Chapter 586: Arcadia, The First Planet In All Creation (LXIII)
"Fuuh..:"
Swoop!
Aestrea slashed with the Midnight Sword in a fast series of strikes, trying to overwhelm the guardian’s defense.
The blade cut deep into its arm, but the guardian immediately countered with the spear, thrusting it forward with pinpoint accuracy.
The tip pierced Aestrea’s side, drawing more blood as it grazed his ribs.
He pulled back, blood seeping from the new wound. The guardian pressed the advantage, swinging the war hammer in a powerful overhead strike.
Aestrea dodged to the side, but the edge of the hammer clipped his leg, sending a sharp pain up his thigh.
Aestrea’s eyes narrowed coldly.
He had had enough of this drawn-out fight.
The guardian was adapting too quickly, its mechanical learning making it a frustrating opponent. He decided to end it with something more decisive.
He channeled the Authority of Destruction, pouring the conceptual power into his blades.
The air around him darkened as black-and-white energy swirled violently.
He raised both swords and unleashed a devastating wave of pure destructive force, aiming to erase the guardian from existence in one strike.
The wave surged forward, a swirling storm of annihilation that should have disintegrated everything in its path.
But the guardian reacted instantly.
Its six red eyes glowed brighter as it raised all six arms. A soft, golden light erupted from its body, the Authority of Life.
BOOOOOOOOM!
The two opposing authorities clashed in the center of the chamber.
The destructive wave met the life energy in a cataclysmic explosion.
The guardian’s Authority of Life countered Aestrea’s Destruction perfectly, neutralizing the attack and even pushing back with regenerative force.
The black energy of destruction was absorbed and converted into golden light, healing some of the guardian’s wounds almost instantly.
Aestrea’s eyes widened slightly in surprise.
The guardian roared, its voice booming through the chamber.
"You are not the only one with authority here, mortal!"
It charged forward, its movements faster and stronger now that it had revealed its own power.
The greatsword swung in a wide arc, infused with golden life energy that made the blade glow.
CLAANG!
Aestrea parried with the Midnight Sword, the impact sending him skidding back several steps.
The guardian didn’t stop. It followed up with the spear, thrusting it forward with pinpoint accuracy.
Aestrea dodged to the side, but the spear grazed his arm, the life energy in the tip causing the wound to burn painfully before it tried to heal itself in reverse, forcing the injury to stay open longer.
Aestrea countered with the Heaven Swallowing Sword, aiming to drain the guardian’s new power.
The blade stabbed into the construct’s side, but the Authority of Life resisted, the golden energy pushing back against the draining effect.
The guardian swung its mace in response, the spiked head smashing into Aestrea’s shoulder.
"Kurgh..."
He grunted in pain as the impact sent him flying back, crashing into the chamber wall.
THUMP!
He landed on his feet, blood dripping from multiple wounds.
The guardian was adapting even faster now, its life authority making it more resilient and its learning ability making its attacks more unpredictable.
Aestrea wiped blood from his mouth, his eyes cold as he raised both swords again.
And so, the battle continued on with Aestrea getting increasingly annoyed and almost hopeless.
Every feint he tried, every new angle of attack, the guardian countered with almost perfect precision.
Its Authority of Life kept healing its wounds almost as quickly as he could inflict them, while its six arms moved in increasingly complex, lethal patterns.
The guardian swung its greatsword in a powerful horizontal arc, the blade glowing with golden life energy.
Aestrea raised the Midnight Sword to parry, the impact ringing out with a loud bang that sent him skidding back several steps.
The force was immense, far heavier than before.
The guardian was growing stronger with every passing exchange.
Aestrea’s eyes narrowed.
He had been testing the guardian for too long. It was learning his every move, predicting his patterns with frightening accuracy.
If he didn’t end this soon, the construct would eventually overwhelm him.
He needed to finish it and quickly!
Aestrea tightened his grip on both swords and charged forward one last time.
The Heaven Swallowing Sword in his left hand and the Midnight Sword in his right flashed as he unleashed a relentless barrage of strikes.
He feinted high with the Midnight Sword, then thrust low with the Heaven Swallowing Sword.
The guardian blocked the feint with its shield and twisted its body to avoid the thrust, countering with the spear in a lightning-fast stab.
Aestrea twisted at the last second.
The spear grazed his side, tearing another wound open. Blood sprayed across the arena floor.
Pain flared hot and sharp, but he didn’t slow down.
He spun on his heel and slashed upward with the Midnight Sword, the blade carving deep into the guardian’s forearm.
Claaank!
Sparks flew as runes on the construct’s armor flickered.
The guardian roared and brought its greatsword down in a crushing overhead strike. Aestrea raised both swords in a cross-block.
The impact was massive.
BOOOOOOM!
The force drove him to one knee, the stone floor cracking beneath him. His arms trembled from the sheer power behind the blow.
The guardian pressed forward without mercy. It swung the war hammer from the side with its lower left arm, the massive head aimed at Aestrea’s ribs.
He rolled backward at the last moment, the hammer smashing into the floor with another thunderous boom that sent debris flying.
Aestrea came up fast, thrusting the Heaven Swallowing Sword forward. The blade pierced the guardian’s side, draining more of its power.
Black energy sparked wildly from the wound. But the guardian’s Authority of Life flared brighter, pushing back against the drain and healing the damage almost instantly.
The construct retaliated with all six arms moving at once.
The axe, curved blade, mace, spear, jagged sword, and greatsword came at Aestrea from every angle in a storm of steel and golden energy.
Aestrea danced between the attacks, parrying what he could and dodging the rest.
The Midnight Sword clashed against the axe with a sharp clang, while the Heaven Swallowing Sword deflected the mace.
He ducked under the spear and twisted away from the jagged sword, but the greatsword caught him across the back in a shallow but painful cut.
Blood ran down his spine as he gritted his teeth.
The guardian was relentless.
It stepped forward, its six red eyes locked onto Aestrea with mechanical focus. It raised the greatsword high for another devastating overhead strike.
Aestrea saw his opening.
Instead of dodging, he stepped directly into the attack.
The greatsword came down with terrifying force; the glowing blade aimed straight for his stomach.
Aestrea didn’t move aside, and instead, he braced himself, planting his feet firmly on the cracked stone floor.
The greatsword struck him full force.
BOOOOOOM!
The blade slammed into his stomach with crushing power. Aestrea’s eyes widened as pain exploded through his body.
The force drove him backward several steps, the edge biting deep into his flesh.
Drip...
Blood poured from the wound, soaking his clothes and dripping onto the floor. His legs trembled from the sheer impact, and for a split second, his vision blurred.
But he didn’t fall.
He used the momentum of the strike, letting the greatsword push him back just enough to create the perfect angle.
"FUCKIND DIEEEE!"
He drove both swords forward in a final, devastating double thrust, straight into the guardian’s exposed core.
The Midnight Sword pierced through the construct’s chest plate, while the Heaven Swallowing Sword stabbed deep into its side, draining every last bit of its power in one massive surge.
The guardian froze.
Its six red eyes flickered violently.
The golden light of its Authority of Life sputtered and dimmed as the Heaven Swallowing Sword greedily devoured the last of its energy.
Cracks spread across its dark metal body as the runes on its armor shattered one by one.
Aestrea pushed both swords deeper, twisting them with a final burst of strength. Blood from his own stomach wound mixed with the black energy leaking from the guardian.
The construct let out one last, mechanical groan.
Its arms went limp, the weapons clattering to the floor. The greatsword, still embedded in Aestrea’s stomach, was the only thing keeping him upright for a moment.
THUUUD!
With a final, shuddering collapse, the guardian fell to its knees and then toppled forward, its massive body hitting the arena floor.
The golden light in its eyes faded completely.
Aestrea stood over the fallen construct, both swords still buried in its chest.
"Haahhg... fuuh... phew..."
His own stomach wound bled heavily, but he remained standing, breathing heavily through the pain.
The sixth tower’s guardian had finally been defeated.
He slowly pulled his swords free, the blades dripping with black energy and blood.
Gurrghh...
The greatsword slid from his stomach with a wet, painful sound. He staggered back a step, one hand pressing against the deep wound as he caught his breath.
