Chapter 1239: The Second Day

Pei Lang’s expression froze before turning sorrowful. He took a deep breath and released it.

"They... they are dead. They were executed by the temple because they were accused of committing blasphemy against God Avergis. I don’t know the details, but by the time the news of them being captured by the temple reached me, it was already too late. They had already been executed."

"Later, I found out from some people that Father and Mother had an argument with a group of temple members. Maybe because of that, those people decided to target them."

Pei Lang sighed again while Aldrian remained silent and listened.

"Because I know how much Father and Mother disliked the temple members, I thought it wasn’t surprising that they ended up in conflict with them."

"Well, it has already been four years, so I’ve accepted whatever happened to my family."

Pei Lang fell silent after finishing his words.

After a few moments of silence, Aldrian spoke.

"Do you want to pay back those who executed your father and mother?"

His question was direct. There were no words of comfort and no words of condolence. He asked Pei Lang only one thing.

Did you want revenge?

Pei Lang’s heart trembled when he heard that question. He lowered his head, clenched his fists, and bit his lip.

"It would be a lie if I said I didn’t want to, but what can I do? I’m alone, and I don’t have the power to go against a behemoth like the temple. Even when they found out that I possessed a prayer artifact dedicated to the god my family worshipped, I could do nothing except wait for my death. I’m too weak to do anything."

Aldrian kept looking at Pei Lang for a moment before speaking again.

"I see. Then that’s enough. That means you still have that desire inside your heart. You do not want your parents’ deaths to remain unavenged."

Aldrian’s expression then turned solemn.

"Pei Lang, do you want to become stronger? So strong that no one would dare to harm you? Do you want to grow stronger so you can live a better life?"

Hearing that question, something inside Pei Lang’s heart ignited. The answer to that question had already there, deep within his heart. He did not want to continue living like this. He wanted to escape his current condition.

Pei Lang firmly nodded.

"Yes."

"Good. You want to grow stronger. You want to change your current condition. Now, as a descendant of the Pei family, do you want to make the Pei family rise to become one of the strongest families?"

Pei Lang’s heart shook.

This was his parents’ dream.

They believed that the Pei family would rise again and reclaim its glory from ancient times.

Even though he did not truly believe the stories of his family’s past glory, he still dreamed of a life where his family could live in prosperity. A life filled with dignity and glory, just like in the stories his parents told about their family’s past.

He wanted the Pei family to soar, just as his parents believed it would in the future.

Pei Lang nodded, causing a slight smile to finally appear on Aldrian’s face.

"Good. Then I will help you grow stronger."

Pei Lang’s eyes widened.

"Really?" he asked.

Aldrian nodded.

"Yes. Fortunately, I know someone who could help you in the future. Your family follows the god known as the Divine Emperor of the Southern Lightning, Lei Batian, right?"

Pei Lang nodded. He was not surprised that Aldrian knew which god his family followed. If Aldrian knew his family and had some connection to it, then it was only natural that he would know that much.

"I know someone who has a close relationship with your god, and he can help you grow stronger and rebuild your family," Aldrian continued, causing Pei Lang’s eyes to widen in shock.

"With his help, I believe that one day you will restore glory to both yourself and your family."

Aldrian smiled as he watched Pei Lang freeze in place, his mouth hanging open in shock.

Aldrian knew that this information was too much for Pei Lang to process all at once. However, if he wanted to grow stronger and restore his family’s glory, then he needed to know this. Fortunately, Aldrian had someone who could guide him.

Among the followers he had freed from the time-stopping formation in the First Heaven was someone who had a close relationship with Lei Batian himself.

There was no better person to guide Pei Lang than that individual.

The Divine Emperor of the Southern Lightning, Lei Batian, had chosen his only descendant, his son, to remain in the First Heaven until the Great Emperor awakened him.

His son was a cultivator at the Transcendence Realm who was only a step away from reaching the Divine Realm.

Lei Batian had originally come from the Second Heaven when he was still a mortal.

The Pei family was one of the families blessed by Lei Batian, making it easier for them to comprehend Lightning laws and several other laws.

His son was the perfect person to help him manage certain matters in the Second Heaven, including guiding Pei Lang.

"Mister, how could you know someone who has a relationship with our god? If that is the case, then just how old is that person, or how old are..." He paused and took a deep breath.

"Who are you really, Mister? I suddenly feel scared. I realize that Mister seems to be someone far greater than I ever imagined. I feel like I am not worthy of Mister’s treatment."

Aldrian still smiled.

"Don’t think too much about my identity for now. You will know in the future. For now, I am just Mister Aldrian, the person who saved you from the prison."

Pei Lang took another deep breath and released it to calm his turbulent heart.

"Anyway, that’s it for today. I just wanted you to prepare for the future, Pei Lang. The day you see justice served is not far away."

Aldrian said as he ruffled the boy’s hair.

Pei Lang released a deep breath and nodded with a smile. He could not help but feel anticipation rising within his heart.

What kind of future would he experience?

-------------------------

On the next day, people had already returned to the stadium since morning despite the competition not having started yet. Aldrian had also already returned to the stadium and was sitting in a different seat than yesterday.

Other than those watching from the VIP and VVIP rooms, spectators needed to buy a new ticket for each new day. This was to give a chance to those who wanted to watch the tournament directly but could not get a ticket the previous day because all the tickets had been sold out.

Basically, it was a war for tickets every day until the last day of the tournament.

After sitting for more than an hour, Aldrian finally saw the sign that the second day’s competition was about to begin. Lan Jingyi stepped onto the arena, and her voice echoed throughout the stadium.

"Welcome to the second day of the Eastern Region Great Tournament. In a moment, we will witness another exciting competition that will make your heart race and your body tense!"

The cheers from the spectators grew louder. After giving them a few moments to celebrate, Lan Jingyi continued.

"For the second day, it is the special day for blacksmith masters. This is the day where we will witness geniuses in the field of artifact creation displaying their skills and presenting their finest creations."

As soon as she finished speaking, numerous large portable furnaces, tables, and other equipment used for artifact forging flew out from the inner sections of the stadium.

They quickly arranged themselves in neat rows so the participants could work comfortably without disturbing one another.

After the arrangement was completed, Lan Jingyi swept her gaze across the spectators for a moment before continuing.

"For the participants of the forging competition, please enter the arena. The competition will begin shortly."

The participants entered the arena by leaping onto the stage one after another. The spectators became even more boisterous upon seeing them enter the arena, especially since some of them were well-known figures.

"The successor of Iron Fortress Cliff, Young Master Riven Amberfein, is here!"

"That is Elder Deiran Reinclof of the Reinclof Family!"

"Look, that is...!"

With so many renowned participants present, countless people expected the events that would unfold later to be no less exciting than the alchemy competition.

After waiting a few moments for the participants to take their positions, Lan Jingyi continued.

"For the first round, you will be challenged to create an artifact using the materials prepared in front of you. You may create whatever you wish, but to pass the first round, you must forge an artifact that is at least Middle Heaven Grade!"

The participants looked at the materials spread across the tables before them. Many of their expressions turned solemn, while others remained calm as if everything was under control.

"The time limit for the first round is six hours! And without further ado, the round starts... now! Good luck to all participants!"

All the participants immediately began their work under the cheers of countless spectators.

Aldrian continued observing the participants with a calm expression.

However, after watching the competition for nearly half an hour, his domain sense picked up something that caused his attention to shift elsewhere.
