Chapter 1140: Chapter 1140: Extra – Retirement Arc

Time travel?

Nian Shutong didn’t immediately dismiss Rubble’s suggestion but gave it serious thought instead.

After the gathering, Nian Shutong and Fu Yunhe discussed for a bit and then went together to find Rubble.

"Rubble, we want to take a look at ancient Earth."

"Alright."

Rubble didn’t have any objections and began setting the coordinates for the two of them.

"Don’t do anything beyond this dimension, such as using Spiritual Power."

Rubble laid out several guidelines, and Nian Shutong and Fu Yunhe remembered them. Then, under Rubble’s arrangement, they boarded his time travel machine.

A gentle white light flashed, and Nian Shutong and Fu Yunhe disappeared into the machine.

The two kept their hands tightly clasped together, and scenes before their eyes seemed like a long river of history, with rebirth and destruction, vitality and hope, flashing in front of them.

After an unknown amount of time, they finally felt grounded, and looked up to see their surroundings.

The smell was somewhat strong.

Who knows how Rubble set the coordinates, as now the two found themselves in a super large garbage dump, likely a large waste processing plant.

"It really is a smelly leap through time."

Nian Shutong hadn’t finished complaining when Fu Yunhe pulled her up. They chose a direction and walked out together. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

After leaving the waste processing plant, they looked at the scene in front of them—cars, trucks, garbage trucks, the people’s attire, and the way they spoke. It was still alright, not needing too much adaptation.

"I’ll gather some information."

Fu Yunhe’s Light Computer swiftly gathered information, and the two of them learned a bit together.

"So... we don’t have ID cards; we’re off-the-books."

"Luckily, with digitalization now, getting a cellphone can temporarily solve the ID issue. Later on, we can handle it, no problem with the system."

If Fu Yunhe says there’s no problem, then there naturally isn’t.

Next, the two rummaged through their storage rings, looking for something to use for money.

Eventually, they settled on a stone, known here as a diamond, which was very valuable.

But because of their lack of identity, they naturally took a somewhat shady route.

After using some minor disguising spells, they finally managed to successfully trade the diamond for thirteen million in cash.

Yes, cash.

Without a phone, ID card, or bank card, they were left only with the option of cash.

The first thing they did with the cash was buy cellphones. They also contacted someone to get certificates, and after obtaining them, Fu Yunhe operated a bit, and the two immediately became people with IDs.

They didn’t buy a house, just wanted to see what this world was like, so with thirteen million, they began staying in hotels, dining out, and traveling.

Whenever they ran out of money and hadn’t had enough fun, they could sell a bit more; once satisfied, they’d return to Blue Star.

They excelled at living lavishly with money.

Nian Shutong was quite interested in certain places, and the first place they wanted to visit was Taishan.

Once decided, they went.

However, when they reached the foot of Taishan, they were dumbfounded.

Why are there so many people?

Even Master Fan with his steamed dumplings wasn’t this crowded.

"Fu Yunhe?"

"On it."

Fu Yunhe checked and found that it was the National Day Golden Week, when everyone was out traveling. The two had just arrived and didn’t notice this detail.

But since they were already here, and with more people pouring in, their only option besides flying out was to climb step by step. Yet they had promised Rubble not to use Mana recklessly.

In the end, amidst tens of thousands climbing the mountain, they trudged step by step upwards.

Finally reaching the summit, intending to watch the sunrise, what lay before them was a sea of brightly colored hats.

"Get up."

Fu Yunhe held Nian Shutong by the waist, lifting her slightly so she sat on his shoulders. They stood in the back, not blocking anyone’s view.

A nearby young couple saw them and the girl playfully punched her boyfriend.

The boyfriend looked at Nian Shutong and Fu Yunhe, then at his own 140-pound girlfriend and felt helpless.

"Baby, we shouldn’t envy him."

The boy’s words made the girl laugh.

Even Nian Shutong in the back was amused.

"The sunrise!"

"The sun’s rising!"

"My phone! Quick, quick!"

Everyone pulled out their phones, ready to photograph, while Nian Shutong calmly and seriously gazed at it.

Beautiful, undoubtedly.

Such beauty, yet for various reasons, was buried for countless years.

After watching the sunrise, Nian Shutong dismounted from Fu Yunhe’s shoulders, looking at the similar crowd, dense, realizing that descending would still be a battle.

Of course, the two’s physical condition was impeccable, but this challenging process hadn’t been experienced in ages.

So when they finally descended, their calves were slightly sore, but seeing many wobbling couldn’t walk steadily, it seemed fine.

Indeed, happiness is relative.

After coming down from Taishan, they intended to catch a taxi to leave, but with such a crowd, none appeared. As for driving a private car, it wasn’t ideal either; the parked cars snaked in long lines at the exit.

"How about grabbing a bite?"

"Sounds good."

When the two reached a nearby restaurant, they exchanged glances—isn’t there too many people?

Even outside, it was packed with those waiting for a seat.

Eventually, the two simply sat on the sidewalk, using their backpack as cover, pulling out two corn cobs and two sandwiches, along with two cups of juice from their space.

As they ate, a little girl about three years old approached, her eyes fixated keenly on the corn in their hands.

"You like it?"

Nian Shutong asked the little girl, who nodded, pointing at the corn and saying in a sweet, sticky voice: "Sweet."

Indeed, this was sweet corn from Blue Star.

Though unfamiliar with the place, Nian Shutong knew not to casually give food to a little girl, so she awkwardly looked at the girl, then quickly spotted a woman running over.

"Beibei, don’t wander off."

"Is she your daughter?"

Nian Shutong inquired, and the woman nodded. Beibei the little girl, seeing the woman, grinned and said: "Mama, the corn is sweet."

The woman apologetically spoke to Nian Shutong.

"Sorry, she didn’t mean it."

"Beibei, we shouldn’t ask strangers for food, that’s not okay."

The girl’s mother sternly scolded her. Beibei pouted, reluctantly stealing one last look at the corn, then clung to her mother’s neck, burying her face, resisting looking anymore.
