Chapter 786: Chapter 787: Like i said before those are the most adorable babies I have ever seen

He had not rested properly. His body was still tired. His arm was wrapped where Isabella had bitten him, and his face still had a slight paleness to it. But the moment it came to caring for Isabella, he looked like he had forgotten how to be weak.

Zyran, on the other hand, looked shamelessly happy.

He had survived the night. Isabella had survived. The children had survived. The attack had ended. The whole world could be bleeding outside, and this man could still sit there looking at Isabella as if the morning had personally been made for him.

Isabella swallowed and said, "If you two are going to fight over the spoon, at least make sure the food keeps coming."

Zyran smiled. "See? She supports me."

Cyrus looked at him. "She supports eating."

"That is close enough."

Osiris, who had finally been allowed into the room after washing off most of the blood and smoke from the battle, sat near the side and stared at the babies with the expression of a man trying very hard to understand newborns.

Luca was there too.

This was the first time he had actually seen them.

He had heard the news during the attack. He had fought near the inner stairs while the cries reached him. He had known three babies had been born. But knowing was very different from standing in the room and seeing three tiny horned snake babies wrapped in soft cloths near Isabella’s side.

Luca stared for a long time.

Then he said carefully, "They are... very small."

Shelia, who was sitting beside Ophelia, gave him a warning look.

Luca immediately added, "In a good way."

Osiris leaned closer to look. "Why do they look angry?"

Isabella turned her head slowly toward him.

Osiris did not notice the danger at first because he was still studying the babies. "The first boy looks like he wants to fight someone. The second one looks like he already fought someone and lost. The girl looks quiet, but that makes her more suspicious."

Ophelia gasped softly. "Osiris."

He looked at her. "What? I said she looks suspicious in a good way."

Valen, who stood behind Ophelia with one hand resting gently on her shoulder, lowered his gaze as if he was trying not to react.

Shelia pressed her lips together. "You should stop speaking."

Osiris frowned. "Why does everyone keep saying that?"

"Because you keep giving us reasons," Luca muttered.

Osiris turned to him. "You said they were small."

"I said it politely."

"No, you said it like you were afraid they could hear you."

Luca looked at the babies again and lowered his voice. "Can they?"

Zyran actually laughed under his breath.

Isabella, who had been trying to look offended on behalf of her babies, looked down at them again.

They were not the prettiest-looking newborns in the world.

She could admit that somewhere deep, deep inside herself where no one else would ever hear it.

They were tiny and wrinkled. Their little snake bodies were curled in awkward ways. Their horns were soft and strange. Their eyes were not open yet, and their mouths kept moving like they were upset at being born. But the longer Isabella looked at them, the cuter they became. It was like her heart kept adding beauty to them with every breath.

By the time she had stared at them for a while, she was fully convinced.

They were perfect.

The most beautiful babies in the world.

Zyran leaned forward and looked at them again.

"Those are the most..." he began.

Shelia’s foot came down on his.

Hard.

Zyran’s face changed at once, but he forced himself not to make too much noise.

"What?" he asked, voice tight.

Shelia looked at him. "Finish that sentence wisely."

Isabella’s eyes narrowed. "What were you going to say again?"

Zyran looked at Isabella.

Then at Cyrus.

Then at the three newborn babies who definitely did not look like they would win a beauty contest yet.

Then back at Isabella’s tired but dangerous face.

He smiled. "Like i said before those are the most adorable babies I have ever seen."

The room went quiet.

Even Osiris looked at him like he had just witnessed a major lie being born.

Isabella smiled with complete pride. "I know, right?"

Zyran nodded. "Very adorable."

Cyrus looked down to hide his smile.

Shelia turned her face away.

Luca suddenly became very interested in the corner of the room.

Ophelia did not lie. She simply came closer with shining eyes and whispered, "They are so precious."

That was safer.

Isabella liked that one.

The babies were brought closer to her again, and her whole expression changed. She touched their tiny hands one by one, kissing the small fingers with such care that everyone in the room became quiet without meaning to. Even Osiris finally stopped speaking for a while.

The first boy moved his tiny hand against her mouth, and Isabella let out a soft laugh.

"You," she whispered to him. "You nearly finished me. Why did you take so long to come out?"

The baby made a small sound.

Isabella looked at him seriously. "Do not act cute now. I remember everything."

The second boy yawned, or at least made a tiny movement that looked like one. Isabella’s eyes softened even more.

"And you," she said. "You were worse."

Cyrus looked like he wanted to defend his son, but then he remembered the birth and wisely said nothing.

Isabella turned to the girl last. The little girl was awake. She did not move much because newborns did not move much, but her small mouth opened and closed softly, and her tiny body shifted under the cloth.

Isabella smiled. "You were the easiest. I appreciate you."

Osiris immediately said, "So she is your favorite already?"

Isabella looked at him. "I almost died. Let me have my feelings."

Osiris nodded. "Fair."

That surprised everyone so much that they all looked at him.

He frowned. "What?"

"Nothing," Luca said quickly.
