.
Just then, Lin Mu’s phone rang.
Lin Mu glanced at the incoming call. Why was it always this way that whoever they talked about would just call him?
The caller was An Qi’Er.
"Hey, An Qi’Er," Lin Mu said with a smile.
"Hey boss, are you free today? I don’t have classes today," An Qi’Er said gently.
Lin Mu thought about it. Although he really wanted to go out with An Qi’Er, he still needed to resolve this issue with Xiong Xiaoxiao, so he had no choice but to politely decline.
"Uh, An Qi’Er, I’m sorry, I have some things to take care of right now. How about I call you when I’m free?" Lin Mu said apologetically.
"Okay, we’ll meet when you’re free then," An Qi’Er, though disappointed, wasn’t upset.
Lin Mu chatted a bit more with An Qi’Er before hanging up the phone.
After hanging up, Lin Mu patted Xiong Xiaoxiao’s shoulder, "Xiaoxiao, this tough task is all yours now."
"Okay, but remember what you promised," Xiong Xiaoxiao said.
"Don’t worry, I will remember."
"Alright, I’ll go find Teacher An and explain everything, then call you once it’s done," Xiong Xiaoxiao said.
"Alright, it’s all up to you."
Xiong Xiaoxiao left the Lin Family Mansion and headed to find An Qi’Er while Lin Mu had no choice but to wait at the mansion. Two hours later, Lin Mu’s phone rang; it was Xiong Xiaoxiao calling.
"Hey, Xiaoxiao, how did it go?" Lin Mu couldn’t wait to ask.
"Boss, Teacher An is mad," Xiong Xiaoxiao said in a very downcast tone.
"Mad? Teacher An isn’t that kind of person," Lin Mu said, frustrated.
"Well, you know, Teacher An got tricked by a man once before, so she’s particularly sensitive. And when she heard what I said, she got really angry. She said she thought you were different from other men, but now she feels you’re no different from those dog-like men," Xiong Xiaoxiao explained.
Lin Mu was really frustrated now. It had been so hard to find such a wonderful woman, and now it had turned out like this.
"Where are you right now?" Lin Mu asked.
"I ran to the coffee shop restroom to make this call," Xiong Xiaoxiao explained.
"Where is An Qi’Er?" Lin Mu asked.
"She’s at Shang Dao Cafe, sitting alone and sulking. She wanted me to go to a bar with her to drink, but I said I was too young for that, so I didn’t go," Xiong Xiaoxiao explained.
"Okay, wait for me there, I’ll be right over. Just don’t let her leave!" Lin Mu instructed.
"Alright, hurry up. I’ll try to stall her, but if you’re late, I can’t help it," Xiong Xiaoxiao said.
"Okay, I’ll be right there."
Lin Mu hung up the phone and drove off to Shang Dao Cafe. On the way, he stopped by a flower shop and bought a bouquet of roses. Women love flowers, and they are the best way to apologize. The whole situation made Lin Mu quite frustrated; he didn’t expect An Qi’Er to get mad over such a small misunderstanding.
Armed with a bouquet of the most beautiful red roses, Lin Mu arrived at the cafe. As he got out of the car, he immediately spotted Xiong Xiaoxiao sitting by the window inside. An Qi’Er was sipping coffee and reading a magazine. Xiong Xiaoxiao waved at Lin Mu from inside.
Lin Mu nodded, holding the roses, he walked inside and gently approached An Qi’Er. Thanks to the women in his family, Lin Mu had a decent understanding of women. A critical tactic with angry women is to not let them speak first; the man must apologize and admit fault before they get a word in.
So just as An Qi’Er was about to speak, Lin Mu quickly interjected, "An Qi’Er, this is my fault. Please don’t be mad. I was only attending the parent-teacher meeting on Xiaoxiao’s behalf, which is why I came up with that idea. You should understand. I know you’ve been deceived before and are very sensitive, but that was really not my intention. I just didn’t have a chance to explain it to you. It’s all my fault, so please forgive me. You can’t leave me! If you leave me, I seriously won’t be able to go on living!" Lin Mu said earnestly, holding the roses.
Women, especially angry ones, are often auditory creatures, easily swayed by men’s soft words. So if a man is willing to apologize and say nice things, most small tempers tend to extinguish on their own.
