Chapter 499: Keep It Safe and Be Safe

Lark gently held it in his palm.

"This locket..."

His voice softened. "It was given to me by my mother. This is all I have left of her... It’s very important to me."

Amon silently stared at it. Seraphina and Marcus also carefully observed the pendant.

Amon looked back at Lark. "Hey, Lark."

"Yes?"

Amon hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"What... if the Shard those demons were searching for... is actually inside that golden pendant?"

Lark blinked.

Marcus blinked as well.

Seraphina looked at Amon before shifting her gaze back toward the pendant.

After a brief moment, she nodded thoughtfully.

"Hmm... there is a possibility."

Worry slowly crept onto Lark’s face.

"If... if it’s really inside this..."

He quickly tucked the pendant back beneath his shirt. "...then they’ll definitely come after me again."

Leaning back against his seat, he let out a long sigh.

"This is the last thing my mother left me... It’s all I have left of her... I can’t afford to lose it."

Amon nodded understandingly.

"I understand."

He smiled reassuringly.

"Well, don’t worry. We won’t tell anyone. Just keep it safe... and stay safe yourself."

Lark smiled gratefully.

"Thank you..."

Once again, he thanked them. Soon, the temple came into view.

Lark stood up. "I’ll get off here."

"Okay."

The carriage soon came to a stop.

Lark climbed down before turning back toward the group.

He bowed deeply once more. "Thank you very much for saving me."

Amon smiled warmly. "It’s alright. Take care."

Seraphina nodded calmly.

"Be safe."

Marcus crossed his arms. "Don’t be afraid of those thiefs, if anyone tried to steal what’s yours... you should fight back."

Eliana waved with a smile. "Bye~ See you again sometime in future."

Aisha simply nodded. "Take care."

Lark smiled. "You all take care as well."

It was surprising for himself, as a demon he was talking to humans, elf and beatwoman so friendly.

With those words, he stepped away from the carriage.

Before leaving, he bowed respectfully to Adelia as well.

After Lark disappeared toward the temple, Adelia looked back at everyone.

"We’ll return to the manor now. That’s all for today... especially since that unexpected incident occurred. I hope you all understand."

All the students nodded. They completely understood the situation. Soon the carriage returned to the manor.

By the time the group returned to the manor, the sun had already disappeared beyond the horizon.

The orange glow in the sky gradually faded into deep blue as the lights throughout the enormous manor illuminated one after another.

The students stepped down from the vehicles one by one.

"Haah...that was good and bad day."

"Yes...once again something happened."

"Is our class is cursed? Everywhere we go...something dangerous always come to us."

Students kept talking.

Everyone looked exhausted after spending the entire day hunting monsters and then unexpectedly fighting two powerful demons.

The instructors dismissed them for the evening.

"You’ve all worked hard today," Professor Adelia said with a gentle smile. "Go get some rest. Dinner will be served later."

The students nodded before heading toward the manor.

Amon stretched his sore body as he walked inside.

"My back is killing me..."

Marcus, who was walking beside him, laughed.

"That’s what happens when you keep getting thrown into trees."

"That was only once."

"...Twice."

"..."

"...Fine, maybe three times."

Marcus just shook his head.

The group entered the manor before heading toward their own rooms.

---

Amon unlocked his room and let out a long sigh.

"What a day..."

He tossed his sword onto the weapon stand before removing his academy uniform.

After taking a refreshing bath, he changed into something much more comfortable.

A simple black shirt. Dark gray pants. He wore nothing fancy. They were just comfortable clothes.

He ran a towel through his still slightly damp white hair before looking at himself in the mirror.

"Much better."

After making sure everything was in place, he left his room and headed downstairs.

Since dinner would be served soon, many students had already started gathering on the ground floor.

The atmosphere was much more relaxed compared to earlier.

Some students chatted excitedly about today’s hunt.

Others proudly showed off monster materials they had collected.

Amon simply smiled as he walked through the corridor.

Soon he spotted familiar faces.

Marcus was already standing there with his arms folded.

Beside him stood Seraphina. Aisha and Eliana.

The moment Amon saw them. He froze.

His eyes widened. "...Whoa."

What surprised him wasn’t simply seeing them.

It was what they were wearing.

The three girls were dressed in the outfits Amon had gifted them.

Seraphina wore the dress that was a lovely yellow frock that looked bright and cheerful. Tiny floral patterns decorated the cotton fabri.

Aisha wore the ivory dress that fit her surprisingly well. The fitted waist highlighted her naturally athletic figure.

Meanwhile, Eliana wore the beautiful frock that was a beautiful pastel sage-green color.

For a brief moment. Amon simply stared. He had seen them in those dreams before. When they tried them in shop.

Then a bright smile spread across his face. Without wasting another second, he walked straight toward them.

The three girls noticed him approaching.

Eliana smiled knowingly.

Aisha crossed her arms.

Seraphina calmly looked at him.

Stopping before them, Amon smiled warmly.

"You all look beautiful."

His sincere words made the three girls react differently.

"I... I’m really happy you wore the dresses I gave you."

Seraphina’s cheeks became faintly pink as a small, gentle smile appeared on her face.

"Thank you."

Aisha looked away with crossed arms, trying to hide the slight blush creeping onto her face.

"Hmph... I only wore it because it was comfortable."

Eliana giggled softly.

"I knew you’d say that."

She then looked at Amon with a teasing smile.

"Still... thank you, Amon. I really like it."

Marcus watched the scene before shaking his head helplessly.

"...You girls really wore them."

"Of course," Eliana replied with a smile.

"They were gifts."

Seraphina gave a small nod.

"And... they’re beautiful."

Aisha quietly muttered,

"...They fit well."

Amon’s smile widened even more.

Seeing the three of them wearing his gifts genuinely made him happy.

"I knew they’d suit you perfectly."

The four of them couldn’t help but smile.

Even Marcus chuckled as he watched the scene unfold.

Soon, the group began walking together toward the dining hall, chatting casually as another peaceful evening settled over the manor.
