Chapter 1217: Dropping the Pretence
Randolf did not expect Aldrian to actually say that he had a solution. In his plan, his main target was to know whether Aldrian was experiencing the same thing as them or not.
He was willing to take the risk of revealing his family’s problem, which was practically the same as exposing their weakness to Aldrian, solely because he thought that in return, he would also learn Aldrian’s weakness.
That information would be crucial for him because it would mean that the chance to get rid of Aldrian had finally come.
Even if Aldrian later became suspicious that he was an apostle of a god after learning about his family’s weakness, it did not matter. As long as he kept denying it and never showed his system, Aldrian would never be certain that he was an apostle.
He knew that something was wrong with his connection to the god, which caused his system to malfunction and weakened all of his god’s followers in the First Heaven. It was something beyond the abilities of any being below a god to fix because this matter could even block his connection to his god.
And he did not believe that their god had suddenly abandoned them.
He knew how much effort his god had already invested so he could spread his influence in the First Heaven.
If his god abandoned him, his apostle, then what would all that time and effort mean? It would mean his god had wasted all of his own effort for nothing.
However, Aldrian said that he had a way to fix it?
Was he actually experiencing the same thing and had already found a solution? Or was Aldrian only spouting bullshit to hide his own problem?
"What is it, Your Majesty? If you could help us, we will certainly repay Your Majesty."
In the end, he decided to follow Aldrian’s play. He wanted to know what Aldrian was trying to say, or what he was planning.
Aldrian smiled.
"Why don’t you just cultivate your family’s old cultivation technique and leave your god entirely, Young Master?"
Randolf froze, and the bad feeling inside him suddenly rose to the extreme. Aldrian had suddenly brought up the topic of god. It was truly the worst-case scenario for him!
"What do you mean, Your Majesty?" he asked, still trying to maintain a calm and oblivious expression.
Aldrian continued smiling.
"Like I said, just leave your god and return to the way your family was before it started following that god. That way, your problem will be solved."
"What are you talking about, Your Majesty? I do not know what you mean. What god? We do not worship any specific god." Randolf kept maintaining his expression, although panic had already started rising inside him.
At that moment, he realized that Aldrian already knew about the god’s influence behind the Valroy family’s increase in strength.
There was no doubt about it. Aldrian was an apostle of an unknown god. There was no way he was not, considering Aldrian knew about the existence of gods.
"I see that you still intend to keep your pretense. Then I will be more direct." Aldrian said, and this time his smile disappeared. His expression turned calm.
"Avergis, I want—"
Before Aldrian could finish, Randolf suddenly took something out of his pouch and instantly tried to throw it toward Aldrian.
However, Randolf suddenly felt something strange around him, and then—
Bang!
His head slammed onto the table in front of him, causing the glasses of tea on it to spill everywhere. Aldrian had already seized something in his right hand while Randolf’s head was pressed against the table by Aldrian’s right knee. At the same time, Aldrian’s left hand grabbed and restrained Randolf’s right arm.
"Argh!"
Randolf felt intense pain as Aldrian locked him in place to the point it almost felt like his arm would break. Randolf gritted his teeth, and his eyes glanced toward Aldrian’s face. His heart shook after seeing how Aldrian subdued him and even seized the object he tried to throw within such a short moment.
What just happened?
He had not realized anything before his head was suddenly pressed onto the table. Even the object he wanted to throw was already in Aldrian’s hand, and all of it had happened in an instant. It was as if he had missed several seconds of events before this moment.
He could feel that something had happened, but he did not understand what it actually was. It was like he had suddenly jumped straight into the current scene.
’What did he do to me?’ he thought.
He tried to circulate his energy, and with his other hand that was still free, he attempted to grab something from another pocket. He intended to escape for now.
But before he could even reach his pocket, he suddenly felt his hand stiffen, unable to move even a little.
"Nuh uh, I still have not permitted you to leave. Why are you in such a hurry to go, Young Master? You only arrived here not long ago." Aldrian said.
Randolf’s eyes were already filled with hostility toward Aldrian.
"You... who are you? Whose apostle are you? Are you really one of those rebels?!" he asked angrily.
Aldrian smiled.
"Finally dropping the pretence. That is much better, Young Master, but unfortunately, your guess about me is wrong."
Randolf gritted his teeth, but his eyes trembled.
"What do you mean?"
Aldrian ignored him and instead looked at the object in his hand. It was a small glass bottle filled with purple liquid. He could sense extremely powerful poisonous properties inside it, and even he was surprised by it.
When he checked the information of the bottle and its contents using his system, it confirmed what he already had in mind.
---------------------------------
The Diluted Divine Destruction Poison
Description: A poison created from the combination of the Water Laws, Poison Laws, and Destruction Laws. Everything touched by it would face destruction down to the level of atoms, soul, and karma.
This poison is a diluted version of the Divine Destruction Poison, one of the most powerful poisons in existence. A poison capable of killing gods. This version has already been diluted a million times from the original poison.
However, despite being diluted, this poison could still kill even an Immortal Saint cultivator.
--------------------------------
’As expected, there is a comprehension of Destruction Laws inside it. This poison is truly terrifying. I could even trace divine energy within it, which means this poison was created by a god.’ Aldrian thought.
Even for him, there would still be danger if this poison touched him.
Fortunately, he had already prepared for anything Randolf might do. Before Randolf could throw the poison, he used Time Laws to momentarily control time itself and restrain Randolf.
He then looked at Randolf.
"I have to say, you possess quite an interesting item. This must have been given to you by your system. I suppose this is your strongest trump card? Avergis truly gave you something quite dangerous even for the First Heaven. If I had to guess, he probably gave it to you in case you ever had to face Tarius’ apostle."
Randolf’s heart shook once again after hearing those words.
"You... whose apostle are you? Fuck! If you do anything to me, I swear you will regret it! You must be with those rebels! You damn rebels!" Randolf said furiously, feeling both anger and indignation.
Crack!
"Uwaaghhh!"
Aldrian broke his right arm, causing Randolf to scream in pain. Aldrian’s expression remained calm, but within that calm gaze was a cruel intent. It was the kind of gaze that showed he did not care what kind of torture he inflicted on Randolf as long as Randolf could feel pain.
"The audacity for you to call us rebels when you are an apostle of a god invading this universe. I suppose you also came from this universe, just like Zhang Haoran, yet you still think of us as rebels? One of the things I hate the most is a traitor."
As soon as he finished speaking, Aldrian controlled Randolf’s other arm with his energy and twisted it until it broke as well.
"Aghhhh!"
Randolf screamed once again in agony. Aldrian then released the broken arm, letting it hang limply. Randolf was already shedding tears as he endured the pain from both of his shattered arms.
He gritted his teeth, trying not to cry out again.
Aldrian stored the poison bottle into his storage ring before looking directly at Randolf’s face. A small smile appeared on his lips.
"Do you think I will regret making you like this? No, I do not think so. And who exactly is going to help you? Your abilities? Your system? Avergis?"
Aldrian pressed his knee harder against Randolf’s face.
"Randolf, Randolf, Randolf... you should throw away any thoughts of escaping from me. You are alone in this, Randolf."
"You are already weakened, and I can guess that your system must also be disturbed or malfunctioning. Do you know why, Randolf? Because Avergis has already abandoned you. Poor you. To think that your own god abandoned his apostle."
Randolf’s expression changed instantly.
He was shocked.
"That is bullshit! Ugh... there is no reason for my god to abandon me! You are spouting nonsense!" he said with a slight grunt of pain before his expression turned firm.
"Do you think you could shake my belief in my god?! Naïve! He is the one who has always supported me until this point! He is the one who gave me power when I needed it the most!"
Aldrian shook his head.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... then it seems you truly do not know what happened in the higher heavens. Something happened there, and because of that, your god abandoned you. No matter what kind of reasons or convictions you have, that is the truth. You no longer possess Avergis’ blessing."
Randolf’s eyes trembled.
"What do you mean?"
