Chapter 501: What would be so bad about marrying you?

As they walked through the streets of Molveth, the capital of the Demon Kingdom revealed a completely different atmosphere from what they had imagined.

The city was breathtaking at night.

Beautiful crystal lamps floated above the streets, casting a warm golden glow across the stone roads.

Buildings made from dark gray stone stood proudly on both sides, their balconies decorated with glowing flowers that bloomed only after sunset.

Elegant banners bearing the royal crest. They fluttered gently in the cool evening breeze.

The streets were lively.

Food stalls released delicious aromas into the air while musicians played pleasant melodies with strange instruments the students had never seen before.

Children ran around laughing, merchants loudly advertised their goods, and families casually enjoyed the peaceful evening.

It looked like any ordinary kingdom.

Nothing about it resembled the terrifying image of demons the human kingdoms often spoke about.

Of course the humans still attracted plenty of attention.

As Amon’s group walked through the slightly crowded streets, many demons turned their heads to look at them.

Some looked curious. Some looked surprised. A few appeared slightly uncomfortable.

However not a single one showed hostility.

Perhaps because everyone knew these students were honored guests of the Queen.

Or perhaps because Nyxariel herself was currently residing within the capital.

Either way the group walked peacefully through the beautiful city.

---

Amon looked around with shining eyes. "This city is amazing..."

Eliana smiled softly."It really is beautiful."

Aisha quietly nodded."Hmm."

Marcus observed the architecture with interest.

"The craftsmanship is impressive."

Even Seraphina’s usually calm expression softened slightly as she admired the scenery.

Just then, Amon suddenly looked toward Marcus with a mischievous grin.

Professor Adelia and other girls were walking ahead while Amon and Marcus were standing behind.

"Hey, Marcus!"

Marcus glanced sideways. "Hmm? What is it?"

Amon smirked. "I guess it’s finally time for you to have some romance."

Marcus almost stumbled.

"The fu—"

He quickly glanced at Professor Adelia walking ahead.

"...I mean..."

"What do you mean?"

Amon laughed. "I mean, brother... how long are you planning to stay single? It’s time to grow up."

Marcus looked at him with a deadpan expression. "I don’t need romance."

"All I need is to train hard and become stronger. That’s my goal."

"Haha!"

Amon shook his head. "That’s not how you should live, Marcus."

Marcus folded his arms. "Oh? And may I know why?"

Amon smiled before speaking calmly.

"You train every single day. But why? For your future. To achieve your goals."

So every day, you sacrifice your present for a future you hope to reach."

Marcus quietly listened.

Amon continued. "But while doing that...you slowly become a slave to your future. The day you finally achieve your goal...that future becomes today... it becomes your present."

"But then...you start chasing another future."

He smiled gently. "So don’t forget to live in the present as well. Work hard...But also enjoy today."

Marcus stared at him for several seconds.

"...Okay."

He looked at Amon with a completely deadpan face He had no idea when this idiot suddenly became a philosopher.

Amon grinned proudly.

"Good. Now go find yourself a girlfriend But don’t go after Seraphina or Aisha. And definitely not my sweet Professor Adelia."

Marcus’s lips twitched. "I have no intention of doing that. I don’t see them that way...and also I have no wish to marry other race woman. It’s a headache for nobles."

"But..." He looked suspiciously at Amon. "Why are you stopping me?"

"You already have Scarlett. So what’s the problem?"

Amon looked around before leaning closer so the others couldn’t hear. With a mischievous grin, he whispered,

"Did you forget my harem plan? I’ve already planned my future family."

Marcus closed his eyes. ’Here we go again...’ He thought. He knew that Amon was going to talk nonsense once again.

Amon continued proudly,

"If I marry Seraphina...I’ll have Duke Alistair’s protection. And with his backing...I can even marry my vampire Scarlett. And noble ladies like Professor Adelia, also Aisah from beastman kingdom."

Then he burst into small laughter. "Haha! It’s all about power!!"

Marcus had originally planned to ignore Amon’s usual nonsense.

But, after he heard that explanation. He looked at Amon as if he had completely lost his mind.

Then he slowly shook his head.

"You’re insane. Just because you marry Seraphina doesn’t mean you’ll suddenly be allowed to marry noblewomen from every race. That’s not how it works."

Then he look at Amon. "And besides, If you marry her. You’ll become the son-in-law of the Luminous Family. She’ll inherit the duchy. You won’t have the right to marry multiple wives."

Amon confidently nodded. "That’s where you’re wrong. If Seraphina gives me permission. And her grandfather agrees...Then he’ll personally stand beside me when I ask for their hands."

He proudly folded his arms. "No family would reject the chance to become relatives of Alistair Luminous."

Marcus stood there speechless. Everything Amon said sounded completely ridiculous.

It made absolutely no sense.

Yet, when overwhelming power was involved. Many impossible things somehow became possible.

Just then Eliana turned around.

"Hey, you two. What are you talking about? And why does Marcus look so shocked?"

Aisha and Seraphina also looked back curiously. Professor Adelia glanced over her shoulder as well.

Amon instantly put on an innocent smile.

"It’s nothing."

Marcus looked at him.

Then a slow smile appeared on his face.

There was no way he would waste this opportunity. With a perfectly calm expression, he said,

"It was nothing. Amon was just explaining how he wants to marry Seraphina."

"What?!"

Eliana exclaimed in shock. "The heck?"

Aisha blurted out.

Professor Adelia covered her mouth.

"Oh my..." Her golden yellow widened.

Seraphina herself froze. "A-A-Amon...? What are you talking about?"

Her cheeks instantly turned bright red. If it had been anyone else. She might have ignored it.Or simply responded coldly.

But it was Amon. Someone she had grown incredibly close to.

For just a brief moment. A strange thought crossed her mind.

Marrying Amon, it didn’t actually sound unpleasant or bad. For some reason she doesn’t mind the idea.

Suddenly she lightly shook her head.

’What am I thinking...?’ She thought.

As the future heir of the Luminous Family...

She would one day marry someone, it might be someone she like and if she didn’t have anyone she liked, then marry someone chosen by her family.

Yet among all the young men she knew. The one she trusted the most was Amon.

And somehow that realization only made her heart beat faster. No one noticed the turmoil hidden behind her calm expression.

Amon frantically waved both hands.

"Come on! This idiot is just talking nonsense!I was only joking with him!"

Marcus sighed.

"Yeah...Don’t make jokes like that again."

Everyone immediately relaxed.

Professor Adelia smiled helplessly.

"Amon. You really shouldn’t create misunderstandings like that, okay?"

Amon scratched his cheek.

"Yes, Professor. I won’t."

"Good."

She smiled gently.

"Now let’s continue. I heard there’s a cultural dance taking place at the central square. Let’s go watch it together."

With that, Adelia continued walking through the lively streets.

Eliana and Aisha happily followed her. Marcus immediately sped up, putting some distance between himself and Amon.

Amon simply sighed. Only Seraphina remained beside him.She quietly glanced at him once.

Then calmly continued walking.

Amon hurried to catch up and walked beside her.

"...Sorry, Seraphina. This guy really enjoys talking nonsense."

It was ridiculous how Amon was calling Marcus a person who talks nonsense. In truth the one who does that was nonetherthan Amon himself.

Even Seraphina knew this but she didn’t point it out.

She gently shook her head.

"It’s alright. I know it was only a joke."

Amon smiled awkwardly.

"Yeah...I know. I’ve joked like that before too. But never thought too deeply about it. Now that it was Marcus who said such thing... I felt bad."

He hesitated.

"So I thought maybe... you don’t like hearing things like that. And you just pretended not to be angry and uncomfortable because you are kind."

"I mean...It probably sounds bad. Imagining yourself marrying a commoner like me."

Seraphina slowly turned her head. Her calm golden eyes met his.

Without saying anything. She gently reached for his left hand. Their fingers naturally intertwined.

Amon blinked in surprise.

Seraphina looked at him quietly.

"I don’t, Amon. If I disliked it...I would’ve told you directly. You know I am direct."

She tilted her head slightly.

"And besides, what’s wrong with you? You’re a genuinely good man. So... What would be so bad about marrying you?"

Amon immediately looked away.

A faint blush appeared on his face.

"...Hmm."

He paused and then continued, "I guess...I was just overthinking."

Seeing his embarrassed expression...

A tiny smile quietly bloomed on Seraphina’s lips.

For some reason she found this side of Amon always adorable.

It was rare to see him blush or embarrassed.

She looked forward and didn’t let go of his hand. Nor did Amon asked her to let it go.
