Chapter 497: They Finally Killed Two Demons
"W-What’s happening inside me?"
Nazi’s expression twisted in confusion and panic. He became restless, frantically rubbing his back and the wounds across his body.
It felt as though, something was crawling beneath his skin. Something was alive moving inside.
His breathing grew uneven. With nervous eyes, he glared at Amon.
"What... what are you doing to me, boy?"
His voice trembled slightly.
Amon’s own expression wasn’t looking any better. His face had turned pale.
Sweat rolled down his forehead. His head throbbed painfully.
’Damn... it’s so difficult to control my blood inside his body.’
He clenched his jaw. ’Is it because he’s stronger than me? But I controlled the blood inside that Rank Four monster so easily... so why not him?’
His brows furrowed. ’Or... does his blood possess stronger resistance?’
Amon didn’t know the answer. It wasn’t that he couldn’t manipulate it. He simply had to pour an enormous amount of concentration into controlling every single drop. The strain on his mind was immense.
Just then.
CRACK!!
The earth beneath Nazi suddenly split apart. His eyes instantly dropped toward the ground.
Something was coming from below.
His pupils shrank.
"Shit!!"
He instinctively tried to leap away.
But he was too late.
BOOOOOM!!
The ground exploded open. A pillar of blazing fire erupted violently from beneath him.
His lower body was instantly swallowed by the roaring flames.
Marcus calmly tightened his grip around his spear. The blade of his spear remained thrust deep inside the ground.
Without changing his expression, he muttered a single word.
"Detonate."
The moment those words left his mouth. The flames engulfing Nazi exploded.
BOOOOOOM!!!
Everything happened far too quickly. Still distracted by the strange sensation crawling through his body.
Nazi was caught completely off guard.
"ARRRGGHHHHH!!"
The violent explosion engulfed his lower half. His body was blasted high into the air before crashing onto the ground several meters away.
BOOM!
He rolled several times before finally stopping.
Groaning in pain, he immediately reached into his storage ring and pulled out a healing potion.
Without hesitation, he uncorked it and drank the entire bottle.
A faint green glow spread across his burned legs. The charred flesh slowly regenerated. His wounds gradually began closing.
But at that exact moment. Amon was already prepared.
His right palm slowly opened.
Then he clenched it tightly into a fist.
"AAAAARRRGHHHH!!"
Nazi let out an agonizing scream unlike anything before.
His entire body convulsed violently.
Suddenly.
SCHKKK!!
The flesh on his upper back violently burst open.
A razor-sharp crimson spike made entirely of hardened blood tore through his skin from the inside.
Before he could even process what had happened.
SCHKKK!!
Another blood spike erupted from his left thigh. Then another.
SCHKK!!
His right thigh exploded open.
SCHKKK!!
A blood spike burst through the side of his ribs.
SCHKK!!
Another tore through the opposite side.
One after another. Amon own blood that was inside Nazi’s body transformed into deadly crimson spikes, ripping through muscle and flesh before violently erupting out of his body.
Blood sprayed in every direction. His skin split apart. His muscles tore open.
The horrifying sight made it seem as though his own body had betrayed him.
"AAAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!"
His screams echoed throughout the forest. He collapsed helplessly onto the shattered ground.
Blood continued pouring endlessly from the countless holes covering his body.
Stomp
Stomp
Stomp
Amon slowly walked toward him. His own breathing had become heavy. His body was exhausted.
Even his vision blurred from the strain.
Yet he kept walking.
The demon, writhing in unbearable pain, slowly lifted his head. His trembling eyes stared at the young man approaching him.
With ragged breaths, he asked, "W-What... did you... do to me...?...Who are you?"
Amon wasn’t much better than him. His mana was nearly depleted. His entire body ached. His head felt as though it would split apart.
Yet he continued walking until he finally stood directly before the fallen demon.
Without saying anything. He slowly raised his right hand.
Far behind him the black hatchet lying on the ground suddenly trembled.
Whiiisshhh!
It shot through the air, slicing through the wind with a sharp whistling sound before perfectly landing back into Amon’s waiting hand.
He tightened his grip around its handle. Then he looked down at Nazi. His voice remained calm.
"My name is Amon."
The next instant his arm flashed downward.
"Wait—!"
Nazi desperately tried to gather mana.
But he was already too much injured. His body had been torn apart by the blood spikes.
Blood continued flowing from countless wounds. His muscles refused to obey him. He couldn’t even raise his weapons.
SCHKK!!
The curved blade of the hatchet came crashing down. It split straight through his skull.
Blood splattered across the shattered ground. His body went completely still.
Amon slowly pulled the hatchet free.
Then he turned his gaze toward his right. More than twenty meters away. A section of the battlefield still remained covered in smoke.
It was the very place where the massive golden explosion had occurred.
Eliana remained seated on the ground, breathing heavily.
Marcus stood nearby, supporting himself with his spear.
Dragging his exhausted body forward... Amon slowly made his way toward the place where Seraphina and the others had fought Xen.
---
"Haah... haah..."
Seraphina remained on one knee.
Cough!
A mouthful of blood escaped her lips.
Even so her golden eyes never lost their focus.
The attack she had just unleashed had placed an enormous burden on her body. It had been quite some time since she had last used that technique.
By now most of the smoke had finally cleared. A silhouette gradually became visible.
Then she saw him.
Xen, he was still alive. Remaining on one knee. His entire body had been horribly burned.
His face was nearly unrecognizable. Parts of his skin had melted from the overwhelming heat.
Both of his horns had disappeared completely. A massive vertical slash ran across the front of his body.
Even so he was still breathing.
Aisha and Lark stared at him in complete shock.
The damage was catastrophic. The demon was no longer capable of fighting.
Even Seraphina herself could barely move. She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand.
Just then a familiar voice came from beside her. With an amazed expression, Amon said,
"Damn, Sera... you’re crazy strong."
He stopped beside the kneeling girl.
The darkness covering his body had disappeared long ago.
Breathing heavily, Seraphina replied,
"Haah... it was do or die... and... he’s still alive."
Standing beside her. Amon gently reached out. His fingers softly brushed through her dust-covered golden hair.
With a small smile, he said,
"Good job."
Seraphina stiffened slightly. Her beautiful face froze for a brief second.
Buts he didn’t say anything. She simply wasn’t in any condition to even react.
Looking ahead again, Amon said,
"You’re still alive. That’s amazing."
With that, he walked toward the dying demon.
Stopping before him, he asked, "Oi... tell us... what’s the Primordial Shard?"
Xen’s eyelids had grown heavy. Death was already approaching.
Even so he slowly answered, "Why... should I tell you?"
Amon immediately understood.
’There’s no point answering. Either way... he’ll be dead within a few minutes.’
He let out a tired sigh.
"Amon!"
A familiar voice suddenly echoed through the forest. Amon turned around. Through the trees, he saw Adelia running toward them.
Beside her were Asher and Jolene.
’Damn... they came at the perfect moment... right after we killed those two.’
Amon already knew what had happened.
Eliana, who had remained hidden during the battle, had undoubtedly contacted the professors.
That was why they had arrived.
Still it wasn’t as though they had taken too long.
Amon’s group had ventured several kilometers deep into the forest.
The instructors had remained near the forest’s entrance.
Moreover although the battle had felt incredibly long. The entire fight had lasted less than ten minutes.
Everything had simply happened too fast.
Adelia hurried over before stopping directly in front of Amon.
Without hesitation, she cupped both of his cheeks. With worry filling her yellow eyes, she carefully examined his face.
"Are you okay? Can you still move properly?" she asked anxiously.
Her gaze traveled across his entire body. She quickly noticed the bruises covering his face.
The cut across his chest. And many more injuries. Yet no blood flowed from any of them.
Amon smiled weakly.
"Professor... I’m totally fine. I’m just exhausted. My mana is depleted, and I have a small headache."
Meanwhile, Asher and Jolene moved toward the others.
They quickly distributed high-grade healing potions.
Meanwhile Adelia raised both hands toward Amon’s chest. A brilliant golden magic circle mixed with emerald-green light formed before her palms.
Warm healing light poured over Amon’s body. A soothing warmth washed through him.
His bruises gradually disappeared. QThe cuts across his body slowly healed.
Adelia’s eyes then shifted toward the demon’s corpse lying barely a meter away. The surrounding ground had been completely devastated.
She frowned.
"What exactly happened here?"
Only then did she notice Lark standing nearby. The maroon-haired demon, around the same age as the students.
Amon scratched his cheek awkwardly.
"Well... a lot happened in a very short amount of time."
Adelia sighed helplessly.
"Why do things like this always happen around you?"
She looked directly at him.
"Every time we go somewhere... or you go somewhere... an incident always occurs."
Amon lowered his head slightly. "Sorry..."
She gently shook her head. "No... it’s not your fault."
Her expression softened. "Let’s get all of you back to the city first. Then we can discuss everything that happened."
Amon simply nodded.
Right now he truly wanted nothing more than to collapse into Adelia’s warm embrace and fall asleep.
But he couldn’t.
After checking everyone, Jolene walked over and reported,
"Everyone is safe. I’ve already contacted the Demon Knights. They’re on their way here."
Adelia nodded.
Then she looked back at Amon. "Amon, I’m going to heal the others. Get some rest."
He nodded once again.
As Adelia walked away toward the others.
Amon slowly sat down on the ground. His exhausted eyes stared blankly into the distance.
His thoughts drifted back to everything that had happened.
Especially, the words spoken by the demons.
’Primordial...’
