Chapter 1213: Chapter 1228: Picking a Fight
Of course, if Lin Mu wanted to ditch them, it would be a piece of cake. But Lin Mu had no intention of shaking them off; he wanted to find a deserted place to give them a good beating, to show them who’s boss. Otherwise, they’d never know their place.
Lin Mu drove his car all the way to the outskirts, far from the city, and parked under a bridge on the highway, with the Mercedes behind him slowly coming to a stop as well, without any attempt to conceal themselves. Lin Mu opened the car door and got out.
The doors of the Mercedes opened as well, and Fang Zhongxin and Tang Wu stepped out from the back. Two young men who appeared to be their bodyguards-cum-drivers also got out from the driver’s and front passenger’s seats. The two bodyguards dressed in suits looked quite professional.
After the bodyguards got out, they intentionally or unintentionally stood beside Fang Zhongxin and Tang Wu, while Tang Wu took the lead, walking toward Lin Mu.
"Since the police won’t handle this, we’ll deal with you in our own way," Tang Wu said coldly, looking at Lin Mu.
"Heh." Lin Mu laughed nonchalantly, then looked at Tang Wu with a smile, "Do you know why I parked here?"
"Why?"
"Because there are fewer people here, so no one will intervene when I beat you up!"
"Oh, really? Too bad there are four of us, and only one of you." Tang Wu clearly didn’t think much of Lin Mu. Even he could make Fang Zhongxin look like a fool, so he didn’t see Lin Mu as anything special.
"Heh heh, perfect, I love taking on multiple opponents!" Lin Mu chuckled, then pointed to the two bodyguards behind them, "If I fight you one-on-one, you’re all too weak! Forget it, all three of you come at me together. That’ll save time; I value my time as much as my life and hate wasting it."
"What a big mouth, take him down for me," Tang Wu said disdainfully of Lin Mu’s arrogance, and ordered the two bodyguards behind him.
The two bodyguards, hearing Tang Wu’s order, immediately leapt forward. At a glance, their speed was incredibly fast, and with their broad shoulders and imposing statures, they looked menacing. An average person would be terrified at the sight, but unfortunately, Lin Mu wasn’t your average person.
Just as the two bodyguards reached Lin Mu, he suddenly exploded into action, leaping into the air, both legs swinging like iron rods into the bodyguards. In the next second, the two bodyguards flew backward like leaves in the wind, with two thuds as they crashed into the opposite wall and slid to the ground, crying out in pain, noses and mouths bleeding, bones nearly shattered.
"I told you, if I make a move, you won’t even have a chance to react." Lin Mu clapped his hands with a smile. These two bodyguards were pitifully lacking in skill, not up to Lin Mu’s standards at all.
Tang Wu, seeing Lin Mu’s formidable skills, was taken aback. Clearly, given the circumstances, he stood no chance of defeating Lin Mu. But now, not winning wasn’t an option; he had to fight, "Come on, let’s see what you’ve got," Lin Mu beckoned to Tang Wu.
Tang Wu looked at Lin Mu, snorted, and charged at him with gritted teeth. As Tang Wu rushed forward like lightning, Lin Mu easily sidestepped and kicked at Tang Wu. Although Tang Wu’s punch was full of momentum, it didn’t connect with Lin Mu. Even the best stance is useless if it doesn’t hit. Facing Lin Mu’s spinning kick, Tang Wu barely dodged, struggling. Then the two exerted force together, attacking Lin Mu.
"Not fun, I’m done playing with you," Lin Mu said, then threw a punch.
This time, instead of dodging, Lin Mu punched against Tang Wu’s fist directly.
With a loud thud, Tang Wu felt a burst of sharp pain and numbness in his arm, sending him flying backward, while Lin Mu remained standing firmly in place.
The punch had left Tang Wu in discomfort; clutching his arm, waves of stabbing pain coursed through it, making it unbearable. Tang Wu was in such a state that he clearly had no more fight left.
"Your skills are impressive, I admire them. If you’re willing, I’m prepared to offer an annual salary of ten million to hire you as my bodyguard," Tang Wu said, looking at Lin Mu. Lin Mu’s display of strength had far exceeded Tang Wu’s expectations. Let alone by himself, even facing a dozen men, he might not stand a chance against him.
Lin Mu laughed at Tang Wu’s words, "You want me to be your bodyguard? Do you even know who I am?"
As it turned out, Tang Wu indeed didn’t know Lin Mu’s name. Even Fang Zhongxin didn’t know; they only knew Lin Mu was An Qi’Er’s boyfriend, not his actual name.
"With such skills, you must have a reputation in the underground world. Who might you be?" Tang Wu asked, looking at Lin Mu.
"Nothing big, but I have a bit of a name in Wancheng. My name’s Lin Mu," Lin Mu said with a smile, spreading his hands.
"Lin... Mu? Lin Mu from the Flying Dragon Gang?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Wu was shocked, as was Fang Zhongxin. With their status, they certainly had heard of Lin Mu. Anyone with standing in Wancheng had heard of him, and they never expected a guy who looked this shabby to be Lin Mu.
"Yes, I am Lin Mu. Surprised?" Lin Mu said with a grin.
"Haha, so you’re the famous Boss Lin. My apologies!" Tang Wu quickly smiled and said.
"Apologies for what? I don’t even know you guys!" Lin Mu waved his hand dismissively, having no good impression of these rich heirs.
Tang Wu and Fang Zhongxin finally understood why at the police station they didn’t dare to act against Lin Mu. With Lin Mu’s prowess, how could the police dare make a move? They also heard that the Chief of Public Security, Qi Manlin, was Lin Mu’s ally.
So in Wancheng, especially on the Flying Dragon Sect’s turf, no force could act recklessly. Even the mightiest cannot outmatch the local powers easily, especially since Lin Mu himself is a true powerhouse. Picking a fight with him would just be asking for trouble.
"Now that we know, pardon us, we’ll be leaving," Tang Wu knew if they continued to linger, nothing good would come of it. On someone else’s turf, they better behave, so he wanted to leave the scene quickly.
"Wait a moment."
Just as Tang Wu and Fang Zhongxin were about to leave, Lin Mu stopped them. Tang Wu turned back, glared at Lin Mu, and smiled, "Boss Lin, anything else?"
"Letting you walk away just like that would make me lose face, wouldn’t it?" Lin Mu said to Tang Wu with a smile.
